Bus wrapped to match the Vette, but instead of the white design on the Vette, do it in chrome. Shine up or polish out the busses trim. That would be an absolute killer look for the bus.

Bus life pro tip... I worked out of a Prevost bus and a fifth wheel camper for a few years. Wifi makes life better. Get the remote app for your TV on your phone. Don't count on not losing the old IR remotes. Replace your light switches and power receptacles with wifi smart switches and plugs. Get a wifi router with some range. One that can connect to a phone or mobile hot spot. Remotes are hard to keep track of. Everyone has their phone on them all the time. It's nice to power up the lights, indoor and outdoor, with your phone. It's nice to sit in a lawn chair outside the bus, around a campfire or toolbox, and control everything with your phone. Turn out the indoor lights, turn on the outdoor lights, start up some music, all with your phone. Our bus and camper was mostly controlled by Alexa and the wifi connectivity was not expensive. Controlling your mobile home with your phone or your voice makes everything so much easier. Another tip, a manual transfer case in your dually. You see people flat towing little cars behind buses all the time. We towed our dually which sometimes even had a 16 foot enclosed trailer attached to it. Take a useful tag along vehicle with you. It doesn't have to be a dually but having a useful vehicle with you is nice. Especially 1000 miles from home. Of course, when we rolled out with the bus, we were often gone for months. Remember, your bus isn't just a car hauler. It's plenty nice enough for a vacation trip every now and then. I guess you could just put your BMW in the bus for your vacations. Just making suggestions based on my mobile work life.

Whoever retrofitted the bus back in the day absolutely kitted it out with all that equipment! That thing must’ve been so cool back then. Even cooler you’re giving it a new life by modernizing and improving it. Keep it up Taylor!

With the lit switch, you could wire it so that it would light up when the lights were off and the door was open. That way, if it gets dark, you/others can find the switch. I know it's in the 'unswitched' cabinet, but if you have all the lights off because it's daytime, the lights in there would be off too.
@mckrackin5324
@mckrackin5324 8 месяцев назад
I put lit switches on my golf cart and that's how I did it. They light up when the lights are out. You know, when it's dark and you need help finding the switch. I don't think all lighted switches can do that though. I did it so they wouldn't glare on the windshield at night. Turn on the headlights and the dash goes dark.

I'd set that cubby up with a laptop dock of sorts. Run your HDMI to USB C cable, a charging cable, etc up there, amd then get a multimedia keyboard to keep up there so you can just put your laptop up there for charging and storage or for editing on the main TV if you want.

Two TVs would be great there. Great for watching sports or one for a camera system. Still think you should install an EasyStart system for you AC Unit to dramatically lower you starting amps. Bus is looking real good guys.

What you could do is push the TV back an inch on the bottom and top, that way you still have your IR working, you can maybe canted a bit more on the top.

Attach some velcro to the TV remote so you can stick it in it's "home" and it will stay put. Possibly attach a small stuffed animal to it. I had a small set of fuzzy dice on my because it's easy to find and cant travel into small spaces when you don't put it in its "home" 😅
@wobblysauce
@wobblysauce 8 месяцев назад
That little cutout on the front t right of the TV is for the old IR you just need to make a little mark on the left side for the new TV. And you have an amp setup you just removed.

Build a small PC to go into that cubby space! Then have a wireless keyboard and mouse too and you can use that TV as a computer monitor to do computer stuff, editing or live streaming things.

Solution to the trunk lighting issue: Instead of the main switch, use a daylight sensor. 🙂 The way it is currently set up will drive you crazy sooner or later. You'll eventually need light at the other end of the vehicle for just a minute, but you'll have to switch the main switch.

Should've used 2x4 backed MDF to fill out where the TV is, then mounted the TV on a vesa mount thats mounted to the 2x4 backed MDF with a hole cut in it for the wires, then lined the the face of the MDF in contact paper, would've been much cleaner and matched both the construction techniques used when the bus was overhauled and more modern RV TV mounting options while also remvoing thje need to flush mount the TV to look good.

For the TV just buy an IR extender kit, you put a receiver over in that original cut out or in one of the cubbies, then there is an IR emitter that sits over the IR window of the TV. Then you can lower the TV enough to fit the upper panel and you don't have to cut any of the panels.

I really think you should ditch the amplifier and make it all car radio powered. This way you can take advantage of all of the speakers (including subwoofer for movies) for every use case. It might take a bit to get it working as one system but I think it would be worth it.

I use to do marine electronics and we did a lot of entertainment stuff on sport fish and yachts. You did the right thing by ripping everything out and starting from scratch. That last panel you were installing, would you be able to Velcro it up onto the ceiling? I saw a lot of Velcroed trim pieces in areas that weren’t able to be screwed on with fasteners and button caps.

So a 43 inch would have fit more snug, given you a bigger screen, and because it’s a diagonal measurement it would have fit that space perfectly. Also as far as audio, if you just use a optical cable from the tv to the receiver, no matter what you plug into the tv the audio will come out and you just leave the receiver set on optical
