Car Dealer INVENTORY SPIKES: People Have STOPPED BUYING CARS!
In this video I interview a GM from a Nissan Dealership. He talks about what his dealership is dealing with right now and where he sees the car market going from here.
My name is Brandon and I am a used car dealer. I created Car Questions Answered to share the ins and outs of the used car market from my perspective. I share with you updates on car prices, what's happening at the dealer auctions, and what it's like being a dealer. My goal is to share information to help you make the best decisions while buying a car to save you money. I do not want car dealers taking advantage of you.
Thanks for watching and please feel free to leave any comments you may have in the section below!

Great interview. Very thoughtful and candid general manager. Imagine the stress he and his co-workers are under these days. Give him credit for agreeing to do an interview like this. Heck yes to standard tranmissions! You can still get a 5speed in the base Versa. They need to put a standard back in Sentra, and especially the Frontier! I want them to, but also don't. I'd be way too tempted to get one even though I don't actually need it, and don't need to spend 40k on another truck. But man I'd probably have to scoop one up if it felt like it might be my last chance to get a new standard in that beautiful new Frontier.

The whole nitrogen thing originated in F1. One team started doing it, so they all did. Even if it gave absolutely no advantage, the cost of filling up tyres with nitrogen is so miniscule relative to the cost of an F1 car, it was still worth doing. Used to be a common thing for road cars in the UK until a consumer rights programme did an exposé on it and showed that using nitrogen had no benefit, and that the workshops were just upselling snake oil. It quite quickly disappeared after that.

We bought a 2018 Subaru XV (CrossTrek) thought a buyers agent here in Australia. Look up [Autoexpert] RU-vid channel. Hopefully there are similar services in the US. It works like this. They work with a fleet buying company who negotiates on your behalf. You tell them the make, model, colour, trim ect and your address. They ask any dealer in the country and update you over about a 2week period on the offers. It’s like having an industry veteran negotiator in your corner. We got a seriously good deal. Once you accept an offer, you go to the dealership with a bank check, they give you the car and walk out with rock bottom price and no BS. The dealership pays them a small fee for handing them a sale. Watch his videos, it will inform you of a lot of tricks. Knowledge is power! Best of luck!

It’s so refreshing to see an authentic dialogue! The owner of this dealership truly has a gem in his GM J.J. You can quickly understand why this man has sales people and staff that have worked WITH him for 2 decades. He understands people’s preconceived notions about dealerships and all the profit driven antics (like the nitrogen) that have been thrown at consumers over the years. If I become in the market for a Nissan, this dealership is worth the trip!

Good interview. I appreciate the GM's openness. Car makers are trying to beat people down over time making them think paying MSRP is a good deal. If they sell you a car/truck without a market adjustment, that's considered winning. It's not. MSRP plus a 7-8% interest rate is a non-starter. The industry needs to crash and come back smarter and more in tune with the consumer.

We are debt free and will not put an 800 dollar a month payment on our family. Prices have to come way down or interest rates. My 2017 F150, which looks brand new and runs new, I bought off the showroom floor. My interest rate was 3%, and payments were lower than most cars nowadays. Post covid we experienced, roughly, 25% inflation. Something that sold for $25k would, with 25% inflation, sell for $30k. Wages, groceries, pretty much everything was impacted.
@jdev232
@jdev232 6 месяцев назад
@bobwallace9753 and yet, covid has long been gone, and prices are still high 🤔, because people were forced to pay it. ..and continue to do so, so they continued to gouge everywhere. The world market could've made a correction, but covis opened the door to over the top panic buying and over bidding and now we're reaping the "benefits"
@bobwallace9753
@bobwallace9753 6 месяцев назад
@@jdev232 You don't understand a couple of things. 1) High inflation happened after covid. During the shutdown people cut way back on buying/spending and supply chains weakened. When people felt the worst had passed they started buying the stuff they had gone without but supplies were limited. High demand + low supplies allows sellers to raise their asking prices. 2) Very rarely do prices get rolled back after a round of inflation. It's pretty much a ratcheting process, move forward but don't move back. What are today's "high prices" will be normal in another year or two and looked back upon as the days of affordable prices after we go through the next round of inflation.
@jdev232
@jdev232 6 месяцев назад
@bobwallace9753 no...I understand that fully, but I've never lived thru a pandemic, and dare I say, have you. Nowhere before, have prices on groceries doubled, or in dome cases tripled overnight, or in 2-3 months time. A believable "story" in time of crisis....crisis over, back to "normal" inflationary rise. Inflation is usually a measurable, steady increase...this increase we saw, was in no way predictable. It was gouging at its finest, and we fell for it. Automakers tho, they'll learn, f*ckers will be rolling back prices, or they'll be done....no bailouts this time
@bobwallace9753
@bobwallace9753 6 месяцев назад
@@jdev232 I lived through the polio epidemic and the Covid 19 epidemic. Both of which were pandemics because they were not restricted to one geographical region, but were worldwide. The post-covid round of inflation was the sixth highest period of inflation in the US since 1900. Inflation is not "usually a measurable steady increase". Look up a chart of US inflation since 1900. In 1946, as WWII ended, inflation soared to 18%, fell to 8% the next year, 2% the year later and was actually followed by a year of 2% deflation. My personal experience, I bought a house for about $25k in 1975 or so and sold it for $55k about 18 months later. Extremely rapid housing price increases happen.

Additionally, all the extra electronics and gadgets and govt spyware just mean LOTS more troubles and expenses. Plus, a lot of trucks now coming with 4-cyl engines, ugh... or turbos... again, ugh.
