A parade of classic lowriders slowly cruised down Whittier Boulevard in East Los Angeles on New Year's Day as drivers celebrated the beginning of a new chapter for the California car scene. READ MORE: abc7.com/california-cruising-...
R.I.P pa, I know you're riding low & slow up there 🙏🏼 I miss you very much, loved seeing you in car shows, and loved seeing what you loved to do. Your greatly missed. Congratulations for opening back up Cruising. I grew up with cruising I really loved it. I’m from the Northern California we would go out to experience different cruises. I got to experience Hollywood cruise Whittier Boulevard Graffiti nights get inspiration ideas and try to make your car or truck motorcycle unique those were one of my greatest memories in life meeting new people I have my 54 Chevy Hardtop in the works when it’s done want to do it again all the hard work being sober for 21 yrs now it is time enjoy life again ☝🏽❤️🙏🏽
Please my brothers and sisters 🇺🇸 🇲🇽 don’t mess this up. Have fun but please keep the peace. Be sure to keep the young ones on check and please support your local businesses.
@funfact8660 - Yeah. All those dumb kids with those stupid Edgar haircuts and those stupid Dodge Chargers or whatever they drive… hopefully it doesn’t invite the wrong crowd.
It wasn't against "low riders" - it was against cruising regardless what you drove I drove a Yugo back in the day, and I was well know in SoCal for cruising many streets
I remember cruising Whittier Blvd, Sunset Strip, and Hollywood Blvd back in the day, I also remember the endless Beefs with different Groups or Sets from different parts of town. We'll see what happens with this....
Does cruising hold up regular traffic and emergency vehicles? Are people forced to use side roads if they need to be somewhere within a reasonable time?
Lmao. I grew up there and it was no bueno for anyone who actually wanted to go anywhere. There aren't a ton of side streets that go all the way through like whittier blvd does and its just as slow because theres traffic all the time. The cruisers used to use the side streets too to turn around and cruise down the other way. So yeah, alot of people were S.O.L.! It mostly happened at night and on the weekend though, esp sunday so less people in an actual hurry. But of course its all working class neighborhoods all around so lots of people were still trying to go to work or running their errends. I admit it was annoying sometimes! Also some act kinda dumb, lol. Yelling at you out the window just messing around being loud and obnoxious, lol. (All good until the bangers get drunk and high, then its time to head out!) Hopefully it will be more chill this time around 😅
With gas ⛽️ prices at $5.00 I am not going cruising. I go to work and back home at most. Them cruising cars give maybe 8-12 miles to the gallon. That benefits the state and that is why they saw interest into making cruising legal.
@@Bossmann710 I know what they cost. I got rid of mine. It was something I thought I would had never done but it became a money pit. I decided to sell it in the end. I cried but yet I was relieved
I was the last generation to cruise in the 80’s in California before they outlawed it. It was just a museum type gas guzzling car. Any car would cruise. It was about seeing your friends and hanging out. Watch the movie American Graffiti
I had a 1940 Mercury Convertible that I used to drive all the way to Phoenix to go cruising. East Mesa is where I lived and we would get a group of at least 5 cars to make the trip together. Man that was living, my how things have changed.
Cruising was popular in the rural south also starting in early 1970s. They had nothing to do on the weekend so they cruised Main Street every weekend. It ended in 2000s when the shooting started.
Totally makes sense, how does this add to environmental policies of California? Senseless continuous driving up and down blvd's. Air pollutions in all regions increase. Good idea.
🤣 The Democrat Socialist Party Politburo in the proletariat paradise, People's Republic of California never actually thinks thing's through, or remembers actual history.
@@rauchu5861 Someone's living rent free in someone's overly emotional, pea brain 😂 playing defence and cheerleader for a corrupt, alzheimer's ridden, international weakling and laughingstock, bad installation job Resident Joe is no way to go through life
Another hypocritical bill passed by the legislature. So it's OK to drive an 8 cylinder car at 2 mph all day in a giant circle, but it is illegal to use a gas powered lawn mower. That makes perfect sense. NOT.
I used to cruisin since the 90s in california after 2006 i started to see shooting in the streets and we had people messing it up for other's.iam gladd you can cruise it now in cali.
👀 The government will legally allow to open the gate to able to cruise. With a leagal purpose, Dui, hydraulic unregistered car meets... new laws get incorporated to bring in revenue on citations.
😆Lmao! My grandparents lived off the corner of whittier and rosemead in pico rivera and all the cruisers used to use their little side street to turn around and get back on the main st. She wrote letter after letter after letter until the city closed off their street so they couldn't use it anymore, lol. I remember as a kid there was so much traffic! Also! Unrelated...but wonder if anyone reading this remembers the mangled cars the po used to put out on the corners to scare people into driving safe and sober, lol. They stopped when *sshole kids were messing w them, too bad. 😏
Recall History allowed Vintage and Low Riders but took out Weho area Garden Club March- Ladies. Any Pride Month Parade should have real Flowers as Straight Women Divorced forced out Parade Route- Women's Suffrage.
Catering to races because they about to be the majority shouldn't of never been outlawed anyways hold those and they people accountable for implementing these type of laws
You're not missing much nowadays in the Democrat Socialist Party Politburo's, and Kommissar Governor Gruesome's, proletariat paradise, People's Republic of California, experiment gone catastrophic....
@@funfact8660San Diego just as whack in fact WHACKER. No blacks here therefore no culture. LA better then San Diego BUT what’s better then LA is the Bay. Oouh I melt for that. I’m born raised San Diego but Bay Area best part of California hands down and everyone knows it !
@@owenbowen1090 horseshit, you may want to look up the definition of driving and traveling. Even drivers licenses are only needed when driving commercially. We the people have been lied to and screwed.
While people from Europe and Asia work hard, study, and have nice homes in the hills and coastline, certain other communities from south of the border have a fetish for cars that have no functional purpose. Instead of getting jobs, they want to show off their toys while bothering people who are just trying to get to work or go home. There need to be other laws to circumvent this madness from Sacramento
Why people womens stars from hollywood live on the street in L. A. without food, employment benefits, savety roof from government to find new job, courses. Its human rights. Where is state governor?
Racism? Really? That's so Weak!! Stop with the racism card. Why don't you spend your time going after the school system that is indoctrinating the children in your schools? Why aren't you complaining about the people looting and robbing your local stores? Why aren't you speaking out about all the trash and graffiti that fills the streets?
Yall always taking shit not friendly not welcoming. Yet wanna rep Raiders Lakers and Rap. Which is black black black. But ain’t got black friends boyfriends or girlfriends.
Absolutely a despicable 'law' to begin with ... Then factor in its racist, and unconstitutional ... The simple fact is, The State lays out the 'terms of the contract'... We must be licensed, the car registered, and insured ... PERIOD ... Where we go, how many times we drive down the same road, who is in or not in the car, how much gas you leave in the tank, where you park (legally), and any other meddling intrusive question the State may come up with, is irrelevant ... In short, the anti cruising 'law' should have never existed to begin with ... And its removal is the best remedy, to show equal justice for American citizens.
