The latest Renault Koleos is, at least, a big improvement over the last one. But does anybody really need it? Here are the long-term Koleos test features mentioned in the video: www.honestjohn.co.uk/our-cars...
This could be a real option for comparing with other crossovers in the market. Please don't underestimate it. Renault for sure with Nissan designed it nicely. The main issue is the pricing and durability. I'm planning to buy one.
This is made in Korea by Samsung utilising the chassis of a Nissan X Trail as in the model sold in Australia? Then in Oz it starts around A$32000, less than a Karoq, so I'm intrigued why Renault attempts to sell it at all in UK. I live in NL and have seen one German registered Koleos. With so much home grown product available would really like to know who would buy this vehicle at this UK price? Thanks for the video.
In response to potential criticism, I think it would be an excellent piece of consumer advice if you could tell us exactly how many bananas you can fit in an MG's glovebox.. ta
Mark, which one of those alternative SUV’s would you buy? Your colleague Honest John ran a Koleos on long term test and I have seen him recommend it in his Q and A’s - he seemed to love it!
Hey Jez. He did, yeah. I can see why but it's just not for me. For me, Volvo is making the best SUVs right now so I'd go with an XC60 every time. I like the Kia too.
Well thats the point.Wait 2 years and get it for less than half the price.Although he has not mentioned it i do own a Mazda CX5.It has all the extras the Koleos has and more.It has a 2.2 turbo giving out 175 bhp and 420 nm of torque.Take a look at it.
I LOVE your reviews. You are the most honest guy in this business. Koleos is just like Ford Edge, "yes, it's fine. but if you have that amount of money just buy XC60".
Do I like it? It’s ok. Do I suggest you spend your money one one? Absolutely not. (PS. For anyone else reading this, I’ve ruined it but please watch the review anyway.) 😀
It’s been grouped wrong. Koleos is a large crossover. The group you put it up against are mid size crossovers. The reason you didn’t put it up against the xtrail, Sorento or a Santa Fe is beyond me
paul wilson Aren’t they all available as 7 seaters though? This car has no real benefits over the cheaper Kadjar and all the others in that sector. That’s how I understood it.
Hi. I have a boring question for you. The guy with the cap in the older videos, is he john and you work for him or is there no john and the company is just called honest john. Cheers. #yawn
Hey mate. It's a perfectly reasonable question. Honest John himself is the man in the older videos and yep, he's still doing his thing. There are lots of us though - HonestJohn.co.uk is one of the biggest car websites in the UK.
HonestJohn.co.uk nice one thanks. I am not kissing your backside with this next comment but it has to be said. You all do a very good job in making these reviews interesting and funny. All of your rivals are getting a little bit tedious, i wish i went in to this line of work as it looks good fun and rewarding. Keep up the good work to everyone in front and behind the camera.
I think the problem here is the fashion / mind-set towards SUV's that Manufactures have to cater for.personally I think they are a complete waste of time & money. (especially money)
The only one French car I love the most is - Talisman (only full equipped and with strongest engine - 200hp, 0-100 = 7,4sec!) Its really great fun car and I bought it because, (as a designer myself) - in my opinion - its best designed than Audis & BMWs. Design bought me :) The most annoying thing in latest Renault cars is - fantastic design, full equipped with sensors, loud speakers and crystal clear sound that implements in Porsche (Bose), spory chasis (look how beautiful and cool looks new Arkana SUV)... but... Instead forcing those, top looking cars - they are forcing: smaller and lower quality... Megan (!?), that is really (sorry but)... uglier Talisman without even console button (all is “touchscreen”); then Clio (Front look is very bad to my taste) with 280hp... 1.8 (!!!)... Twingo (terrible looking small car), Zoe (with even more weird, like ungry fat bee - looking model)... Now almost fantastic looking Koleos... with 110, 130, 150 hp (!?) where 0-100 is over 11 seconds!? Why? Arkana - better looking than BMW x3 is based on Duster (???) engine so expect angry looking BMW like beast that will go as fast as Dacia!?! If Koleos will have HUD, joystick weheel, big, fat and WIDE tyres that will make it look better looking than X6; with Multisense and minimum V3 or V6, 350hp powerful engine (0-100 at least below 7seconds!), REAL exhausts with sunroof as default, 7 seats and optional Active Sound System for roarrring engine sound (for fans & fanatics!).. That would be real alternative to high class rivals! And throw away large Samsung tablet that is always slower) and implement R-Link v3 but on real iPads - I would 1st buy it!!! Really, it is pointless to easte money and time for half products! Do not force Megans, Twingos, Pingos, Capturs, Dacias, Ladas... What is wrong to make Twingo or Megan looks big and massive? Even Skoda looks top when its under Germans design. Alpine - Amazing car that has... 1.8 (!?!) engine with 280 hp and in all reviews all conplains that they are great racing cars but lacks at least 30-40 hp more or at least 2.0 (or 3.0) engines... My wife wanted Koleos but it never lookef good enough... Just 20-30% improvements and it would kick azz!
So basically since Renault has bought Nissan, the Koleos is a re-badged X-Trail. . .Hmmm?! Also it's an auto??? Is it a Nissan auto or a Renault? Because if it's a Nissan JATCO auto the transmition should shit it self around 50.000 Km.
But I dont want a Peugeot (although it looks nice tbh), or any other french car, they all (still) have a horrible reliability index and even when buying new and warranty covering all the bits that have gone to a better place, good luck finding an idiot who will buy the sad excuse for a car from you after the lease period for a decent price. You are then pretty much stuck with it, or shed a tear and give it away to some poor fella. Trust me, had this exact experience with the last model Citroen C5, nice to drive and very comfortable, but the problems started right away.. should have known better and sold it when it still had its warranty and some value. Bought a Kia instead, no issues whatsoever. I dont know anybody who had bought a second french car after getting rid of the first one.
@@frameshade Seeing as we're talking anecdotes, every single one of my siblings has owned at least two Peugeots, with my big brother now on his fourth (205 GTi 1.9, 206 GTi 137, 207 GT (that one was trouble, Peugeot just made it worse), now 208 GTi Prestige). I'm on my third car, all French, first was an old Clio RL Oasis, then two diesels - 206 S 2.0 and 208 Allure 1.6. The Clio was not in the rudest of health when I bought it and generally suffered due to its exhaust system, but the others have been fine. I've never owned a large French car so perhaps that's where I'm missing out (though I was sniffing around a 2010 407 Coupé 3.0 HDi Sport, despite the high running costs).
