Car Splits in Half in Chula Vista 

11.29.20 | 3:40 AM | CHULA VISTA - A man is lucky to be alive after crashing into a pine tree Sunday morning.
Chula Vista Police & Firefighters responded to the N. Rancho Del Rey Parkway just north of Del Rey Blvd shortly before 4 AM regarding the crash.
The male driver of a Subaru was driving at a high rate of speed southbound on N. Rancho Del Rey Prkwy. when he lost control of the car.
His vehicle went into the oncoming traffic lanes and then off of the roadway and hit a pine tree.
The car was split in half the length-wise of the vehicle.
When Police officers arrived, the male was still seated in the driver’s seat, and they pulled him out.
Each half of the car was facing the opposite direction and it was first thought to be a 2 car collision.
The man was taken to UCSD Hospital for his injuries which include head trauma.
DUI is suspected and he will be tested at the hospital.
