The squishy fabric of the lantern body is a diffuser so that you can hand the lantern in a tent without blinding yourself 😊

One of my favorite places to store the "always carry" items on the car (Jump Pack, First Aid, Tools, Entrenching Tool ie. Snow Shovel, Emergency Food, Get Home Pouch) is under the front seats. Some flat stuff can potentially go under the rear seat, and recovery stuff in the spare tire well.

A pack of road flares would be something to add. Not only for markers, rescue signaling , etc., they are "Fire Right Now". Something to carry water in, gallon jugs, Nalgene bottles, etc., would also be a good add. You may want to look into a water filter as well. Whether a Grayl, Saychelle, etc., something that filters chemicals and heavy metals as well as bugs, since she spends time in the Big $hi77y, might be a good idea. I've built a pretty comprehensive set of bags for both of our vehicles and they don't take up much room. However, the cold weather gear we carry during the winter can get kinda bulky. Rubber Maid tubs with sleeping bags, blankets, parkas, mittens, snow boots, etc take up quite a bit of room. (Ahhh, the joys of living in the Last Frontier!😁)

Kitty litter in winter months. It works great in minor situations if tires are spinning on ice. It won’t help if your car is completely off the pavement tho. Folding shovel… but recognize that’s going away from the ‘small bag’ concept. Great video. Thanks for doing what you do!

I would chuck in a couple of AAA maps. Home area, state, and Atlanta since she goes there. They would be more current than the atlas solution. And having AAA to call in most cases, is a good thing.

Good video, lots of good supplies in here I'm always struggling to save space and pack what is necessary without over packing, I haul a bunch of junk around all the time so space is always at a premium. I keep things in a little tote with handles, some basic tools, tarp, rope, duct tape, and the medical kit lives in the front door pocket for quick access. Throw away that RATS TQ, friend of mine who served tells me those are terrible, to get a real TQ that's TCCC approved your life may depend on it!

My honest opinion about the compass is the same as yours. On top of that, I do believe most "survivalist" who rely on a pocket or altoids tin kit will be dead after the first 24-48 using just those.

If you put the blanket in a dry bag, you could throw in a puffy vest. They are almost weightless and they pack small. Also the blanket would not look like something someone would want to steal. Also the blanket can absorb odors over time and give away concealment.

Contrary to your earlier advise regarding chest seal, I wouldn't put a tourniquet in if not trained in use else it may be used incorrectly and end up with losing an arm or a leg. Did you check for storage space under the car seats, as some vehicles have space to put a small kit.
