Just bought this same car in black, with 68k miles on it. Gearing was a bit shorter then I expected, and coming from my 06 supercharged cobalt ss makes it feel slightly droney on the highway. But it handles like a go kart and knowing I can ride 6th gear from 40mph up and past highway speed without lag makes it worth the shorter gear ratio.
Antuan did a good job on this one. I'm just fascinated by the huge space between first and second gear. Why would the gear a car like that? Does it artificially cripple acceleration and increase fuel economy?
I want to say good job on the review. Just right amount of info and criticisms about the car. The kid has his own style of doing the review not all writers has to be Cooley.
I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who "kind of liked" the aveo. don't get me wrong I would never buy one, but it is nice to know I'm not the only one who did not total hate it and could not explain why.
Cooley is my favorite but this guy does good reviews. It's like Top Gear because I'm sure most of us prefer Jeremy Clarkson to do a review because of his style, but nobody complains when Richard and/or James do one. Same thing for CNET. Different reviewer will deliver a different style. Both are good in their own respect.
There are 3 things you want in an enthusiast car. 1: lightweight. 2: fairly cheap to buy and have accessible cheap replacement parts with turbo from factory. 3: has aftermarket support. This hits all 3. Fairly cheap to buy and maintain. Engine is still widely used and is domestic which usually equal cheaper to buy and maintain. And ZZPerformance makes parts for this to get it in the 250hp to the wheels range which would be easily fast enough for a car like this with pretty much straight direct bolt on parts. It's an easy choice to buy for me.
@@ccdoes1841 honestly, the same thing you'd look out for on any car. Basically, drive it, and does it make any noise. Check the oil, does it look normal, or does it look milky (milky oil = bad head gasket which is expensive). Get it up to highway speeds and see if there's any shaking (tire or suspension issue). But really, it's likely fine with 80,000 on the clock. I would merely say check for an rs. Better stock suspension, Better brakes, alloy wheels (lighter and stronger than steelies). Body kit. But it's not a deal breaker if your getting the hook up on an lt. Just you can start throwing around an rs out of the lot. I would upgrade a few things on a lt before going crazy.
Good review! I really like this car , but I also like the new Elantra , the Cruze, the Accent , the new Dodge Dart , 2014 Kia Forte , the Mazda 3 , and the Ford Focus. Damn! There are a lot of great choices in the compact/subcompact market these days!! :^)
I wish I could get Bringgo on my android. for some reason the app store don't recognize it. It's stupid that chevy didn't put a GPS program in the car. I know you can use onstar but I'm not paying for that shit.
I love my LTZ Turbo but I honestly wouldn't buy it again if given the chance. It's good at what it does, namely being comfortable with decent handling, but it's not a hot hatch by ANY means. The 1.4 is fine at low end but there is no top end power.
Get the simple trifecta turbo advantage tune for a completely bone stock Sonic it's like 250 bucks downloaded to you car and it will be like driving a tottaly different car it's night and day . I had cat backs ,cold air , mufflers none of that out did the advantage tune best thing it's tune on the fly you press the cruise button once it's in stock mode turn it off it's in tune mode instantly I'm at 21 psi boost at WOT in tune mode in stock mode it only boost to 17
What I think is rediculous is the fact you could buy a new 200 HP Sonata or 182 HP Altima both with Better MPG and both with automatic and a little more elbow room for less money then the Sonic RS. even a 172 HP Camry is cheaper.
my 1996 toyota tercel has a 3 speed auto and a 1.5l engine yet it still gets my 30MPG combined city/ highway. here this thing is with a smaller engine and way more gears and it gets 25? Lel. Granted my tercel handles like a boat and has the rigidity of a soda can and as much technology as a brick but still this thing should be getting 40mpg at least. It's been 17 years since my tercel released.
I thought he did a good review only there was one more option he didn't mention or know the sunroof then your done , I have the same car but with auto and sunroof the reason why I didn't buy the stick is I seen it here and other reviews about the shifting back and forth to keep it moving in no man's land as he decribed . Also the cheapest bang for your buck to wake up that Sonic without breaking the bank a engine tune I have the trifecta turbo advantage tune it's made for bone stock Sonic no mods around 250 bucks that car will be like night and day in powedband best thing about it you can change from stock tune to performance tune by pressing a button no waiting .....
"Cooley Cooley we want Cooley"...STHU already Cnet please disable comments when doing car reviews. NO...even better yet do some sort of program survey too better understand the average youtube user's mind state when leaving comments.
