This car is ultimate sleeper i beat g35s 350s and gen 2.0t coupes wit this car i kept up with a camaro ss and gone neck and neck with a 370 it may not be the fastest car but its quick and no one expects it
I think this Accord could easily beat a 370 as my old 3.8 v6 Eclipse GT stayed right next to a G37. That said, I got challenged all the time in my Eclipse, but never have in either of my Accord 6-6's (2010 and 2013).. people sleep on them lol
It's sad that there's not going to be an accord coupe for 2018, i understand that it dosn't sell to much but in my opinion i thinl it's the perfect coupe and here is why: it's the only coupe available in the market that u can actually fit tall folks in the back seat, 2. It has many trim levels to choose, i think the 4 cilinders is a waste but this car with the v6 and manual is damn fast, 3. It has the honda reliability that we all know, 4. It has enough luxury features for the price.
I have the exact 2013 Honda Accord V6 Coupe MT in Modern Metal Metallic as in this video. My wife has a 2012 Accord V6 Auto Coupe as well. They are absolutely two different cars. Honda done a great job on the redesign. I did not expect such a difference. I traded in my 2009 Civic Si for this car because I wanted a little more power. This is my 6th Honda and as compared to many cars, the value at trade in does not compare. Honda's hold there value very well. I live in Houston and deal with heavy traffic. The Nav and side camera makes this car a dream to drive in the city. It also handles the twisty roads around Austin that will put a smile on your face. I have driven and owned many different cars and keep coming back to Honda. Being an Automotive Engineer for the past 30 years and working with Honda makes one appreciate their attention to detail and quality. The only other company in terms of engineering that comes close is BMW which I also support. Sorry to say Toyota plays copycat and they lack true innovation in terms of being a solid engine company. I have put many miles on my 2014 Porsche Cayman S which is driven on the weekends. The Accord provide more options than Porsche and the acceleration is so close only the true experienced driver would notice. Driving the Cayman in Houston is difficult because you simply can not see the cars behind you. The mirrors on the Cayman is a joke and Porsche could learn a lot from the Accord. The $3000 Nav system on the Cayman does not detect traffic as with the Accord. You won't go wrong in choosing this very nimble handling car. The compliments I get when I drive this car is data enough to let you know this car is noticed by others. Prior to the Porsche I drove an Audi TT RS which is a step down from the Porsche and Accord in terms of quality and reliability.
Thanks for the detailed info! I like the TT it does cost less than the Cayman but I guess you get what u pay for? Accord coupe for the win in reliabilty.
I know it's been awhile since you wrote this, but could you expand on the main differences between your 13 6MT and your wife's 12 V6 auto? I'm shopping 11-17 accord coupes and can't decide if I want manual or auto (so the wife can drive it!)
This is one of the best car review videos that I've seen in a long, long time. Excellent points made, and very informative and complimentary without being clearly biased. Great work, CNET! Keep it up, and thanks for making these fantastic videos!
I've had my 9th Gen Accord V6 MT for 4 years now and I still enjoy driving it. It's quick enough and very gutsy in the rain or snow with good all seasons!
@@xUltimatexInstinctxit's a 2016 model $25K with 24,000KM Still night pearl, two tone interior. No mechanical issues so far but couple things I noticed: 1. Transmission is noisey and clunky/jerky (more noticeable at cold) 2. Engine braking around 40km is noticeable sometimes alot when engine is not optimal temperature 3. Electronic lock in steering wheel gets loud during cold days (summer time and other days it's fine only cold days) 4. Vcm (variable cylinder management) can be felt on gas foot pedal (you start to feel vibration) this is because at certain speeds a cylinder is being shut off ALL of these listed above are normal nature of these, v6 accords. I've owned previous 8th gen v6 accord and it had similar characteristics including VCM
I have this 2014 Honda Accord Coupe and I have to say I love the car I love the style and how's it look inside and out Honda made this car excellent way to go Honda way to go
The kind of Honda Accord Honda should make: Honda Accord Coupe TypeS 300 HP V6,RWD, 0-60 in 5.0, $40K Top Speed: 150 MPH (Available in manual or auto) Honda Accord Coupe TypeR 400 HP V8,RWD, 0-60 in 4.5, $50K Top Speed: 180 MPH (Only in manual, most advanced Honda performance wise, stiffer ride etc...) Honda Accord Coupe GT 400 HP V8, AWD, 0-60 4.5, $60K Top Speed: 170 (With a bunch of luxury and technology features that aren't included in other trims also available in convertible)
Great idea, but I think that that should be on acuras lineup. Because to be real, no body would pay 60 k for an accord. Also i think that they would go with a turbo 6 or 4
I just bought the 2013. I was kicking arround a used A5, used 335i, New Fusion with Eco-boost with AWD, and a new Honda Accord Coupe. For my life, my commute, my wants/needs the Honda was the best option. I've had it for only a few days, but it's everything you expect from a Honda: Power when you need it, economy when you want it, comfort, technology and a fair price. I opted for the automatic and in city based traffic filled commute, I'm getting 29mpg which is outstanding for nearly 280hp.
Without navigation, the Accord's MSRP is $31,140. The 320i starts at $32,550. So, if you bought the Bimmer, you'd be spending $1,410 more for a car with 100 less horsepower (180 vs. 280). The Accord is a great value.
This is the car that I would inevitably purchase in looking for a car. It would be great to see Honda match, or catch up the rest of their line-up to this great looking, great performing stylish luxury coupe.
:-) Nice. One of my biggest regrets is not pulling the trigger on a mint 1999 E36 M3 with only 17,000 miles back in '06. Forget everything else on your list. Keep searching for that perfect E34 M5. You never know when one might fall into your lap. Cheers.
You should do 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited. I bought one yesterday with a serious tech package, plus 20 inch chrome special. It's amazing the evolution of Grand Cherokee. I test drove GLK,X5 and JX and came away with 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited......
That would actually be quite a good idea! An two-door Accord-based CL (probably now called a CLX) with the same engines from the RLX, the 3.5L DI V6 with 310hp and the 370hp hybrid motor. Add in Acura's new JewelEye headlamps and ditch the beak; you've got a winner in my books!
It is indeed a very good looking car, im glad honda hasnt given up on it! Im glad cooley mentioned it also has the option of a manual which i heard (brian confirmed it) is a good manual!
First time i saw the new accords I looked at the rear end first. My initial reaction was to think this was a new Porsche or something until I noticed the Honda badge in the middle. For the accord the name, this is a very eye catching car. Good job from Honda.
Should I get this or a 2015 model ... I want to replace my '08 4cyl coupe to a V6 and I want push to start .. ( I know that's pretty shallow ) but idc.. but I loooove the '08-12 body style but I feel the interior is too obsolete.. so is the 2015 better since they refreshed in 2016 or should I save money and go with the 2013?? Anyone ??
I have the 2014 Accord Coupe LX-S in White Orchid Pearl and I love it! I get 28-31 MPG in the city and 36-39 MPG on the highway. This car gets a lot of stares - think it's because it looks similar to the Mercedes Coupe.
Was it just me or the background music was weird. I heard tapping thought it was coming from them tapping the dashboard of the car at the end of the video.
this vehicle is really being overlooked by most car review magazines and shows out there. drivers who have grown up from owning tuned subcompacts of yesterday like the 1999-2000 Civic Si, 1990-2001 Integra, 2001-2006 RSX, 1993-2012 Golf/GTI, and the list goes on, will definitely consider this car for a lot of reasons. Watch Temple of VTEC's dyno run for this car and see if that doesn't convince you on how much potential this chassis has to offer. Honda really made a "sleeper" in this one.
Currently owning an 08' accord, and having test driven a 13' accord I can honestly say the most notable difference is the interior of the vehicle. The biggest differences to me are; the seats are 10000X more comfortable, road noise has been minimized, and aesthetics / fit and finish of the dash is night and day from the 08'.
Starting MSRP for a 2013 IS250 is $35,960. With similar options, you're looking at $38,450. So, you're going to pay $4,000 MORE for a car with 74 LESS horsepower? Good luck with that.
Hmm...I'm cross-shopping: 135i, 335d, Accord Coupe 6MT, Mustang 5.0, and the Subaru Sti. Oh yeah, old E34 M5's, as well, but a good one is hard to find. What do these cars all have in common? They're fun.
I forgot to add the only Mod to the 2013 Accord have been cold air intake and a few body spoiler options. I would love to get my hands on a HFP suspension kit but have been unable to find one for a 2013. I guess Honda enjoys making them hard to find and exclusive in order to justify the $4K plus charged for 500 HFP accord that were offered to the public.. The intake and the resulting exhaust note sound great and has improved the MPGs by only 5%. Acceleration has improved slightly but not enough to justify the intake for performance purposes. If anyone has info for the suspension kit I would appreciate some information.
Just bought one in white with the HFP package. The 2-door, 6-speed, with the body kit and rims is nothing like the sedan. It looks SHARP. People saying it should be rwd dont understand its still an accord. RWD would add more cost, weight, and not to mention you would want bigger brakes, and horsepower to go a long with it which would bring the price way up. Its not your typical accord
Beautiful car. Why doesn't the american version have LED headlights (not just the DRLs, but the actual headlights)? The Canadian version has those. You can tell the difference by the fact that this HID (or possibly halogen?) version has one projector vs the two on the LED unit.
What he means is town (comfortable enough for daily stop and go traffic) and country (sporty enough to tackle curvy open roads). Town and Country in 2013 doesn't mean what it probably did back in the 1970s and 1980s. Welcome to the future
the 4cylinder is about 25k if 33k is too much for anyones taste which honestly is a great price for the longevity honda's hold. a 4 cyl. is perfect in my opinion when it comes to this car
Cont. Even though you have kept the pedal in the same position the whole time. So you have to keep pressing far down on the gas to maintain any speed. It then gets worse mileage than without the eco. My Altima V6 cost far less for gas per month and I used premium gas. It was twice as fast from 0-60. My Accord is the slowest car I've owned including my 95 Altima which would smoke it from 0-60. On top of that it has such bad bump steer that running over a stick or rock jerks the wheel badly.
Personally, I think the Accord coupe is a worthy substitute and/or successor to the Honda Prelude. Sporty to drive yet very refined. For me, I'd get the one with the K24, not the V6, somehow I prefer the sound of the DOHC 4-cyl over the SOHC V6.
Well, after reading a little the ECO green button on new accord is something else. We still have the VCM but I cant feel it. Whenever I punch it, he will respond quickly. Also if I put it in sport mode there is no way in hell the car will run in 3 cylinder bc this beast goes from 0-60 in about 5.5 sec for AT and 5.6 for MT. Although, if I turn on the ECO button the car feels like it has a prius engine instead of a V6
Agreed. The ILX is not Acura material. It really is just a luxury Civic. The Accord Coupe V6, on the other hand, would be perfectly at-home in the Acura lineup.
When you visit ford website for the second mustang cause the first one already in junkyard, this honda accord should still be running in perfect condition.
I'd love to see them give this car some performance parts and cross over into the sports car territory. The only coupe this out performs is an altima coupe. Or maybe give us a prelude/s2000 to play around with. Dang you honda..
Thats a wide range of shopping choices. If you want good bang for your buck the Accord is unmatched. It won't turn as many heads though with just an "H" as a badge. Unfortunately people really don't know how nice the car is unless they own and drive it. There are lots of nice cars today though. Competition may be at an all time high.
Anyway from my understanding.VCM makes 3 cylinders to shutdown. But ECO affects the engine, transmission and other system like AC and cooling. I understand that 2013 accord even with the ECO off we have the VCM activating when needed and we dont feel it. On the other hand if we turn ECO mode on, holy shit. I loose 80% of my power.
It's a budget Audi A5, there is a market for it, I saw one on the road the other day, had a second look at it, found it very very attractive, not sexy hot, but very attractive.
My paint has chipped off around the door and trunk. Bad quality I guess. I do love the look of the car and the feel of sitting in the seat and the steering wheel, The long doors are nice too. I'm tall so it fits me nice because it's really big for a coupe. Once you start moving, the driving part sucks for all the reason I mentioned in my other comments.
Good review. They make the Coupe because Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan wussed out and gave up on the FWD V6 Coupe segment. Oh, and yeah, the Genesis Coupe is a whole different animal all together.
The Accord is built to a level of a premium car. This 9th generation could very well have an Acura badge on it. If you haven't driven one and looked over the interior you don't know. If you've driven it for several months now, you do know. If you have entry level Mercedes at $30k and the Accord EXL V6 in the same price range the car has to be decent with quality. A Ford Focus is not in the same class. Sorry!
Starting MSRP for a C250 sedan is $35,350. The C250 coupe is $37,800. Both of those come with a 201-hp turbo-4. Again...you're spending more money for less car...and that's BEFORE you start adding options to the Mercedes-Benz.
