you can really tell the difference between sl 63 and sl550 on 09-12 range model, the interior and body trim are different and very nicely done. but 2013 model they are almost identical and the interior i dont think it worths 100k, take a look at what they did to the S class it's amazing sort of high tech futurist interior way, but in SL it's feels retro, simple and kind of lame. the only thing i like about the 2013 SL are the headlight and taillight units which are very cool ! i'm planning to get 09 SL63 with 65 widebody kit. and it's only cost like 1/3 of a new lot! cant wait to get my hand on one of these!
That's actually a very good take. i don't care for the retro looking interior of this car either. The new S Class seems so much more modern and high tech -- it's what you'd expect from a high end Mercedes. I think I'll wait for the next generation of SL before I seriously consider it, especially given the price tag.
You may disagree with me on this but I tend to have the feeling that Asian cars will slowly take the majority of the world market, perhaps even provide in the best cars in the near future
Someone in my area is selling an 03' SL500. They're selling it for, (I hope you're sitting down) $12,955. What's the catch you may ask? It has over 210,000 miles on it, but Mercs run like bricks so that shouldn't matter. Is it running well? Like I said, Mercs run like bricks. So of course it's running well. Has been wrecked or damaged? I've checked it thoroughly. and the car checks out. It was pampered, and the owner is handicapped. So I'm assuming the owner is not some boy racer. Interior's cleaner than a babies bottom, and it's got a few imperfections in the paint, but it's nothing to cry about. And obviously the car isn't stolen or anything. I want to buy the car so bad... The temptation is strong. But I already have a C5 Corvette and a 92 MX-5. I don't want to break my piggy bank anymore. I'm having a hard enough time insuring my Vette... But come on! How many SL's do you see on a daily bases? And how many sell under 13K? JEEZ!
Please more reviews of cars for us 99% then for the 1%... I am quite sure the 1% won't need to watch this review... They just go out and buy these cars.
There's a lot of stuff to break down or just go wrong. Whenever I'm considering a new car I check some of the web sites detailing precise, real-world experiences that actual owners have had with their vehicles over time. They usually coincide well with the Consumer Reports owners' survey black dots.
I agree with you on Lexus although they are starting to progress quite fast. I'd like Jaqs a little more too if they were ever slightly reliable. Caddi seems to be doing good now but I still think the Germans are the kings of the auto world
Just bought a used 2013 for less than half the price of a new F-150. I got the original window sticker, $125,000, Wow what a fantastic used car these are!!!!!
The SL550 and the SL500 are the same car, same engine, same everything. The SL550 is only known, however, as the SL500 in certain countries, such as England, India, Australia and New Zealand.
Dude 106k base for all those standard equipment is pretty decent price to pay. No one will be stupid enough to sell a car with all that standard equipment for 65-70k. You get the harman and kardon sound system, Nav, that air conditioning headrest, the massage seats(not for kids) and probably more. Think about all those tech you get before making a stupid statement. The only thing a la carte was the sunroof blind which costs 2500.
German engineering at its finest! Mercedez Benz will always be the true standard of the world when it comes to the combination of premium luxury and performance!!! Sigh.....too bad America can't engineer anything close to this.....
that's a completely different car. for a 100k you can get an s class too. would you really compare two different cars in terms of just price or compare cars on what you actually need
A bulky, heavy 6-CD changer? Feels so "nineties". A USB flash drive holds 100x more. A fixed, proprietary GPS? Google maps on a cheap phone gives unlimited traffic, always up-to-date maps, top-notch dictation.
Japanese cars are the kings of reliability no doubt about that, American cars tend to give you more horsepower for your buck and most European cars give you the best looks and best interiors though Lexus and Infiniti are catching up. Even the Koreans are coming
Wow, only an 80GB hard drive in a super expensive luxury car.. Why not a 750GB or 1000GB drive? They make laptop drives that big nowadays at around $100 so why not.
