Such great reference, for buyers as well as people new to the car business! Another note about titles and older cars: many US states either don't issue or don't require titles for cars over 20-25 years old. I took a classic car in trade last summer and had to explain to a few people that the car didn't have a title, didn't need a title, and that was normal in my state. And it's good to learn what titles from your state/states you do business in look like, that's helped me a few times.

Lucky, fun fact and speaking from experience. Bought preowned used M5 back in the day from BMW dealer and almost 2 years later they lemoned it. So, it doesn’t necessarily needs to be brand new.

Back in the day I knew some crooks from Mississippi who bought high mileage cars at Big H Auto Auction in Houston. They would mail the titles to associates in Mississippi who didnt register miles on titles like Texas did at the time. They washed to titles into MS titles with no miles then sent them back to Texss where they were transfered back into Texas titles and miles listed as whatever they wanted them to be. They made bank but were known to be crooks among other dealers.

Arizona now has a fully electronic title transfer process even for private parties. You can still get a physical title from the DMV or transfer in person but because your drivers license holds your titles, they let you transfer online via a sales portal or a buyer portal.

In Nc you can insure a salvage and you don’t need to do an inspection to make it rebuilt unless it’s 6 years and newer.

I know that there are mis statements as well as accurate information pertaining to Illinois as well as Illinois with insurance law. I think it would be helpful if those of us that have personal friends that are 20 and 30 year employees of our state department of motor vehicles or whatever you want to name that department would sit down with those folks and input there corrections to help lucky in his quest to have a accurate one stop place for information. If you’re reading this and are stuck with a “FOR EXPORT ONLY” title I believe there is a way around this stamp. In about 1 week from this comment 10/11/21 I will upload a video explaining what process I went through and the location of where this office is located. I believe it is a third party DMV and I’m being directed here from the seller who I got the car from. He even said this office can help me bypass CHP🤞🏼

I have seen a lot of these titles on thee COART site and was wondering what the heck! I only knew of Regular Titles, and Salvage/rebuilt. I even heard of was ahsiing the titles between states. OTT I was like IDK and not sure what it means to me, Now I know. FNG here stay in the green lane. I figure its for new horn green folks anyway right Lucky?

What about a a Jeep? Is it OK to buy a Jeep with a rebuilt title? I have found 2 of them and I like them. If I do my research and everything is OK, I just want to make sure that a Jeep is still good.

I’m a little confused. I bought a car that had a salvage title on the pink slip. I never got a rebuilt title but was still able to register and insure it with no problem. Not only that, I also financed it too. But according to you, none of that is possible with a car that has a salvage title. How did I manage to do everything that was not possible?

I bought a rebuilt title car from Virginia an to register it in nyc I have to go through the salvage inspection but the car already went through inspection in Virginia cause it was in a flood so I don’t have no receipts to show whatever was fixed on the car. You missed it, there are 2 types of "Salvage Titles" and Insurance doesnt issue them. Insurance companies issue Salvage Certificates. People call these Salvage Titles, they are not. A salvage title term only applies to a title issued by the state, only after reconstruction and inspection. This is different type of inspection than normal yearly inspection.

It's been a Texas car from the beginning and I myself am in Texas. I thought Texas does not salvage title a car if it's just due to hail. I am getting the title in a couple days but it seems like it may be a salvage title? I'm a bit confused by this. Even before purchasing I called IAA and asked what kind of title I would receive. After giving them the VIN they assured me it would be clean. Any idea what's going on?

When you say non financeable, do you mean no car lot with sell them? Or do you mean car dealers can have them for sale but only at a cash price?

There’s a dealer where I live called Autosource I thought about buying from. I think they have a location in Vegas as well. They say their cars are “Branded Title” What does that mean? I don’t mind buying rebuilt title but branded? 🤔

Hey Lucky, question: what about salvage title classic cars? I bought a dozen classics from USA and imported them over here to Europe, and we are fully restoring most of them (I mean full rotisserie restorations), and some of them have clean titles and some of them have salvage titles (since most of them I bought from Copart and Iaai). Here in Europe, Clean or Salvage is not a problem, because cars (when finished) have to go through all kinds of inspections and when passed, they get EU title and is good to go anywhere. But what about US market? I mean, what if we decide to reimport some of the classics from here in Europe back to USA when the cars are complete and finished, just because there's a better market for some models there than here in EU. Will the salvage titles damage the value of a fully restored classic car? Is it insurable and financeble? (as I know financing is different for classics in US). I thank you very much in advance for your knowledge, been watchin all your videos for the past few years and they helped me a lot. P.s. The cars I'm talking about are first gen Camaro, C3 vettes, 55 Thunderbird, Old Broncos, Ramcharger, Range rover and so on - everything way older than 30 years. THANKS AGAIN!

I think you meant to say you have the "option" to purchase the salvaged vehicle, not the obligation. You are not obligated in any way to purchase the salvaged vehicle.

If I buy structural damage car in California, I wonder will that show on my new title ?

Someone is trying to sell me a “bonded title” it looks like an actual title and has their name on it. How can I know if this is the real deal??

A Gf left a truck at my house and disappeared, there’s no title no tags and it’s not hers . What do I need to do to put it in my name or sale it ? Or find out if it’s stolen ? And if it’s stolen should I just have someone pick it up ?

I appreciate that you are knowledgeable, however, you're making too many generalizations which aren't accurate. For example, CA and SD both accept an export only, an MS junk title can be converted into a rebuilt (it's stated on the DMV website) (I believe KY as well) and insurance companies can and do insure salvage (not yet rebuilt) vehicles (Progressive).

Is original title the same as clean title ?

What if you lose a title at your dealership how would you get a new title?
