Exactly! Sometimes paralysis is certain muscles, sometimes you can feel everything fine but cant move much of your legs. It all depends on how your nerves were jacked up.

It definitely matters whether or not you can move your legs or not. I am completely paralyzed from the knees down with pure numbness. Transferring with a board like that is not easy for me. I am completely nonweightbearing. And the ability to transfer easily Such as her does not work like that for somebody who carries dead weight. I know this because I have done it and it definitely was not a smooth and easy transfer. She also has a lot of upper body strength that makes transferring easy for her as well.

The use of the transfer board is most ideal when the heights of the car seat and the wheelchair seat are level. If the surfaces are uneven, the transfer board may still be used, but it will be more difficult sliding or scooting “uphill” from the lower surface to the higher surface.
