Darren shows you the actual products he uses to produce professional grade results in a simplified way when it comes to choosing upholstery cleaners. www.best-auto-d...
Hey i just wanted to say thank you for your sharing/caring to take the time and teach your products and techniques in general!! But on this specific subject of cleaners it is just so accurate and to the point.. one does NOT require a million different products to get the job done only for special circumstances/situations... this video & point is a must see for anyone getting into the business, Diy, "weekend warrior" whatever.. folks it's nice to feel the need to get Every product but truly unnecessary. Again thank you ;')
THANKS A LOT for sharing! I've been going through numerous product descriptions and reviews and trying to figure out a "simplified system" that would work without having to use a lot of different products, effective, and safe to use. It's exactly what I was looking for! All the other reviews didn't have the 25 years tested experience to prove that damage won't necessarily occur if you use an all purpose cleaner on leather for instance.
Thank you for helping us to get more streamlined in our business. You are blessing us with your knowledge for free and that I why you are gonna continue to be blessed beyond our imagination.
Love your videos. I use many Meguiars products from the ones you feature here to Megs #40 to much of the Detailer line. You do a great job explaining different aspects of detailing on all your vids. Great job.
Darren, I always enjoy your videos. It's great to watch someone cut to the chase and say what they think. Keep it up. Look forward to more videos and knowledge. Thank you for your great advice.
Kenneth Miles Your comment is both welcomed and ironic. If you have spent any time looking at some of the comments on numerous of my other videos, I am continually accused of being far too long winded. There seems to be two separate camps; those that like as much detail and information, and those that just want the "Cliff Note" version of how to do something without complete understanding or context. Thanks for tuning in!
Well those who actually use the products run into the questions you address. Those who just watch to criticize like to be a pain. Your input is reliable and informative. Good work.
Darren....I have enjoyed your videos!!! I respect your views and information.Thank you for sharing and taking 'your' time out from work to help others!!
Oh, this is great - Makes me happy that I'm not the only one, using alot of APC and Degreaser for almost everything. ;-) Couldn't imagine if I were to buy a cleaner for every single material/purpose. "A penny saved is a penny earned". Keep up with the videos!
Darren, I get not rinsing the carpet. BUT for those who have sensitive skin to cleaners what helps is to take an add'l step of a quick spray with water (as in from a water bottle) and then dry it up. This way you dilute/reduce the cleaner left behind a bit without having to take the time of a full rinse. I normally wouldn't do this, but my wife and kids have sensitive skin.
For two days, you really made my world easier sir. I was kinda intimidated for going into business due to the misinformation and oversecurity going on among chattes on forums. I detail cars but some of the info and "oversecurity" makes me think twice EVEN on things that i know for sure. Detailing a car shouldn't be that much of a big deal, I mean in terms of products. It should be fun, not intimidating. BTW i am not sure if i could choose the right words for my main impression. I am so excited for my new business and you kind of gave me confidence about not over complicating things. Also i'll appreciate if you could talk about IPA wipedowns and stuff you do for panel wiping after a thorough compounding. (To see the precise results)
Darren, thank you for posting this helpful video, thank you for keeping it simple, i'vd viewed one detailer on youtube (wad) extractor and pressure overload.
Hey darren jake here from georgia. I absolutely enjoyed this video I alwYs learn somthing new everytime I tune in to your channel..I have decided to switch my chemical line to the Maguires professional line simply because I enjoy the accessibility if being able to enter auto geek through website and make sure you get your percentage : ) thanks again darren will look forward to upcoming videos..
Great video, after either one of the meguiars products your showed, do I have to use another product or can I go straight to meguiars hyper dressing or leather conditioner for leather seats
Yes, its “Safe” but if you shampoo carpets with APC, it’s brightens the fibers (bad for dark cars) and leaves the fibers crunchy (as opposed to soft and luscious.)
Hey Darren i want to say thank you for your video's. And for you taking your time explaining what products really do the job and how to do it. I'm glad i found your videos' no more searching for me i would like to see a video on cleaning fabric upholstery i don't have the proper equipment for the job yet so i do the best i can by hand thank you.
Try this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZHn2DfH6on8.html It was one of my first so I am rather long-winded and very awkward in front of the camera. But you should be able to learn what you need form it.
I fully agree thank you darren for taking the time out of your busy schedule. To not only make videos but care for your viewers and help with anything we need!! True hard worker here
Great info, It's always great to get free advice from a pro'. Only suggestion I'd make is take a seat before your videos and script it, mind map keys points, then string them together in a flowing way considering the order you think is important. This will condense your videos, save time and stop digressions. Thanks again and I hope you don't take this the wrong way.
Neville Chapman I appreciate the tips. And very valid tips. I have tried and have made attempts to do this. At best I write a few notes as to sequence, but I am a "well of experience" and find it hard to restrain myself. I suppose this is where I need to apply discipline in yet another area of my life. I have sat on the fence with this whole RU-vid/ video making stuff for years as I knew it would be another learning curve I would suck at in the beginning. But just as I advise guys trying to get into the business, you will never be fully ready. There comes a point where you just need to start doing and realize you will have to learn certain things along the way. Thanks for tuning in!
Hi Darren, my name is kyler and I'm 16 years old.I love your videos and they have helped me a lot. I was wandering how to get water stains off windows ?
Hi Darren, its been a while since we see your videos. I hope you are doing well. I’ve bought the APC and was reviewing this video. The rinsing aspect caught my attention this time. Could you clarify if these dilutions actually need to be rinsed (from health aspect rather than the sticky feel aspect). Thank you ~
I’ve just started detailing trying to make a living doing it! I love cleaning cars have since I was 18 what’s the best advice you can give in regards to not spending too much time in one area? Sometimes I’ll get fixated on one area of the car and spend close to an hour on it. While my customers enjoy my work I also want to be more efficient, any tips or advice?
Hey Darren, Great Video. Question: I have a grease stain that some knuckle head put on my VW's beige headliner. Would you suggest using the Super Decreaser, a soft brush, and a microfiber cloth to take care of this? I know it is a delicate fabric, so I want to see what your opinion is on that. Thanks!!!!
Hey Darren love your channel got a question for you I was at a event this past weekend and one of the retailers was using lemon pledge furniture polish on a high end motorcycle trailer have you ever tried it
like the video, just one question how does you system work with stitching on any material that you use it on, Because I know that bleach will destroy the stitching in a short period of time. Lee
Well, Darren. I have no idea if I go with Meguiar's pro line or consumer line. Pro line seems so simple no bullshit. Car shampoo. Degreaser. APC. Etc...
Hey Darren, Thank you for doing the video about Meguiar Synthetic Quick Wax. Have been using Chemical Guys Better Wet Wax and i spend atleast an hour and half waxing my car until i watch your video about Meguiar Synthetic Quick Wax. That takes me 15 minutes to wax and i feel like crying cause i have spend my whole life using chemical guys better wet wax and its wasting of time. Thank you so much for doing that video, plus i have a question please, is it ok to use this chemical called IRON X, Or IRON DISSOLVER after clay bar or its does not matter using it.
Dear Guru, appreciate if you can advice should I use Meguiars Super Degreaser on Velvet Seat (milky white colour) ? Coz I tried Simple Green and APC with drill brush + water extraction machine on some serious dirty velvet seats and the effect is not good. Thank you
Afternoon Darren, I have a question....... I've been using the degreaser cleaner called formula 88. Have you ever tried that product or did you try it and find it wasn't as good as meguairs?
Hi Darren, my question for you is have you ever had a customer ask how your going to clean something. Do you tell them how you plan on cleaning it or do you tell them "If I told you how I clean it then knowone would come back for more details." Because someone did that to me and I told him how I got it so clean. For example the customer had dog hair in his car and wanted that specific thing done on the inside. So I cleaned it and dressed the interior like new and he asked how I got all the hair out of there. And I told him and ever since then I haven't heard from him. Did I break a detail rule or what. P.S I'm not a licensed detailer I do this in the summer time for extra money and experience but plan on getting a license later.
Great question! As a rule, due to the fact that I have been in the business so long and have positioned myself so as to not have to live in desperation mode, I can pick and choose as I want. This is a wonderful position to be in and requires time to get to this point. Part of that is being beholding to nobody...meaning, being basically debt free and not acting out of fear or desperation. Of course at the beginning of my career I was desperate and would take any paying job just to make ends meet. So my point is that I never mind answering questions completely honest to anyone; customers or fellow detailers. I think there is more than enough work for everyone and the reality is that most people really don't want to detail their own cars even if they knew how. Likely you are assuming this customer did not call you back for this specific reason, but you don't know for sure. I don't worry about things like that as it will drive you crazy wondering what happened each time a customer does not call you back. It will happen again, and it happens to everyone one of us. Rarely do we ever have the ability to know why for sure. Just keep perfecting your skills, understanding your competition as far as their level of service and what they are charging, and look for ways to separate yourself from the competition. I ask my customers specifically if there is anything I can do to improve the service in which I am delivering to them. It is a scary proposition, as you may actually have to hear some "inconvenient" information. But how can you improve if you don't ask the hard questions. Most people are unwilling to do this as they are afraid of the answer. Don't be afraid and just ask. That way you will know what you need to improve on for that customer, that in turn you can use with all your customers. Hope this helps.... D- P.S. There is no official license as a detailer. The only license you need is a business license from city to city. This has nothing to do with an actual license like as in a general contractor or such. Many guys think there is a "special" license you need to get. There isn't, and the whole subject of business entities, taxes, insurance, etc. can get confusing quickly.
I just got finished detailig a 68' Mustang convertable. I've never detailed a car that old and the paint i some spots must of been thin. Because my buffer burned a small mark on the fender. And again burned a small mark on the hood cowel. That one you can see bodo were the paint shop patched a small hole. But as business man I told him what happened. He was upset about it but said it water under the bridge you learned from that. I don't remember how many times I opologized to him and again he said "It's water under the bridge. He didn't pay me the amount we agreed on but I was expecting that any way. But he wants me to detail another car later this summer. So that's a good thing, because all his car's are classics. Thanks for the reply:) I subscribed to your channel keep the videos coming.
Hi Darren great videos, I have been sharing the links with family and friends. would Mother's all purpose cleaner be just as good? Seems easier to find them Meguiars. thank you. Jose
Jose Aguirre. Yes mothers is a great product. I have been in the car business for over 10 yearz and I prefer mothers all purpose over meguiars. Meguiars has a better super degreaser though
Does anyone know if here a risk in using the Meguiars degreaser product in the video above for all uses in the car interior? I get that 80% of dirt can be tackled by the all purpose cleaner but I would prefer to buy just one product (the degreaser) and then dilute it 10:1 for everyday cleaning and then 4:1 for extra strength neeeds. Just not sure if there would be any downfall to that approach other than higher cost of the degreasing version?
I know this isn't related to this video but I was looking for a wheel cleaner that I can use on painted wheels. I just got my oem wheels painted and I do not know if the APC is safe on them. if it is safe what dilution would you suggest? I do not wanted destroy the clear and also want to be able to take out the dirt and brake dust off them.
Yes, but will be less effective on the wheels themselves than the Wheel Brightener I use. And if you use dressing on your tires each week, you will want to clean the dirt off along with the old dressing, so the Super-degreaser will prove more effective on the tires. This link will take you to a page with both products on it. www.best-auto-detailing-tips.com/auto-detailing-supplies.html
For business use , Meguiar’s Detailer line is the way to go. But for my own personal cars i use Adam’s! I personally love amazing smelling products, Meguiar’s although being Extremely Effective ....doesn’t smell nearly as good as most Adam’s products . Just my opinion
Darren how ya doing?...got another question where i need to pick your brain......what would you use on alcantera/suede and at what dilution? and best method?......told ya lol...cheers and regards inadvance.
richardkkirk I still use my Megs APC diluted 10:1. Alcantara is easier to work with as it is synthetic, but you can still have success with suede but is a case by case and much depends on the dirt you are trying to clean and the color of the Alcantara/Suede.
Hello darren if you want to clean specifically door jams and metal areas of the car that are painted with Meguiar's D10101 All Purpose Cleaner. What dilution ratio would you go with?
Nope. If you read the side of the bottle it will say add water first to the proper dilution ration. If you still don't trust, use a measuring cup as it will confirm the same result. D-
