Thanks for this you might just be a life saver. Bought a motorhome only to find a past bodge job over a rotten floor. We are going to try this because the alternative is just too big to contemplate haha
That's a really good repair, to be honest even if there's a bit of moisture in the top ply of the floor it's not going anywhere. It really tidies up the locker too, just so long as the entry point for the damp is now good it's a win all round. Excellent video.
That looks great. Cleaned our front locker on Saturday and I was looking at getting some plastic fascia/cladding to tidy up the floor in there. Looking at that, I'll do it your way. Will add strength too. 👍
Hi Nick, glad to be of some help, bit of advice, if your doing it on a drive put some plastic protective sheeting under the caravan to save the drips from spoiling the floor, I did min on grass so it didnt matter as we hare having a lot of renovation work on the front drive
@@imsexyanditowit3905 how did you get on with the other damp laminating repairs? Can u do a vid on it? 1 Year on, how's the front repair holding up? Thanks
The only problem I can see is that the water will just continue to rot the floor away. They don't use decent ply and once the water gets between the lamination it just wicks its way into the rest of the wood. Trying to find out where it is coming in in the first place is essential. Cannot believe how they construct them. Talk about throw them together. The caravan is made by using a steel frame chassis and then putting a plywood base down. Then everything is mounted on the plywood base. If the floor is rotten then the sides have nothing to sit on and nothing to be fastened to. This is why they remove the floor and fit new plywood and why it costs so much.
