After the NEC Motorhome and Caravan show, we ventured south and spent an enjoyable week in the New Forest at the Caravan and Motorhome Club site (New Forest Centenary Site) This was our very first trip in the new Bailey Ridgeway caravan and we just wanted to unwind and relax. So this video is made up of random clips gathered over the 8 days stay.

Stayed on this site in the summer 2018, bought our first caravan that year, a 1989 swift challenger. Our first holiday we went from Merseyside to Wellington Country Park (GREAT FOR KIDS), then onto the New Forest. Then went down to the CMC site at Hillhead and stopped at Cirencester CMC site on the way back home for a couple of nights. We have just upgraded to a newer caravan, as you can guess we love caravanning. :)

Give a camping in the forest site a go for the best of the forest. Hoping to get a seasonal pitch at one next year with a new caravan. Your vlogs have helped us find our feet in caravaning after numerous years under canvas

Nice video and good to see you guys are enjoying the van. I changed the 6 spots in our van to the led dimmable ones with usb and love them. I used spade connectors and heat shrink so proper job and all was going well until the last two spots in the rear of the van.. i couldn't get the fifth one to work at all.. i thought there must be a loose connection so out came the voltage meter and a good half hour of checking wires ensued.. The wife asked "Could it be a fuse? "oh no" says i, "sure the ones at the front still work". We went to our dealer the next day to book a service to get it sorted and i talked to the Service guy about it. "Did you check the fuse?" I replied no because the other lights work. It was then that he explained that the two rear lights would have their own fuse... You can imagine the abuse my Mrs gave me... Anyhoo the new lights are great. One thing of note be careful leaving charging leads plugged into them as its quite easy to forget and sit down on the loose end of the lead and put tension on the port which wont do it any good at all.

The New Forest is a beautiful spot Dan, we spend many weekends in local CL sites as it is on a 45 minute drive for us. Glad you enjoyed it

Hi. I'm glad you're relaxing in your new van. I've been away for a week to YCP in York in my new to me 2016 Bailey Jive 400. I'm loving it but totally agree with you about the draining board, it's tiny. I found washing up in the sink and draining in the washing up bowl a good solution. Also, if you need any custom brackets for your caravan mods, I can 3D print some for you. Just let me know

Nice to see you all relax Dan, and enjoy holiday time. Glad you likeyour new van and fixed beds are wonderful. Like you, we need to look at our mattress. I would also like a usb point my side of the bed. Tina has one so I need to get my son the auto electrician to come and play😊

Hay Dan I thought you made arrangements to have had the extra bits fitted at the dealer, looks very nice I must say. Unfortunately I've sold my caravan because of the cost getting of the Isle of Wight so I've brought a camper van not the same as do miss the caravan

Hi Dan. Has your bin broke yet? We have 2018 pegasus rimini and i have had to glue it back together 3 times. It is the thin plastic holder around the internal top of the bin.

How did you ensure that the cat couldn’t escape the awning (or didn’t you)? - we’ve been staying local due to having a kitten but really want to to take him with us (along with the dog and 5 year old) thanks

Hi Jen, the cat has a harness on when he is in the awning, other than that he just stays in teh caravan. He isn't an outdoor cat - he was a rescue and has suffered some trauma from the great outdoors - as such he is happy to watch the world go by with a cuddle.

Interesting regard USB... we have the unicorn Barcelona And there are pockets below the lights to hold you phone or tablet

I always loved the idea of them, but in reality there is simply nowhere to put the phone in the Bedroom or the front of the caravan. The Unicorn has those rather nice side pockets and some shelves - so I need to look into that I think. Take care

Hi, no he genuinely hates the outdoors. He suffered some huge trauma as a kitten when he was born, and is happy to be cuddled and watch the world from behind a window. He does have a harness though. Just in case.

Iron out your few problems and then enjoy.shame about the bed will have a look at the make of our caravan mattress and let you know.we have a better nights sleep in the van than at home

Re caravan mattress ours is a gzio it’s in a coachman 2015 v.i.p 545 very comfortable firm and no roll together.hope this helps

Be warned if you take your bikes. We had ours stolen along with others on the same site near Brokenhurst and others on nearby site has bikes stolen on the same night. Quite a frequent occurrence apparently. Gangs operate in the area. Our bikes were chained to back of caravan under a cover. Quite distressing to think they are roaming around your pitch at night. Site staff showed no real concern and did not publish our warning review. Police do nothing. Real shame as we have had many previous happy camping trips to quite a few new forest sites.

Hi Dan. 1 Heating look at your I box setting 2 if you find a Tiger shop (Basingstoke) they have small holders to fit to wall for phone/ remote control 3 I always take my cat and dog away in caravan they love it but cat seems to hate near side front blind Yours Colin

HI Phil, we've had both - honestly this blown air heating is brilliant. it gets the van up to temperature far quicker than the Alde and is just as controllable. I will be covering off the 2 heating methods in a future video. Dan

Nice video Dan. The unicorn has some leather pockets on the walls under the lights to put phones in so you could buy some of those from Prima. Do you not use the rollaway anymore? Cheers Oliver

Hi Dan great vlog, we have the same problem with our mattress, only we roll into the middle agree with the idea of changing the radio/CD player our is ok but not DAB and i like listening to planet rock, maybe you could do a vid on how to change it. It's great not having to make the bed before you can go to bed, best part of the caravan. Looking forward to the next instalment and caravan review Cheers Jon

Nice to see you guys back on. We will Have to visit the New forest looks lovely place to be. We got new van at same time so been keen to see how your getting on with yours We have a Coachman and seats are opposite they are too soft would love little harder We have fixed bed also now but due to our 2 year old sharing with the wife I’m stuck to make up bed at front🙁 no change for me..so I still have that 10 o’clock thot better get bed made up..lol My wife also says our fixed bed quite hard think it’s common fault if you prefer little softer Looking forward to your next instalment guys especially on your new van which looks nice All the Best

How come is it that the European Trailers/caravans are better as far as amenities and designs are concerned and we Americans have to stick to the crummy (or is it crumby?) cookie cutter design/manufacturing of the trailers like Jayco and Winnebago? We Americans deserve better!

Glad you are enjoying your new van. the Unicorns have pockets for the USB devices at the front, maybe Prima leisure sell them or Bailey may give you a couple due to your relationship with them ! We live a hour away from the New Forest and visit on average 3 times a year, mainly on CL's though and really enjoy the area like you with Barney our spaniel. Looking forward to the next vid, keep them coming. PS any news on Trudgfest venue for 2019 ?

Hi Dan, Ange and Chloe, great to see you back out caravanning, I bet it feels like an age since you were last out in the old van. Have you tried a micro fibre towel “ doggy bag” for chops, we got one for Hetty at the NEC last year, absolutely brill, really recommend. Gear vid big 👍

Re USBs -use longer charging cables and source the wall pocketsmagazine holders used in the Unicorn range. Regards the "squeak" in the lounge it may well be small the L shaped brackets which attach the base of the units to the floor. These come loose causing movement as they are too short as there isn't not enough depth in the timber floor to get sufficient grip. Dealer told me to use thicker, not longer screws.

Hi Dan, we were also on the centenary site the same week as yourselves do recall seeing you pitched and was intrigued by your Ridgeway as hadn't heard or seen before. We visit the new forest every October as the site and wardens are fantastic. Also my son is the ghost rider in your part 3 video.

Love the New forest so much! Got to spend 4 weeks down there this year was incredible! Going down again for the weekend at the beginning of December for a Handel's Messiah concert in the Priory church in Christchurch but not taking the van as its only for 2 nights but will take the china tea set and find somewhere to have tea in the forest and get my fix of trees. Another great video too by the way!

Nice to see the honest likes and dislikes Dan, and none of them are summountable. RE the Bailey 'Mensa' lights www.caravanaccessoryshop.co.uk/product/led-spotlight-with-switch-and-usb-port-12v/8690 - if you're buying a few postage is cheapest here. RE your squeek, did it come and go in the same trip, or was it different each time? In Elvis his can sometimes squeek depending on how firm I have one of the steadies down? (mind he's 15 yrs old). And RE memory foam, I am SO with you, I don't like feeling I am in a dip!!

Hi Marcel, thanks for the message. Its fair to say that when doing the rounds and investigations - there will be things that we didn't consider and wouldn't be aware of until we use the caravan. We always knew the front seats were quite firm, and we liked that. we spent perhaps 30 mins sitting in one prior to us buying one, and really you would need to sit in it for a good couple of hours for a number of days to really understand how firm or soft it is. And as for the mattress, again, we would need to sleep in it to understand how the mattress behaves etc. The other issues, such as the reading lights, have again only come to light as we have been using the caravan. Hi Dan and family. Your comments really struck a chord with me today. We recently bought a brand new Lunar and some of build quality is appalling. Wrong window catch on the front window, cover missing on a ceiling light, loose fittings. This shouldn't be happening in a new van. Also the radio issue is annoying. You spend almost £20000 on a new van and they can't even put in a dab radio.

The UK caravan industry expects the customer to do final quality control via warranty claims. Swift is no better. Don't even get me started!

...as for DAB, I wouldn't bother unless you're happy with 80 kbps mono (yes, mono!!), which is all the bandwidth allocated to many stations (I think R3 gets more). It's better than MW, but that's not saying much. FM is far superior sound quality wise, albeit it doesn't have the choice. If you have phone signal, you'll probably get better sound quality by streaming radio over the internet and putting it into your radio via the aux in socket. It doesn't eat up that much data (unlike video). If you can't get 4G, you probably can't get a decent DAB signal anyway (in my experience)...

I got a Sony A510-BD radio for mine. It's DAB, analogue and Bluetooth but doesn't have a CD player (I don't have any anyway). It will also display voltage which saves me going to the electric cupboard to check when off grid. And as an added bonus the remote that came with the old fitted Sony radio works with it! I think I paid about £90 from Halfords in the summer.

@@howejones4126 No I bought a splitter from Amazon that takes the cable from the aerial and splits it to analogue and DAB. It works great with just the little side mounted FM aerial on my caravan.
