I love this concept. I'm an asiduous note taker and love the idea of instant digitization. However, the blackboard smart note set currently costs $175 from boogie board. It seems difficult to justify this as opposed to simply purchasing a tablet that has much more functionality and pen that can be used for writing. At this point I have a Lenovo Chromebook that I use for this function. At closer to $100 I think boogie board would do better business.
The Boogie Board Sync does both, it live writes and also you can push the button so what's on the screen goes to your device to save. It also organizes easily by drawing a line on specific parts of the board. I'm here because it's not working any longer and I'm heartbroken and looking for an alternative.

I didn't have any trouble with the screen getting scratched or the pen tip wearing out. However, the device itself is very thin, and I think it could be easily broken.
I sold my letter size Boogie Board Blackboard (the large one) and the smart pen and have been using the note size and manually scanning the screen with the app. However, about a week ago the app started crashing when I tried to launch it. I checked Boogie Board's website and they are aware of the issue with the Android app and are working on it. I really like the note size blackboard and use it a lot, even without the app, but I'm going to be pretty disappointed if I lose all my previous scans.
Other than for transcriptions for, say, lectures, I don't really see the point in this device, Cathy. You mention an earlier model - (the Sync ?) that transcribes simultaneously - to my mind, that would be the better device. I sometimes consider that tech companies over-engineer their products - & by extension, slow the process down as the technologies (apparently) improve....Hmmm, cannot say that I am wholly sold on the idea, but certainly, each to their own :)
I don't have the pen, nor do I plan on getting it, but the board itself has saved me so so much paper. I'm learning Latin in college right now and this was great for parsing out sentences.
I have the sync and it is great. It's a bit small though and a pain to fully erase something. I wish we would have gotten a letter size version of that but I'm looking to see if this would be a good alternative
If you write and press Save, you have to save all of them, but some of them can't save and some of them can't save the spelling in the word. Why is that?
The exact erase feature of the Boogie Board Blackboard does still work with the Carbon Copy Pen. Holding the exact erase button on the Blackboard and scribbling over the area with the tip of the Carbon Copy Pen will erase that area. This method works with the included pen as well.

Give us a synopsis of what the Carbon Copy pen does first in the video, so we can figure out if we want to watch the entire video. A viewer has no idea what the pen is going to do for them.
100 plus dollars for a simp[le bluetooth device is a non-starter. the pen can't cost more then a few dollars in parts for the price gouge is silly. no thanks
