I had a problem with a fuel starvation issue on my IH 434 - tractor chugs along after running 5 minutes or so then dies. I had this problem years ago and changing the points solved it. So I installed new plugs, coil, condensor. Last week I did notice that once it stalled, the only way to get it regoing was to manually pump the lift pump 20 times, it would then start fine, run for 2 minutes no problem, but then stall again. You would have to manually pump it again to get it running. This would seemingly point to the lift pump. I got a lifter rebuild kit from my Case dealer, a rebuilt lift pump didn't resolve it. I disassembled the carb today and clean out every jet, nook, and cranny. With the carb off I decided to check the volume of fuel through the fuel line. Voila! The first set of pumps were decent but then it petered out quickly. I removed the line from the tank to the lifter and that seemed ok. I opened up the valve from the fuel tank and was only getting drops out even though the tank was half full! I siphoned the tank down and removed the valve - it was plugged with debris! I recommend putting a strainer on the mouth of the tank.
Thank you for showing the throttle linkage from the hand lever. I found out in my research that I have a 2300A which is the yellow industrial sister of the red 354 (it was repainted red). They share the same operating and repair manuals. Not all have a foot throttle.
Thanks for the video! Just worked on the Zenith VNN carb on my '75 IH354 today, it was flooding the engine. Found out there was debris in the float valve (rust from the tank 🤦♂), so I cleaned it all out and cut new gaskets for the float bowl out of a cereal box. Runs better, but it fouled out cylinders 2 and 3, they only fire intermittently. I can get them to fire if I pull the plug wires off and hold them a little away from the plug, so hopefully cleaning and regapping them will help.
@@fredricdolman3004 pretty much the whole throttle assembly. From the steering wheel to the motor. Also trying to find a carburetor. Mine works, but the hole is stripped out where the fuel line comes into the back of the carb. This ole girl has been worked hard!
@@louismickels526 CASE has the tractor in the online parts catalogue... with exploded parts diagrams. Then take the parts numbers and try googling just the number (sometimes this gets results). I also believe the carb was used on some other applications... so try searching just the carb. I think Ive seen carbs on ebay in the past.
Good day from Ontario, Are these tractor noted to have carburetor problems. I know were there is 444 gas & it has carb problems , been at the repair place for 2 yrs. I was thinking about asking what they are asking for it? Thanks
Your guess is as good as mine. I keep mine half way roughly. but turning it in all the way or out does not seem to have any noticeable effect on engine RPM or running.
