Carburetor Idle Jet Removal is a technique that once you learn it, you will know it forever. This exact trick can be used on idle jets that ARE commonly removed but may be snapped off from a P.O or heck even you! No sweat, here I wanted to show a quick trick for extracting almost anything in the carb that you need to get out.

Finished working on my '03 Honda Shadow ACE and spent a lot of time watching your tutorials to make sure I got things right. After riding her for a while, I have the feeling it's time to adjust the valves. Please consider a tutorial on that subject. Stay frosty brother

thanks for the tips and tricks big guy. i actually have 2 of these jets broken off in my carbs and plan on changing them when the jets come in. This 87 Honda Magna VF700C has been a real learning experience and the info you put out there is golden. I really appreciate the work you do . Thanks

I heat the carb body in the oven to about 100 degrees and use a puller tool that I made myself and that grabs the outside of the idle jet. Works fine.

Many later-model 1970s CBs also have these Keihin 3L press-fit idle jets. For example, my 1978 CB550K has them. It's nearly impossible to clean them thoroughly without removing. But you can do it nondestructively with heat and soft-jaw pliers. When they're really tight, it often helps to rock them ever so slightly side-to-side, not enough to ram the tube into the side of the air passage, but just far enough to break loose from the seat.

Nice video , i had to re jet carbs on a 78 cb400 , the jet is recessed so i tapped it with a 4/40 tap and used a long bolt / nut / washer as a jack screw to pull it free..... I did not reuse as i was going bigger but it didn't seem like the few threads cut would interfere with the jet function the ammout of debris i cleaned out was enormous BTW

Nice. And people, just know that once you do this that jet is trash so make sure you really want to do it. Take your time and have a new jet in hand.

Cody, I have a small hairline crack/fracture in one of my carb bodies (1975 Honda CB750). It got dropped during vapor blasting. The crack is couple mm's long and it's right at the top of the tube where the brass emulsion tube screws into the carb. Is there any epoxy I can use that wouldn't be destroyed by gasoline? Structurally the carb seems okay, emulsion tube still screws in fine, just hoping that crack doesn't go past the end of the emulsion tube threads.

Hey Cody just a question my bike has been sitting for about 3 years its a yammaha yzf1000r thunderace the tank was drained and all the carbs where run dry before l storage. l am bring out now and putting it back on the road if l run 95 octan fuel and fuel doctor addative in it do you think it will clear if ant crud in the carbs if any, or do you think l should pull all the 4 carbs out and clean then all. l have never done it before but l have watched all you videos so l have the basics on what to do. Can you give me your option on whats best , try it see how it goes or fully dismattle them. love your videos very well done very interesting all so. if you get time can you do one on a clucth on a bike like my one.. Regards and best wishes John from Australia.

Thaks for this Video it will help me get my Stuck Clogged Pilot jets out of my Carbs on my 1986 FJ1200. I have been been unsuccessful till now. Quick question removing a jet this way can you reuse them or do you recommend replacing after using the extractor tool?

I was wondering the same thing. Will removing the show jet this way render it unusable? Similarly, would it be possible to clean or unclog the jet without removing it from the carb body?

Thanks for share! please excuse my wrong english. I need some help now not about this special content but yes for jetting. I'm crazy looking jetting my Honda XR150L, Keihin PD 20mm bore carburetor. I'm not a technician just researching. Local service does not have a O² sensor and spark plug reading knoweledge seems not to be good. I made 2 times plug chop for main jetting and it goes wrong without vissible carbon deposits making me to ask for myself if jets I have been testing are out of range or still in lean range. Stock jets are 38 and 102, 150cc, 20mm bore carburetor, 1500f ASL, 82~95°F. Chevron "97 RON". spark plug reading shows white dots, white deposits so jets are very lean. I jump for #112 main jetting but plug chop shown just a little brown mark but not a complete ring and spotted at the upper part of insulator and oriented to the exhaust valve, not more! This question is for your knoweledge, for this engine, carburetor and environments, what numbers of jets could be the range to test? I just like to protect my engine from overheating and knocking or some else failure... Thanks!
