Got my scooter up and running thanks to this video! I'll admit I messed up the first time and didn't notice. Boy did that cause a lot of grief. After watching the second time, my father and I rebuilt it properly and my scooter fired up first pull! :D Perfect timing too since I'm going camping tomorrow morning too. Thanks for sharing all these videos, I really do appreciate it. I hope you don't mind me downloading all your scooter videos in case I ever need them for later use (With no internet).
I am so glad I ran across your video. Thank you for posting this. My mini chopper is running better than ever now. I got the rebuild kit for $3.70 gotta love it.
Great video! I should have watched before I too my carb apart. Do you have any videos showing how to put the throttle return spring back into the other side of the carb. I probably shouldn't have taken it apart, but I wanted to get everything clean and all of a sudden the spring flew out. Now I'm screwed! Any advice??
Cool vid. I'm still waiting for a coil for my scooter. That might be why it's always had low power. If that doesn't fix it, I'll check the muffler. And if that doesn't fix it, it'll probably be too expensive to fix. The piston looked a little scratched, not scored, just lots of thin scratches.
This looks almost exactly like the carburetor on my Hangkai 3.5HP outboard motor. The motor looks like it might be the same. It's a 2 stroke outboard boat motor that is water cooled. So it has a water jacket installed on the engine which a lot of people keep saying it looked like it came off a weedwacker. You ever get a chance to work on such a motor? I'm sure it's fairly similar. Also if it is almost exactly like the Walbro carb, is there an aftermarket one that will give it more HP or work better? If anything I'm more interested in the reliability factor rather than gaining any HP. Thanks for your input!
Jimmy Pham i have the exact same outboard mate you you are correct they are exactly the same besides the water cooled head as for reliability just keep the tools you got with ya motor in ya boat also i just got a second carb off ebay for 13 bux aus
Carb cleaner destroys rubber parts. Avoid spraying primer bulb and the orange or black rubber valve. Also avoid spraying meter diaphram, gaskets and pump diaphram. Be especially careful to avoid getting spray in check valve which has small rubber disc inside.
Carbs need cleaning when the engine wasn't run dry (till it dies from lack of fuel not just emptying the tank manually) before storing it for the winter months. If it's "put away wet" the gas turns into a varnish. As long as you are regularly cleaning the fuel filter and regularly clean the air filter with gas then oil it carbs rarely need to be rebuilt. And at under $10 for a new carb why bother unless you want it running in under the week it takes for its replacement to show up
heyy man, i have the exact same scooter and i am doing some upgrades, and i wanted to know what carburetor i can use to replace mine. i have my chinese one but i would like to get a walbro WYK or ? what can i use thankss so much this will help me a lot. in the video you showed the walbro.
Hey Doni, I have a barrel style that drips gas from the venturi while it's off the unit. I have rebuilt it but it's still dripping and causing it to flood and very hard starts. Whats the cause?
at 4:55, I'm trying to rebuilt mine, just a quick question, can you blow air through the crossed middle hole ? I presume its the passage for the main jet ?
also on the bigget of the two gas lines should you be able to blow air through it? i can see that its not blocked when disassembled but when i assemble it i cant seem to blow air through it. Please respond
I have the same carb on a midi moto and when I tried starting the bike petrol would just poor out of the carb, cleaned carb and same thing, any idea what it could be?
Hi Don, no scooter questions but would like your expert opinion. My cs 300 symptoms are, starts after many pulls. Runs runs runs, revs fine but if i don't hold idle up a bit it dies, then pull, pull, pull, nothing. Brand new carb and filter lines look good. Truly frustrated, specially after buying new carb. Will keep playing with it. Thanks Don.
OK, the site im getting parts from has the Walbro WYK-33 barrel carburetor, Walbro WYK-58 barrel carburetor, and a Walbro WYK-194 carburetor. But no WYL's. would any of these work do you have any of these? thanks
Hi Donnyboy, I have been trying to obtain a diaphragm for my carby to no avail, its identical to the one you are repairing in this vid only the diaphragm I have has the 4 holes for the screws and the 2 holes on1 end of it but mine has a 3rd hole in between the 2 holes at the end and all the ones I can find dont have the 3rd hole and I noticed the one you are fitting does not have it either can you help me here please
Donyboy, where did you get your carburetor kit to buy, i, got the same type of carburetor on my weed wacker but cannot locate a carb kit Thanks Winston.
as it states on the can "Carburetor Cleaner", DO NOT USE carb cleaner on small engine carburetors. Unless your cleaning the Body of the carb. Even at that it needs to be the body that has the rubber tip on the needle. If it has the rubber o-ring at the base of the needle seat and you use carb cleaner it will destroy the rubber and all rubber parts it comes into contact. Its best to use Foaming engine de-greaser with the small red tube. Put it next to all the small inlet holes and spray, it will remove all the debris out of the carb fuel passageways. Good informational video.
hi I have one of those stand up scooters and when I tried to remove the inner needle (the one in the top screw ) the needle broke. can I get just a needle or do I have to get the whole carb? if I can get just the needle please tell me where. thank you
First i would clean it with carb cleaner then blow the crap out of it with a air compressor like at 80psi lol then i guarantee it will work like new because i done this like 20 carbs and never had a problem.
Hi, on my generator the carb is virtually identical similar but has primer bulb separate , only problem it cuts out under higher load ,could it be mixture ? How do I adjust mixture there is no screw ,it even runs with the choked on indicating its to lean maybe ? Any tips. ?
@@donyboy73 hey thanks for the info I will clean it again ,one odd thing a very small pyramid shape spring seems to be amongst my dismantle its not the tiny spring under the metering lever , its narrow one end bit wider the other ,its maybe 5mm long any idea were it goes there's no points with springs it maybe come from the part were the diaphragm chrome cover goes but I am not sure, I can not see any similar spring in any videos I've viewed ?
thankss.. i have exactly the same carb, on my leaf blower..
