I met Jeff in my local bar about ten years ago , he was shocked that I recognized him...when he was leaving he came to find me to shake my hand and wish me a good night. lovely bloke.
he still does it, he has the reputation of hanging around and having a few beers either at the venue or close by bars.... great dude, Bill also a great guy when at signing sessions but i guess he does not drink or not as social as Jeff after the shows
i agree with you, carcass was my favorite between early to middle 90s and then i moved to more extreme music, but i still consider them unique, whereas most of the other bands i liked during that phase i completely lost interest
A lot of their songs carry a similar message, especially cause this era of carcass was when Jeff and Bill we're vegan. Jeff used to be a hunt sabotuer!
Every song on this album has very bizarre meanings. I forgot which on but there is a song about making guitar string with animal sinew. They are and were vegan as well.
@@aaronazagoth6373 Carneous Cacoffiny is the song and once again not animal but human sinew. The most of the album concept is about economical ways to dispose dead human bodies. They aren't vegans or vegetarians anymore
This song is absolutely crushing, I don't understand how none of my metal friends ever introduced me to Carcass or how I never checked them out until last year. Celtic Frost is another. I knew of them probably since 2001 but never bothered. I'm 39 now and there's just so many awesome bands from the past, some I'm just discovering.
@@CAPTAINSARGE Today u can just go on your cell phone and find everything. 20 years ago I'd say Death was the band we listened to the most. Many of them were in local death & black metal bands. I just find it insane that over the years and all the friends we weren't listening to Carcass.
Im not one of those assholes who thinks music "Sucks now", but quite honestly they could just stop making metal and I would be perfectly happy diving through the catalogues of everything that already has been

This song reminds me of when I was 13 way back in 93'. My dad let me drive his White Jeep Cherokee around the neighborhood by myself. He had a $3000 system in it. I blasted this track and scared all the neighbors.
Carcass is my actual fave band of all f**king time, and when we played with them in Calgary like 10 years ago it was an absolute dream come true to hang out with these guys for a weekend, absolutely surreal, best musical experience of all time, never laughed harder❤
Discovered Carcass nearly 7 years ago. No band touches the level of thought, intensity, consistency, in every aspect. Symphonies of Sickness is still my favorite album after years of digging through hundreds of punk, metal, industrial, noise, and power electronics releases. Why they arent considered to be the greatest death metal band, let alone metal band, perplexes me to this day.
I still have this CD I bought when the album came out. Still listen to it. I saw these guys at Bogarts in Cincinnati back in 1991 I believe. Man what a show! One of my all-time favorite metal bands!
I saw these guys in '92 in Syracuse NY on the campaign for musical Destruction tour with Brutal Truth,Cathedral & Napalm Death my jaw stayed on the floor for the entire show,I had some hessian using my mouth as an ashtray. Jeff Walker autographed my T-shirt for myself.
In 2013 in Bergamo, Italy, I went to the Fosch Fest and while eating pizza and drinking several grappas while waiting for the concert of our beloved Liverpool 4 I saw a lanky figure with long blond hair and a pair of bell-bottom jeans walk by among the people. No one seemed to recognize him. I ran after him, shouting "Bill Steer!" Whereupon everyone got up to chase him...when I caught up with him he shrugged his shoulders as if to say "I was quiet going about my business...but now you've found me out!"...then he smiled at me and I shook his hand.
I don't know how long I've been obsessed with this song. I've listened to it everyday for over a decade. I've been trying to figure out the first solo for years, and only just now think I've learned the notes. I don't know a lot of theory, but having just learned about passing tones, I think I've made sense of the lick in this solo that has been giving me grief this whole time. Still gotta get it up to speed to know for sure if they're doing what I think they're doing

Actually the videos capture their offbeat creative style nicely… grimey yes but poetic. I’m not a lover of elaborate music videos anyway, just give me the band playing with some bad ass headbanging hair shots and we’re groovin 🤘🏼🤪
I suspect that they probably only had a about £1.50 in the ‘video making’ budget! But to be honest the only place I ever saw a Carcass video played was on MTV’s Headbangers Ball but it was only played in the ‘Triple Thrash Treat’ section of the show where real fans like us clearly voted for Carcass every week as they played this video every week for months and months!! 👏🤘🙏🤣
Carcass are one of the true pioneers of Death metal. Along with Death, Napalm Death and Obituary. 'Incarnated Solvent Abuse' is still without question one of the coolest, most original/unique Albums/CDs of all time.
Riffs on this album are unbeatable honestly. It still blows my mind after first hearing this album probably 20 or so years ago at this point. It’s a true classic
In 92 I was playing this on the stereo and my GF was saying in disbelief that it was incredibly heavy and so different from everything before. Turned out it is different from everything that came after too. Such a unique album
Crust-core-grind-core-death metal and somehow that mix sounds catchy ?!?! I still remember hearing this on headbangers ball and being blown away. This is one of my all time favourite tunes 😀
I remember first discovering CARCASS in 8th? 9th? grade.. i sat w my dad ( an ICU RN over 30 years) for 40 mins (at an age where i would usually be trying anything to be around him as little as possible cuz, ya know, i was 14 , hated him and he was a useless, sell- out, old man) as he explained what the medical terminology, physiological descriptions meant. Carcass were the reason he and i got to actually connect and enjoy each others company for a rare moment. Ly Jeff

saw this late on Tv one night and although I'd heard of the bands name and nothing else, I said to myself I bet this is that Band Carcass, so without hearing a single song, I knew it was them. Funny. this video so perfectly captures the idea!! And the album is perhaps the greatest death prog ever.
This is the shit guys. This is my shit. It doesnt get any better than this. Cast your mind back, all the people who experienced the sheer joy of this kind of music when it was being perfected in the late 80s-early 90s. How brutal it was. How intense. How menacing. And how beautiful. Great times.... I'm happier than i can say that i was there....
When I bought their first album it blew me away because this was the introduction to the genre of grind core and me being into the Cro mags,Poison Idea, Agnostic Front,etc, as well as death metal..this is what the underground punk/metal scene needed!!.
Carcass has such a unique sound. The heartwork riffs are so amazing. Mortal coil sounds like a death metal version of Iron Maiden the gallop riff. Such a good song
Absolutely agree with all comments, Ken had this groove (even during the blast beat grindcore days), it really comes to the fore on NDTI, HW, and Swansong...as for Paul Bostaph, yeah, the guy can play, but he is no Dave Lombardo; Wilding is pretty bloody good, an able replacement for Ken...
I read somewhere that the red Ibanez that Mike is using here was actually borrowed from Bill for the video AND I think the album as he didn't have his Flying V in posession.
