Best and most comprehensive explanation of Castle building and defensive uses. Love the fact that you don't have background music (noise). Thank you.

I LOVE this kind of content, makes me want to go there so bad. Great descriptions of the castle features! Even when I understand the features, castles are still mystifying imo

A very pleasant surprise finding this on your SI channel - but you are right, it is something incredible. Carcassonne is like the Disney castle, only older, original and authentic. It is also a great place for exploring the Pyrenees foothills and gorges nearby, with there hidden villages, built into caves. I’d also recommend nearby Limoux, especially at carnival time. Try the Blanquette de Limoux for a bubbly evening of fun 🎉🥂🍾

Impressive video. Honestly one could imagine that castles have a defensive use, but that was brilliantly put together and i will never see a castle wall the same way again.

holy crap man, how is this channel so undersubcribed and underviewed?

I think it's a result of how the RU-vid algorithm works. It rewards channels that consistently cover the same thing. So if you seem to be interested in castles it will send you to Shadiversity or perhaps Lindybeige, who are always going on about castles and sieges and medieval warfare. But RU-vid evidently has this channel categorised as a science or evolutionary biology channel. So I've only just come across this excellent description of how the Carcassonne castle defences work, despite watching plenty of videos about castles. In fact RU-vid didn't even recommend it - I found it myself by searching through the channel's video list after being impressed by another of their videos about ancient fossils from the very remote pre-Cambrian Ediacaran era!

@@ianstobie Thank you that explains a lot. Well I guess every comments count to push this gem of a channel
@ianstobie
@ianstobie Год назад
@@PiterburgCowboy Yes, I think all comments help. I'm not sure if RU-vid also uses the comments to help categorise what the video is about. If so Castles, Sieges, medieval architecture!

@@ianstobie well lets celebrate the channel about Castles, Sieges, medieval architecture! I honestly never saw something that was as educational about this topic. Plus it looks very professionally produced. Well this is a 3 years old video. Maybe the channel needs to re upload their works. It would be an absolute waste of an effort for this being buried in the depths of youtube.
