Enjoyed the tour. I also enjoy seeing how others organize, store, and display their collections. I’m always struggling to find a dedicated space where my collection can call home.
Thanks for sharing, that was awesome with the woodworking as I like to do my own projects as well,so glad you get to work with your dad, that is so special and don't take it for granted as my dad passed in 1995 and miss him every day. Thanks again, see in Chicago!
Great use of the space you have! Love the new beast for comics. Can’t believe how many autographs you have on the wall and they are so unique. So cool!
Love the look of the card room. My favorite is the time you all had with each other putting it together. I can't think of anything better than that family time.
It's funny. I've heard your pops' voice so many times on GAOC. First time seeing the legend himself! Thanks Mike for sharing your card room. Your storage solutions have inspired some creativity for my own card storage!
Now that's a tour that's worth the time! Great additons and kudos to your daughter for the arrangement, and of course your son and dad. The blood makes it even more special Appreciate you sharing.
Love the passion for the hobby, Mike... and also love seeing how collectors store their items. I've compiled a large collection, which is stored away in folders and boxes (not presented). A few framed items (in storage). I always tell myself that the cost involved in framing/presenting items could be better spent on making/acquiring more items - and so the cycle continues. One day I'll get around to it! 🙂 Great to see how you've got three generations of your family involved in making, what will become family heirlooms for future generations. We're all merely custodians for future generation, after all. Keep up the great work, Mike! New subscriber, but have seen you on many other related channels. Looking forward to watching your past and future uploads. 👍
I totally get the mental struggle between quality storage and buying more items for the collection. Keep watching. I mention other channels all the time.
Even with a jig that's an insane amount of dovetails especially using plywood for the sides. I couldn't see any blowout. Your son did an excellent job Great room tour. You did a brilliant job storing and displaying so much in a tight space without looking like a yard sale. Very nice.
Thanks Drew. You are right, it was pretty amazing that Palmer cut all of those dovetails without hardly any blowout. He did have a jig, but you have to be so careful with the router when cutting.
I like these walk thru videos too. Your room turned out fantastic! My room needs a lot of work. My beast is set, but everything else might get moved. Thanks for sharing, mike!
Thanks for the tour! What an amazing card room, even in a small space. The vintage rotating display case right inside the room caught my eye. The three generations behind the scenes was a nice added benefit. Maybe they can help you build out a bigger room next time! lol.
Awesome set up Mike! Congrats on getting the "Hulk" done. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks for all the content and enjoy the National. I'm not going this year but leaving tomorrow for my annual Cooperstown Induction weekend.
Now that's a hobby room. I was blessed with a 1 of a kind wife that let me take the living room. Lol but I'm looking into buying a new house that allows me something similar to your set up. Thanks for the tour.
@@BaseballCollector I really value your opinion in the hobby. Can you possibly do a market watch on vintage? Like a bi- weekly or monthly report on the health of the hobby. Thanks again.
Wow, thanks for showing the cave, the work shop, your progress snd your great family Mike. Those wood working skills are incredible. This is so cool, will meet you some day, I hope… a fellow HOF 50-70’s collector living in TX. Thanks again for sharing.
MIke - What an absolutely amazing refuge, so thoughtfully arranged, and beautifully displayed. The craftsmanship of your comic book "beast" is exquisite. And, of course, the lifetime of collecting really shines here. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to seeing you at the National next week. Chuck - North Side Guy
This is so impressive! I really enjoyed the workshop experience. You probably should have charged admission to watch this video 😃. I think you should add at least a few original Hartland Statues to go along with the Bobble Heads! I’ll be watching for you at the National so that I can say hello.
that card room looks amazing, its come along ways. i remember your card room was one of the very first youtube videos i watched way before i considered even making content. cheers big ears!
Amazingly well put together and organized room. Seeing your comic books in those magnificent new cabinets, sure beat my 14 long boxes. Sold my whole comic collection before moving to Northern Virginia sadly but moved my whole sports collection. Helped with the move and got myself a fantastic baby grand piano. Still collecting just not comics. Nice tour.
Agree, these kind of videos are some of my favorite. I didn’t watch much of anything Hobbypalooza, but I’ve watched Garrett’s hour a handful of times now.
Great video! Dad has a great shop. Family project, doesn’t get any better! Fav piece is the 3000 hit artwork signed. The comic cabinet has Mary Jane or maybe The Thing. Have a great time at National
Not sure just yet. I spent $2,000 just for the wood for the new comic cabinets. So you can imagine how much they will actually cost. We are just not sure if there is a big enough market for that price scale
Mike quality isn’t cheap. They are beautiful. Well I’m not going to make National but I’m going to be at the Dallas show in sept, hope I run into you and finally get to shake your hand.
Dude that is a nice set up. I think you have OCD way worse then I do....LOL. It looks like you have plaster walls so man that is a lot of hanging of cool stuff.
We must be somehow related. What a wonderful room and video! I too collect Spider-man and Star Wars comic books, baseball art (originals, one original Perez and a few Graig Kreindlers) and Nolan Ryan. One of my favorite comic books is a Batman from 1972 that has the exact date stamp of the day I was born. I too have glass on my tables that cover random cards as well! I went to the 500 home run show and got my poster signed that has been framed (Reggie didn't sign at that show because he broke his wrist and got him later). The wooden displays are exceptional.
Got rid of my cards around 2018 for about 500.the pandemic hits I start getting into it again.i collect mainly junk wax because that was the era I started collecting in.
Thank you for sharing your card room! Very cool showing building the "Hulk". Who had the most fun making all those dove tails?.....must have taken a lot of time. Thanks again. My card room/garage is organized chaos!
Wow o didn’t know you were a comic book collector too. I used to be huge into comics but over the past 4 years I scaled down a lot. If I kept it all I have be around 7200 but I sold traded or gave away 74% of that. Im at 2200 now. Action comics and Archie books are my jam. You got my back into collecting certain baseball players. I have a huge hockey card collection but I collect mostly Wayne Gretzky stuff.
Super impressive collection; the room is really well organized. That’s not easy. Cool to see you getting into collecting complete sets. Let me know if you ever want to collaborate on a set building discussion. Take care!
I see the seizure inducing fan cord is still lurking in the room. And I think you have a retirement job making cabinets for all the RU-vid community. That saw cuts like a hot knife through butter. Your Dad is damn good at what he does. They’d call me stubby if I tried that. Thanks for the tour.
Do you have any concerns that the lights on the Five Star case will face the autographs? Have some on my wall that faded but OK with it because I would rather see it everyday than keep it pristine. Loved the tour. Your room looks great.
I was just thinking yesterday about suggesting a video of card displays, perfect timing. How about a VR from others. Maybe I'll do my first RU-vid video of mine. It's also nice to put a face with a voice for your pop.
@@BaseballCollector that’s crazy thanks for the insight I was curious but didn’t want to ask. I would never fill the beast but one on a smaller scale might interest some people
Mike, the new layout of the card room and new cabinets look great. It was also really the first time I've noticed the cards you display and the artwork are HOF themed. I also never realized you had so many comic books. How is collecting comics similar/different from baseball cards? Do you collect vintage comics or modern too? Easier to find comics or harder? Watching your father do his wood work is fascinating! Does Norman miss the sofa? Thanks for the great video.
Thanks Rick. The comic world is actually quite similar to sports cards. There is grading, different companies making product, parallels (variants). I will find a place for Norman.
