Jim Perry-The Game Show Version of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. God Bless You, May You R.I.P. and Thanks for makin' this episode of Card Sharks the most exciting one Norma Brown will forever be known as The QUEEN of the MONEY CARDS
"NOTHING OR $28,800!!!!" LOWER!!!! Timeless. One of the best game show bonus round wins ever. What made this more remarkable was this was before the change the base card on each level. Norma did the hard way. Way to go!!!
Actually, the 'change the base card on each level' was in effect at this time. You can tell when Norma says "Let's keep the 3' on the second level and when Jim asks her if she wants the Queen before she makes the Big Bet. Still, Norma's run at the Money Cards was nothing short of sensational!
Shit, that's a lot of money NOW. You could buy a decent car with that today. You could buy a house with that money back then (depending on where you lived).
I remember seeing this episode on GSN a few years ago. Granted, Diana played a good game, but the money cards were cruel to her. When she busted with that double ace on the second tier (this was before the "doubles push rule" was implemented), she looked like she wanted to cry. And then Norma comes in and not only takes the championship, but also becomes the first (and only) contestant to make a perfect run with the money cards. Norma Brown brought new definition to the term "gambler".
Yes, especially when she bet everything on a Jack (which I don't think that ANYONE should do, IMO) $3600 on a Jack? IT IS WITH A DEUCE! OH WOW! I hope that Buzzr shows this
@@tnawcwvictoria I have to agree, there. Betting the whole wad on a Jack (normally a VERY tricky card) was definitely a ballsy move. I'd say on that one, Norma was just plain lucky it didn't backfire on her.
@@Thr0binHood Hmm... that's interesting, because the only other person (that I've seen here on RU-vid) who had a perfect run at the money cards was a contestant on one of the pilot episodes.
17:17 Just noticed that Jim Perry messed up here. He turned over the last card (the nine of hearts) before waiting for Norma to say "Lower." Obviously didn't change the outcome, as she can't go higher than an Ace. LOL
There were plans for a weekly "Card Sharks" distributed by Firestone. But it never happened. vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/markgoodson/images/c/c7/CS801.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151013073618 vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/markgoodson/images/c/c3/CS802.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20151013073644 vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/markgoodson/images/4/46/CS20.png/revision/latest?cb=20131015045607 vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/markgoodson/images/2/2b/CSAD1982.png/revision/latest?cb=20131023092533 vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/markgoodson/images/4/4f/CSAD19821.png/revision/latest?cb=20131023092546
So glad they changed the doubles rule the following season to mean no profit or loss in the money cards although the normal rounds still counted it as an incorrect guess.
BUST @ 8:51 = The dreaded double-ace combo results in a *PAINFUL GAME OVER* for poor Diana and with the Ace of Spades, no less! Now remember this; you are NOT to declare this BUST a "technical win" in any way (and Michael Taylor, I'm looking at you!) - On a positive note, there is a BIG MONEY WIN @ 19:36 = Norma Brown became the first (and only) person to sweep the Money Cards boards and no, pilots do not count. Also, NO tax cracks (or other related buzzkill); they spoil the fun of the moment.
