A pair of cardinals built a nest in a holly bush in my back garden. The female now spends most of the day in the bush and the male is never very far away. Cardinals mate for life. I caught him singing this song one evening recently.
Sitting in my garden in the evening in Ottawa, Canada. I heard a lovely bird call and wondered if it was the cardinal I see often. I played this one, and sure enough, that is the same call. BUT, as soon as I played this, the "live" bird in my hood stopped calling for a moment. I now hear him again, but he's farther away. Poor fellow, he must have thought his turf was being challenged.
Pam Daniell please never take this video down, I loooove cardinals and their unique-to-the-individual calls. They all share a few basic calls but then they each have like their own unique one, and aside from the cardinal buddy of mine in my backyard, this one has the best call ever, I love it, it’s so funny/cute!
