This is one of the trickiest concepts to understand. Thanks!

Analogies: make teaching harder, but make learning easier. Guess that's why so few lecturers formulate analogies: because doing so requires more effort than just reading from summaries on powerpoint slides. (I tried using analogies in my first year PBL, unfortunately, to an unreceptive group). Well done to the creators of this video.

Rawdon Waller Absolutely you are spot on! It is harder for the teacher but makes life way better for the students 😁

I understand re-entry circuits now!! This was such an amazing demonstration on how they work, why they work, what they can cause, and why the treatments work. I'll always refer back to this analogy! Thank you so much!!

Keypoints: roads= conducting tissue (action potentials = cars). one road is fast- fast conduction and long refractory. the other road is wet, pothole = slow conduction, fast refractory. two cars run into each other = crash, everything stops. premature beat, splits going up and down, reenters the slow path. normal beat might not travel. Reentry circuits lead to tachycardia. Danger of ventricular fibrilation, if untreated. Treatment: Na+ blocker slows down the velocity. K blocker extends the refractionary period. Cardioverting electrical shock to the heart. Regular SA node beat must take over! could be located one location or the whole heart.

A faster car (faster impulse ) will stir more dust and so it will take more time for dust to settle and unless dust settles down , a car won't be able to make its way through the road (unable to conduct an impulse )
