for my people with legitimately small hands, just practice balancing it on your middle, ring, and pinky finger more than anything. that's what will make it go smoother and quicker once you let your thumb go
@@krono7843 I found you have to keep your pinky finger in the correct posrition . Your little pinky finger stops the cards falling out of your hand. I'm new at this too. When you are holding the cards in the straddle grip you have have index finger on one short edge and your pinky (small finger on the other. Your small finger stops the cards falling out of your hand. Some tips if you do have small hands: 1. make sure that your palm is facing up 2. after cutting the deck in half, secure the upper half with your pinkie 3. try to keep your thumb on the upper half (even only on the bottom couple of cards) for as long as possible
OMG, that thump tip saved me. I was having difficulty with it but I actually did it. Now practice to make it smotely. p.s. I found that tilting you hand a little to your pinky helps from the cards going everywhere. Just a little though.
Incomplete guide: what TF are your pinky and forefinger doing during the cut and restack? Are the cards being pressed against your palm for more control? How do you keep split deck parallel to each other the whole time? When I press the bottom deck up with my forefinger only the top corner raises 1st. And then they become uneven.
Today is the first day I've ever been able to do this cut. Your tip with the thumb helped a lot but also showing how high you are holding the deck was a bigger help. I always said, "my hands are too small" and then I met a guy with smaller hands than me who did insane cardistry so I knew it was just my mental block. Thank you.
I can't seem to get the bottom packet to move no matter how hard I push with the index finger. I push until the cards bow but it doesn't move upward at all. What do I need to adjust to get the bottom packet to move upward?
When the cards land in a deck in the end, it is super messy and they dont land on top of each other straight as I'd want them too. So I can do this cut, but its messy. Are there any angle tricks involved? Thanks a lot Man !
I’ve just uploaded a video on my channel about the Charlier cut and it discusses the easy way to do it in a straddle grip and has a bit at the end talking about a tip to help if you’re struggling.
@@justdancefan-pv6lb It's a matter of practice my friend If 8 years old can do it, if so many asian people with small hands such as me can do it, you can too
Your videos are very helpful 😊, others just names it tutorial and shows off their skills which makes it very confusing when we actually try to perform. Thanks for doing the good work 😀.
Omg I cannot do this. I am 13 hands are small, whenever I let go with my thumb of top pack it completely flips over and I cant get the bottom pack overs without the top pack flipping. Even if I cheat with my right hand, it still doesn’t work. Pls help its frustrating
man i spent like 3 days trying to figure this one out and i still suck at it. i can do it slowly but its very sloppy. annoying part is i tried it once with my right hand, and it felt a little awkward to hold but i can do it consistently and easily otherwise... i guess my pinky just likes to move when i move my index finger on my left hand so the cards just slide everywhere. zzz
to y'all that are saying your hands are too small, i'm a 5"1 15 yo with the worlds smallest hands and i can do it. just practice and use the tips at the end of the vid, trust me
I never thought I'd be able to do a one-hand cut but after 20 mins of trying over and over and rewatching your amazing video, I ended up doing it 5 times in a row :D
As a trans guy with tiny afab hands this comment section is saving my life lmao. The difference between amab small hands and afab small hands is huge and it's legit difficult to even hold a deck in my hands properly.
this was the only tutorial that actually worked for me my brain just confused anything anyone else said as they seemed to overcomplicate it. thanks man!
Thanks for that huge tip about resting the top packet against the bottom. It’s still awkward doing it but it’s working! I genuinely thought I couldn’t do this at all because my hands were too small.
