Justin still has some good fights in him and can give Makhachev problems because of his takedown defence and KO power. Justin was compromised by the nose breaking in the first round (credit to Max for the game plan. You could see his team had isolated that Justin likes to duck low when advancing forward. Max was countering with uppercuts and spinning kicks) Max would have a tough time against the grapplers of 155 so it’s best for him to move down. Holloway should stay at 155lbs. The cut to fight Topuria would be too much, potentially hurting his chin and he’s shown he has the power to stay with the 155ers anyway.

From the first round on I was saying max looks the same he did against kattar. He had that same wide eyed look like he was just in a different level and couldn’t be stopped. Seeing max in that zone is one of the greatest things ever to watch in the ufc.

Some of you need to come across certain fighters and keep that same energy and see how it goes. Every time I hear about you I'm reminded about Mike Tyson's quote about people on social media.

Justin Gaethje is about as good quality of a win as Max could’ve gotten. For him to do it in that way too, dominating him like no one has ever done… I don’t see why you’d change anything at all. I’d stay at the same weight, same body comp, same everything. No reason to go back to cutting weight heavily unless you have to. People forget that Max actually had the be pulled off a card back in the day because the commission and the ufc thought he looked too bad while weight cutting.

While we should all remember this fight for how awesome it was, breaking the nose was lucky. Add on the two eye pokes. If those hadn’t happened then this fight would’ve been a lot closer. People are going to think Max is better at 155 than he is.

TBH I think Max calls out Volk to avenge his loss while scouting opportunities at 155. Avenging his loss can move him up top 15

I knew if he could take or avoid the leg kicks (basically did 50/50) then he would be skillful enough to avoid Gaethjes shots with his movement. What was interesting to me was that instead of taking a lot of distance in his exits, he cut really short angles to make Gaethje miss and counter. That’s what you should do ideally, but to do that for an entire fight takes a ton of discipline and a supreme understanding of distance control
