I appreciate the fairly short review. Tired of seeing 1hr reviews when a fairly simple plane like this can be covered in 10 minutes, as demonstrated here.
Thank you. My reviews are rare, but I do my best to make them quick and to the point in 8-10 minutes showing the highlights versus a full flight with checklists and lots of rambling.
@@thecorporatepilotdad 8-10 minutes was the Golden age of RU-vid. Now, most channels are releasing documentary length videos on a topic that could be cover in like 5 mins... There are some channels that I watch do publish documentary-length vidéos, but those channels are often educational ones thay have to explain concepts to people outside of the industry that the creator is in.
@@N0616JCProductionsI agree, I used to want longer videos when things started to get shorter and shorter, but recently there's been a rise in hour long plus essay videos and you realize that they're just 15 minute videos edited together. Tempo is something that youtube creators still struggle with and listening to someone explain stuff really quickly for an hour or more in duration is just exhausting. You really have to be a genuine professional to have the experience to deliver educational material in an engaging way for long durations
Hi! On the RG II version /non turbo/ , unfortunately, I couldn't find any information on how much the trhottle can be increased to the maximum? 75% maximum thorottle position? Who knows what about this? and... what is the EGT maximum? Of course the questions are about the real airplane and not the one in the game! Please reply me! :)
You should consider sitting down with a CFI and go over section 2 of the AFM. If you already did that, get a different instructor that is more familiar with the 182.
Hmm i think ill let this caranado plane go back in the oven for awhile...their planes have become disappointing more it seems. Maybe its just me. Great review!!
At least it doesn't sound like a dying sewing machine like the Turbo 182 from them. I cannot even fly that one for the horrible engine sounds in the VC.
Now when I fly the Carenado Turbo 182 I'm just going to think dying sewing machine and it will never be flown again. The Carenado Seminole sounds like two dying sewing machines.
You and me both. There are things I don't like about them (sounds for example), but I can't stop flying the Carenado airplanes. I have their Mooney, T182, Waco, 182RG, and the Seminole. I can't delete any of them and they are all still flown from time to time even though they will never be perfect.
@@mikecoffee100 I am interested in the 207 but there doesn’t seem to be many differences over the 182RG. Both are made by Carenado but the 207 has a turbo. If it was a P210 I’d have it yesterday.
Great video. I used to love Carenado aircraft. Remember when we could keep a copy of our aircraft in our own possession? Is that even possible if we purchase through the MSFS store?
The Carenado 182T has a serious cockpit view issue where if you raise up to be able to see out the front, you cannot turn your head left/right and see out the side windows. Does this aircraft also have that issue? I use TrackIR for head movement recognition and like when you're in the actual aircraft it is essential that you can simply turn your head left/right without having to droop way down to be able to see out the side windows (traffic, pattern, etc.). Using "buttons" to change views is a thing of the past for me. In real life, there's no issue looking right and left. So I was really surprised with this issue in the modeled 182T.
graphics, textures carenado is the best! sounds, buttons, fuses, they break if you don't use them correctly are a total embarrassment. pipper arrow pa28 from justflight is amazing. i hope carenado will take an example from them. i never buy again from carenado only for their graphics they need to make it more real.
Carenado has followed the same rule book for every airplane. Looks great but lacks realism. They don’t seem to change from airplane to airplane. Just Flight does have an amazing product with the Arrow.
lovely.... nice and concise. I have taken up flight simulation again after some years and invested in a medium to high end PC. I have never really enjoyed the stock aircraft on offer with MSFS and although better, MSFS 2020 still dissapoints. I bought the Carenado 182 RG II to enjoy a slightly higher level of aircraft reality. I was wondering what the horn was for until I found myself tilted over in a belly landing yesterday....then I figured it out! Great
Hello and great video ! Yesterday I installed this airplane but NAV is not working when I press it there is not light that says NAV ,my GPS is selected GPS and not LOC .,I have the CT182T and NAV is working normal.,I just deleted my cache and reinstall the C182 RG II and still NAV not working.,I'm not sure if is because the last update or something is insterfering.,Here on your video when you click NAV the light turns on and when I press it nothing happens.,please help and thanks !
To be honest, I have had a few issues with the AP flying the route with the default Garmin. Things work much better with the TDS GTNXi add-on. I suggest reporting your issue to Carenado. Hopefully they issue a fix. Updates seem to mess with at least one add-on aircraft every time. You can try to turn the avionics off and back on. Sometimes that does work, but not always (in MSFS).
Nice short review, try to take-off in max xwind…… it will blow you off the RWY on initial upcoming take-off run speed…..until they update it, it will stay in my hanger😅
I did a lot of testing the last days because I expected an issue with my settings or hardware! It is not possible to make a side slip or some cross wind landings. Than I contacted Carenado - made some fotos and videos. Lot of work! Than they testet and validated that it’s there issue …
All airplanes will have a nose down pitching moment if the brakes are pressed hard enough. Digital airplanes and real ones, especially tail draggers :) It's a fun airplane. There needs to be a turbo version for even more speed.
One thing that I hate on this model: It's very hard to see out the side windows, they are very low. In the real aircraft you would just move your head a bit to do so, but in the sim with the screen in front of me, I can't. This is the reason that I prefer low wing aircraft with canopies for good vision.
@@PeterNGloor you are 100% correct and that is something I missed in the review. I did notice it afterwards and found the side views to be a bit off. It’s still a great airplane and one of my favorite GA add-on aircraft. Too bad there isn’t a turbo 182 RG version.
That vent pulls out to give the wasp relief and a place to go compared to when it is closed. Yep the screen inside was compromised. Yep I have that tee shirt Nice review. 🤯🤯🤯🛫
Or the vents fall out and become a pain to put back in while in flight. I remember there were two little white tabs/plastic ball bearings that had to be pressed simultaneously to get them back into place.
I love how you found some minor errors which I'm sure they'll fix with an update. I enjoy the Carenado planes. This is the first plane I purchased at full price. I usually wait until they are discounted. The autopilot works well with the GTN 750 premium and it's nice that we get a steam gauged plane here as the other 182 has the G1000.
The steam gauge panel and the classic 182 RG itself is what attracted me to buy this airplane. Steam gauges are simple. All the needed info is right in front of the pilot and there isn't too much information overload. Steam gauge airplanes are quickly becoming a thing of the past.
@@Rikus1978 the default GNS 430/530 has DME on it. Not every airplane has DME and it’s not required IRL until FL240. A stand alone DME on this airplane would be nice.
@@thecorporatepilotdad Sure, for those like me that prefer gauges for pure flight vor to vor is a must, because not always you can do pure VFR in the sim.
The top of the white arc is VFE or the speed at which full flaps can be deployed. There should be a placard that gives you the speeds for the other notches. You can actually see the speeds on the flap control. It shows that first notch can go in at 140 knots and the 2nd and 3rd at 95 knots.
Right, which is why I stated the first notch (10 deg) can be selected at 140. There is a placard with the speeds. Not all airplanes have white arcs and not all airplanes have flap speeds on a placard and must be committed to memory.
@@TheDornado Nope, not at all. That was me alluding to the placard stating the flaps can be selected to 10 degrees up to 140. Many Cessna single engine airplanes are that way. I have seen videos covering MSFS airplanes where creators state flaps can't be added until inside the white arc even though the placard says otherwise. That's the former CFI in me trying to correct errors.
The aircraft is also very responsive making it feel very light. 182 control forces IRL are significantly heavier than a 172. I wanted to touch on this but it’s MSFS, people have different control setups, and equating what I feel is difficult to do in a home simulator.
@@thecorporatepilotdad I really hope Carenado consider making some high fidelity planes one day because the modeling and textures are just outstanding! Maybe some community mods too...
First, congratulations on getting your instrument ticket. Be sure to use it as much as you can. If you're flying from A to B, file an IFR flight plan and get used to the IFR environment and stay proficient by requesting approaches when you can, even if it's VFR. There are no plans for any commercial videos currently. Maybe in the future, but summertime is a slow time for video creation. I saw you became a channel member, and it is appreciated.
At high power settings at slow airspeed where the engine will be hot with little airflow (climb out), open them. In cruise and descent close the cowl flaps some/all to keep the engine warm. Cowl flaps help adjust cylinder head temperature to maintain a certain temperature range.
Shoot, I forgot to mention that. That will teach me to take better notes. There is no DME but if the default GNS 530 is used, there is DME below the NAV frequency in the bottom left corner. As far as standalone DME, nope, it's missing but would have been nice to have. DME is not always standard equipment. I have flown many airplanes without DME.
I flew DC-9’s that the DME displayed only the distance from the station. No Ground Speed you had to compute it your self. Life is so much easier today flying!😀😀🛫
@@MrBlueGameReal571 I would be about two weeks out on making a video like that. Maybe I can help here. Where are you flying from and going to? You need to find the nearest VOR then select HIGH IFR on vfrcharts.com From that VOR, find the next VOR in the direction you're going and look at the J Route Number such at JOT J146 GIJ J554 CRL. JOT is south of Chicago and that route goes to the east towards Detroit. Jet routes start at 18,000' and go up to 45,000' Here is a free FAA publication in PDF form. @@thecorporatepilotdad hard to really put my finger on it. Best I can say that it feels like it slides around. And landing is awkward. Just feels weird to fly. I think it is most noticeable at low speeds where the plane just doesn’t have any weight. The attention to detail for the cabin is very good, though, so I am hoping that they take another pass at the flight model with an update.
@@gibememoni I fly small light aircraft, and I can tell you that they don’t fly like that Carenado. Heck, I fly other Cessnas in MSFS, and they don’t feel bad like this one does, so I know it’s not the sim or my peripherals either. It’s this specific model.
@@thecorporatepilotdad Subscribed from Australia. Very good videos! I look forward to following a more professional channel that also covers general aviation as well as medium and heavy jets. Unfortunately I have chosen Series X console as I am not interested in the Windows world or using 1,000 watts of power in a box that requires half a dozen fans.
Nice review of a nice little aircraft. Two things, is there a way to get the altimeter settings in hp rather than inches? And I’d like to see a DME of some sort added.
I do not know of a way to set hectopascals on the altimeter. Hopefully that can be fixed in an update. Just Flight added altimeters in Hg and hPa on some of their GA aircraft. DME would be a great addition. Maybe they left it out due to the fact that the TDS and PMS GTN units being added. If a very capable GPS is available, DME wouldn't be needed, but like you, I still want a stand-alone old school DME.
@@stephenmckinnell7791 I have CE500, CE56XL (flew an xls+), Astra Jet, and G200 type ratings. Currently flying the G200 and have been flying it for the last 12 years.
I guess your head is stuck in the sand ! There are always reviews on new airplanes that come out for sims... I love this channel as the creator is a Real World Pilot, and for those who are using the sim for practice and keep up in their IRL flying. This review is great to determine if you want to buy the airplane. Also, he can review Gulfstream or cj4, but 99% will never fly them IRL, so calm down!
Your video is very good. Excellent product description. everything is 100% excellent information. I only have one doubt. I find it very hard to believe. To be honest I don't believe one bit of the part where you say. That nobody paid you for your review. Fake. This video is from Carenado. If this video is not produced and edited by Carenado. So I just have to say. That you are a person who has nothing to do in your daily life. The video is masterful a piece of art. Woooooa body. Stop killing time on the SIM and dedicate yourself to video editing. You have too much talent.
Thank you for the kind words about my editing skills. Carenado did not pay me. I contacted Carenado 3 years ago to help test airplanes before release and they didn’t reply. That is the only correspondence I have had with them. I would never take payment from a dev to review an airplane because that’s ethically wrong. The airplane was purchased in the Marketplace for $21.34 with tax.
@@thecorporatepilotdad Dude, we have to flight together on share cockpit. Let me know. I will be on the right seat. As Instructor. Not as copilot .LOL Seriously. lets try do that.
