Do a backyard experiment: Put a small Lithium battery (AA) into a bucket of ocean water, let it sit, record the progress to degradation. Send contaminated water to a lab each phase of the experiment. 8th grade kid could do it as a science project. Easy-peasy

Any time something like this happens, somebody has to pay for it. In this case, it will be multiple insurance companies. Do you have any clues on how insurance companies might make up for losses?

There were VW ID.4's and Porsche Taycans on board they have lithium batteries/ EVs. Some reports are saying it might have been the EV's batteries caught on fire but they've been shipping them for awhile now an investigation has to be done for sure.

I kinda feel the same way as Sorbeck. Twenty-two crew members on-board, and all they had to do was monitor the interior of the ship, make sure all was good. Pretty sure they had fire extinguishers. Probably transporting more than cars. Now, all their butts are safe, but the cars, some being service member’s vehicles, are at the bottom of the ocean, along with the crew’s secrets.

I'm a car guy 100% but worrying about some rich guy not getting his 3rd or 4th Porsche is nuts. If it sinks, it's that much more gas, oil, grease, plastic, batteries, diesel, and rubber for our food to ingest and pass to us. We should start a go find me page for everyone that has been traumatized by not getting their toy, instead of coming up with ways to stop things like this from happening before it gets to this point. Also melting cars DO release toxic pollution.

My last job had me traveling quarterly from Austin to Atlanta for Business. Back in 2019 I was at my hotel room when with the News on and I saw a Ship that looked JUST LIKE this one capsized off the Georgia coast. I think it had a couple thousand cars on. So after the business trip was over I had flown to Miami for a few days and then to Boston for the remainder before I flew back home that Sunday evening. Well we departed from Miami and flew by the capsized ship and it was massive!! All but four escaped and they had to cut into the ship to rescue the remaining crew members. I’m glad everybody was able to get off this ship. 🙏🏾

Ughhh so sad to think of tens of millions of dollars worth of art just destroyed. Imagine how much plastic, rubber, aluminum and carbon fibre was just wasted. Hopefully they can tow that ship to the port and at least some of the cars weren’t touched by the fire and are ready to go to their owners.

How about the fact that anyone that can afford one of those cars most definitely is not going to be suffering all that much. And if you're crying over a car that you have to wait an extra six months for, then I wish I had your life. The Lithium Ion Batteries in the Electric cars may have caused the fire. I us lithium Ion Batteries in my Electric RC model aircraft and know they are in danger of causing a fire that is hard to put out, I keep them in fire proof bags for that reason when in storage and when charging.

All luxury cars, not just EVs, now have 24 volt Lithium Ion batteries to provide enough power to the starter so the motor can turn off and on at a stop without idling to reduce smog and save gas.

Great replayed News and footage. wowow.... I do believe so wait that long to have these luxurious handmade cars. And can tell from those prestigious car companies' VERY IMPRESSIVE comment to the public press as well as their swift notification to their customers. The car cargo ship wasn't new to me, but for this incident was really blowing my mind and the very first time in the history. Will keep an eye on this eye catching following up news.

Based on the image at 1:39 and the pyro analysis.... the conclusion is VERY VERY BAD and estimated 85% of the internal merchandises are all WRECKED. And interesting things that the origin of fire rather from the tail but the 3/4 section from the head and the bottom 2/4 starting point.... This would be MUCH MORE INTERESTING TO DIG UP.... Keep all document and make the Discovery film. Very very interesting to know what on earth DOES the FIRE COME FROM????
