it’s a good thing your van didn’t have major problems . Imagine on your first delivery your van breaks down and the obd2 didn’t give an possible readings of failure .Usually old vans have manifold, distributors , ac, firing mishaps, rust, etc… ppl need to understand to expect that finding a van below 120k miles isn’t typical specially clear of problems .
@@PermanentHigh i don’t remember if the video talked about it but cargo vans usually are labeled as commercial business use. thst becomes much much much more expensive. prudential insurance covered my van BUT through a third party Not prudentisl. i’m pretty sure i’m paying the 2 middle men. i had no choice. i couldn’t find a company to cover me within 2 weeks. they would not tell me the 3rd party for obvious reasons. i’ll get back to you and look for my insurance slip and get the name. there is a caveat , if i’m in a serious accident and it’s deemed i was using the van as a source of income, i risk not getting covered.

taxes are killer too. you need to pay at least quarterly. or around 40% on your 1099. better to pay more until you get used to paying. You would hate to get hit with bill tax bill at the end of the year.

Most of the cargo van owners I’ve come across keep so many secrets Lol!
Sign up with a courier company and you’ll get contracts with them and in time you’ll make connections. Make business cards and pass them out sometimes you have bless shippers.
It’s no secret. It’s just lack of info out there. The way I find contracts online is through indeed. You can also use any other job searching app. When searching, use key words related to cargo van. Ex: “Cargo Van Courier” “Independent contractor cargo van” “Owner operator cargo van” Depending on the demand in your area something should come up and that’s when you look at the requirements such as vehicle year and insurance level required. Yes! Certain companies/shippers require A certain year van while others don’t have a limit and they’ll just inspect your van to make sure it’s safe and operating 100% regardless of the year. & they won’t hit you up, you gotta hit them up & apply (offer your services)

I love your videos, and I love the business model here. I don’t love the idea of unloading a lot of boxes all the time. Can you do strictly pallet deliveries? I’ve seen some videos on that. Plus I’ve seen your video working for empire national. I think that’s the route I’m going. I’m just curious if I can do pallet loads, even if that means driving farther
Of course you can do pallets. Usually most loads are palletized. I’m my case, I can’t due to the type of product. All of our stops are minutes away and no customer orders a pallets worth of merchandise.
I’m sure you get asked that all the time. Getting gigs are the main part really. I’m just thinking big pallet loads driving even 5 hours one way has to be a good niche. There has to been that work needed out there. I don’t know, I also like the idea of driving locally if there’s plenty of work. I just don’t know how to book it.
You don’t need an LLC to start a cargo van business. All you need is the Van, commercial insurance & a DOT#( Also an MC # if your going out of state) then you can start working. However, there are many benefits to having an LLC.
I don’t even have a DOT # & I’m operating just fine. LLCs are required upon applying to try and obtain contracts, OTR and other expediting jobs as a contractor. Do you own a business?
