I prefer the older models. I have one of those. They don't have that lower back flap (which I don't like), the lower back was even, and adjustable and the sleeves were normal length. Since you are a slimmer guy, you should try the Carhartt WIP Detroit Jacket models, especially the winter version. They are closer in design to the older models, but were made originally to fit the slimmer folks in Europe, so they don't fit bigger folks. My first Detroit jacket, 23 years ago, was one of those but I outgrew it after 15 years. Now I wear the regular mainline Carhartt workwear stuff.
Fair enough although I think the workwear version is better in quality and utility considering it has an attachable hoodie while the WIP OG doesn’t. In terms of fit and sizing I think they are both the same, the only difference is the longer back tail on the workwear (classic) version. But it can just be cropped by a tailor If you wanted
@@Itspako8 Carhartt WIP OG Detroit Jacket (Winter) is a higher quality jacket. It has a significantly thicker diamond-quilted lining and is a much warmer jacket. Though they have a version with the regular blanket lining as well. I've owned both the WIP OG models and workwear models, so I know. If I could still fit in a WIP OG Winter version, I'd be wearing that instead. Had one for 15 years. Never let me down. Never felt cold while wearing it. The workwear version doesn't handle really cold weather well. It's more for milder weather. The sizing is not the same either. The WIP line was designed for the European market (where people are slimmer) as streetwear. So the sizing is much smaller. I can't fit in a Carhartt WIP Detroit Jacket XXL. Trust me, I've tried! Can't even get it over my shoulders. My current Carhartt Workwear Detroit Jacket XXL fits just fine.
@@EndeavorabIe Well, then you may be out of luck because they may be phasing those out. Guess folks didn't like the design change after all. It didn't last too long either. Just a few years. The newer Carhartt Detroict Jacket workwear models they introduced recently don't have the flap. Though the models with the flap are still currently available. Otherwise, you'll just have to check for another model that has it.
I just ordered one today, and now I am concerned about the length of the sleeves. I'll figure something out I guess. I'm 5'll and chose an XL. I'll probably make a video to show how it matches up. Thanks for making this video, Anthony!
Okay, so you are 5’8. Bro, that’s NOT a body height and size for an L. If you were 3-5” taller. Then yes, L would do you right aka the sleeves. But this is a “Detroit” style aka: letterman jacket cut. So the sleeves match the L sizing for a taller man. Whilst also keeping a short length. The sizing is on you old son!
I ordered one of these and immediately returned it. Low quality, terrible fit, and the sleeves are ridiculously long even on the medium. Sadly, Carhartt do not make quality clothes anymore. WIP would be a better alternative, but is so overpriced.
Hey man, would you have preferred a Med since the sleeves on the L are a bit too much? Just wondering if the Med and Large are (sleeves) differ that much. Thanks
If you have the same body in measurements you could definitely size down to an M or even an S. In my opinion the size L looks a bit too oversized so yeah If you prefer a more fitted look go with the M. In any case, you could just go to a tailor and shorten the sleeves easy peasy
