Dominican here. So proud of the Haitian sister for winning!! I’ve never had Haitian rice and beans but reading her recipe, we make it the same way except we add tomato paste/sauce and don’t add scotch bonnet. So I KNOW that rice was bomb. Gonna definitely try her recipe out tho. 🙌🏼

RIght?! Although to be fair, he didn't know it was Haitian rice. Also, Jamaicans in general feel like they way they cook is the ONLY way one should cook and that their food is the ONLY food worth eating. I can talk because I'm part-Jamaican (and Haitian)so I've seen plenty of them not even bother to taste the food, but turn their noses up at stuff because it wasn't Jamaican.

Ayyyye. I loved this lol Trini here. We’re all about rice and peas, but like one of the lady’s said mama always said eat what’s put in front of you. Everybody’s looked good honestly Big ups and Prayers for our family in Haiti!!! A lot of people (the fella in this vid) think Jamaica put the Caribbean on the map …… well he must’ve grown up watching too much tv and wishing he was from Flatbush lol Haiti history is important for the world to know!

Just a heads up, it's Caribbean, no s needed. Caribbean is a plural collective noun referring to the region, instead it should be Caribbean people :) otherwise love the video! Time to get my mom to make rice and peas soon!

@@DCM779 idk, I'm from nyc but I've been to Florida 2 times before but only to Orlando. I might be going to Miami this winter. However, I think there's some Boricuas in Fort Lauderdale because one of my cousins moved there with her boyfriend so I think it would be a great place to find some Puerto Rican influence.
