This is my neck of the woods. ☺️ The Wright Brothers are buried in Dayton, and I take my son up to visit and pay our respects often. Also, visit the Wright Patt Air Force Museum, it's free and it's enormous!
Hey Jacob while in Dayton you should visit the National Air Force and Space Museum. It is a museum that is 4 aircraft hangers full of planes and other war artifacts.
So glad you are visiting us here in Ohio! If you happen to be in Cincinnati, stop by the American Sign Museum- it's really cool- and then stop ans get some original Cincinnati chili!!!!
I want to visit the Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio. It would be great to see great artifacts there and go on the Carousel. Have a great day Jake!
Hey Jacob cool to see you in my home state enjoying what we have to offer. I love carillon park as it reminds me of greenfield village in Michigan. I grew up going to greenfield village and miss it tremendously. I live just south of Carillon park behind kings island. If you want to film anything together I’m always free. I really enjoyed meeting you that one year at mothman festival.
Awesome!! I live about 30 minutes from here. We love the Carillon. The bell tower gets decorated with lights for Christmas. We actually did a video of that last year. Great vlog Jacob!
Carousels, especially historical ones, are definitely in my list of top favorite things. This one is really unique. I love it. I’d ride in the old timey cash register for sure. I imagine Jacob has been to Greenfield Village in MI? They have a beautiful carousel, train, ferry boat, and vintage vehicle rides. There’s a Wright Brothers exhibit too.
You were one of the first channels I started following when RU-vid and I started dating... Thanks for sharing your adventures... I have so enjoyed tagging along... :o)
I'm certain you've been corrected, but Dayton is not Daytona. We don't have beaches and palm trees.😄 I met Mrs. Kettering years ago at a Ladies Luncheon. Charming lady. The carousel is full of trademark names that started in Dayton and some are still in business.
Jacob the elevator on a plane helps the plane go up and down. You will see it normally below the Tail section. Then again some planes have what's called a rudder-vator on the tail, and those are usually very large aircraft. Great vid as always Jacob.
Loved the old cash registers and the carousel with the chocolate box shaped seat! 🍫✨🎠 Loved the Saint Bernard animatronic dog too. Thanks Jacob and best wishes and hugs ☀️
I stopped in Dayton a couple of months ago, only because I was driving on the way home and needed a place to sleep. As I was taking my time, the next morning I decided to see something in the city. I had been to the Air Force Museum last year, and I thought about going again, but doing a little search online convinced me to check out Carillon Park. I was not disappointed! What a GREAT museum complex!
This is where I was born; Dayton, Miami Valley Hospital. Always have loved this park! Seen it grow through the years. Beautiful place at Christmas too!
My Mom took me to that park and that carousel when I was very little, she used to tell me about it all the time bc She grew up across the street from the Original Park, really cool to see this. My great Aunt played in the first woman's baseball team and my great Grandma was the first woman to play the Organ in the silent movies. Dayton has a ton of History.
My parents have a very old NCR cash register looks like the ones on display. The man who invented Teflon is from Ohio. 40 mins from Dayton, in my hometown.
In 2011 I was able to visit a factory tour of the company that made the carousel, Carousel Works in Mansfield, OH. Seeing this video I recognized a few of the figures and I looked back through my photos and I realized some of them were the ones being worked on while I was there. The Scipio Dog, potato chip bag and Iams bag ones were partially completed at the time, as was the cash register chariot. It was an awesome and fascinating tour and they created new carousels as well as restored old ones. Unfortunately it looks like the company filed for bankruptcy last year, I always hoped I could return to see it again.
What a great historical site. I could spend an entire day there. The carousel was amazing. The animatronics where so realistic. And the old cash registers brought back fond memories of my childhood when my Mom worked at Read’s drugstore. Safe travels my friend.
I want to go there lol. That looks fun! And I love a good carousel. I like the St. Bernard dog they had there. Well, thanks for sharing! Have a great day!
The carousel has all the things that were invented, manufactured or created in Dayton…or some that are in the collections such as the locomotives. It a lovely park and I’m a proud Daytonian who loves our past.
Born and raised in Dayton. Awesome to see you finally visit Carillon Park. Lots of cool history there. Tons of other history in Dayton. The Air Force museum is gigantic and amazing. The Wright Brothers are buried in a pretty fancy ornate cemetery not too far from Carillon Park if your into cemeteries. Lots of cool stuff in Dayton. I know there’s more in Dayton I’m not thinking of currently. Just south is Cincinnati has a lot to offer too. I know you have visited there . Welcome to Dayton and Safe travels!
Looks like an interesting park. I live in the Detroit area and Dayton is not too far. The Wright Museum reminds me of Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan.
what a wonderful place . So much to see there and so many interesting inventions. Those old cash registers are beautiful . Great video. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
From this great city. Grew up munching on Mikesells potato chips. Cool to see that included on the carousel. Took many field trips while in school to this place. Esther Price candy was bought for special occasions mainly. Can anyone tell me if that giant pool was the NCR pool?
Would have been nice to meet you. Love your channel. I'm glad you enjoyed your time here in my home town area. Good choice to visit here Did you see our bald eagles and the new arrivals
Yay you finally went here did you try the brewery also how's the 71/2 inch gauge trains going I'm going to be getting involved with that club as a steam locomotive part builder
The most important thing that made the plane fly was the small powerful lightweight engine. They painted it black so thier competition at the time thought it was cast iron but it was actually aluminum like modern engines
I think all of the unique things on the carousel have ties to Dayton, I know IAMS has a foot in Dayton and that was an Ester Price chocolate box, also from Dayton
That rubicon locomotive is a fireless steam locomotive it used hot steam from the cash register company it's like a giant thermos I have plans to build one as 7 1/2 inch gauge model but use scuba air instead of stored steam
Go to layman's hardware store in sugarcreek Ohio as well as the age of steam roundhouse in sugar Creek they also have a amazing museum there called Alpine hills museum
i think it was townsends that did a video on the brewery last year. marion's has awesome pizza, very locally famous. next time you come around, let me know and i'll take you to frankenstein's tower and for a pizza. i'll show you where the last gypsy king of dayton is interred while you eat some esther price, probably the best candy you'll ever eat. mike sells is dayton, sometimes you can buy mike sells potato chips dipped in esther price chocolate. i personally hate it, but some folk love it. dayton has built tons and tons of stuff, known for a lot of things, and home of countless inventors. however, we obviously didn't invent animatronics. fun fact, not far from dayton was the first time a bar code was ever scanned for retail. dayton, aside from once being a manufacturing and tool and die hub, dayton had a lot of printers. what made dayton so attractive was I-75 intersects with I-70 close by, so these crossroads made transportation very accommodating. i don't know if anyone actually knows why dayton is nicknamed 'the gem city,' but one theory is that it's a jewel in the crown of 'the queen city,' cincinnati's nickname (cincy is south of dayton).
