Hello everyone! My good friend Frank Munoz, sent me this extremely RARE video clip that he found here on RU-vid of the amazing Carl Anderson in Spain performing the title song from "Jesus Christ Superstar", not long after the film was released there. We now have this audio visual memory of Carl (appearing on a 1974 variety show that had Julio Iglesias as its host) for all of us to enjoy! We miss you Carl. - Ted.

I have ALWAYS and will ALWAYS love you, Carl Anderson, Yvonne Elliman, Barry Dennan, etc. My Mommy has this joke about listening to this several times a day when pregnant with me that I came out singing it. LOL. Seriously, 1973 was THE BEST. I was born 3 years later but the agony of nostalgia will always include Jesus Christ Superstar. Good memories of me and my Parents singing along. I miss you Daddy. I miss you too Mr. Carl. Keep up the good work Mr. Neeley. You are THE BEST EVER!!! ❤️

Wow! Once again, its Easter time & I've spent another annual good week playing & watching JC Superstar 🤩. EVERY YEAR I find myself re-energized for the upcoming year as I go through every emotion in the gamut FEELING this play: from happiness (dancing & twerking all over the house to the music & as I'm 52yrs old now, w/severe Fibromayalgia, you can imagine, its prolly NOT a pretty sight .... even God is prolly laughing & thinking "really? I'M GOOD! Cant u just sing it to urself like most folks do?" LOL) .... to reflection, & then I'm (literally) sobbing w/tears streaming down my face by the time Ted does the MOST SOUL inspiring 'Prayer at Gethsemane' 🙏😭. This play really inspires true emotion & the spritual Grace of possibly feeling as the characters may have? Weird that despite knowing every single word, line, bar & note of this play, I STILL have to fast fwd thru the 39 lashes? My heart just CAN'T take it 😖😟 I came here just now bcuz I just ADORE Mr Anderson's voice & HIS 'Judas'. Puts me in a different 'place'. Was SO saddened when he left us. Altho now, as I watch JC & come to RU-vid 2C his varied performances, there is a sense of profound appreciation for who/how he was - that I kinda FEEL is being received ? I am instantly aware, humbled, & eternally grateful for the experience. I too, grew up listening to JC, having had a sister 6yrs older than I born in 1959 & I in 65 & having been (unfortunately) the product of 12yrs of Catholic School. My older sis, Sandy had THE BIGGEST crush on you, Mr Neeley, lol Well, in the mid 90's, I saw the cast perform JC at the Kravitz Center in WPB, FL every night the entire run of nights it was performed. I waited out back on afternoon #1 & was TRULY BLESSED to have met met with you, Mr Anderson, and all the cast & crew of JC, take pics with & of course, everyone was SO gracious to autograph my program. I still have to this day, framed 😊 I dunno if you remember me (one of likely millions of adoring fans?) but I tried to contact you thru email via your management company in the years that followed, and somehow, was ALWAYS notified of two tickets to the performance being set aside for me. Once again in WPB & another time, at the King Center in Melbourne, FL. The Melbourne show was a MAGICAL time that meant more to me than you - likely anybody - could possibly fathom. Why? Bcuz, I took my big sis, Sandy with me & we met you & the cast after the show, pics & the whole nine yards. For a couple gals from a VERY less than cultural geographical locale, seeing the play here was MONUMENTAL ..... but AFTER the show, the kindness, warmth & abundant generosity of both yourself & Mr Anderson in particular was .... how to accurately express (?) ..... life altering! Seriously! Afterwards, in the weeks, months & yrs that followed, my sister was THEN able to identify & totally agreed w/me that you, Mr Neely, embodied the kind of spirit & character that many like us envision Christ to have been 😍. And it MOVED us ..... a lot! Actually inspired us 2b better versions of ourselves thru a couple "fan" meetings WAYYYY more than the (hypocritical) Catholic education ever did .... or could, lol. I've FOREVER SINCE been a distant admirer of you & Mr Anderson in particular. The excitement of the play & afterwards coming back to visit my sister & I EVERY TIME we spoke of it! You would never believe the positive spirit & energy given to us from your generous giving of those tickets. Altho prior to that Melbourne King Center event we had ALWAYS found time to get together right b4 or on Easter Sunday to watch JC together & sing & tease each other how was a good thing neither of us wanted a singing career, lol - AFTERWARDS the event - the annual tradition was abundantly more infused w/our energy from Spirit 👭🏾👍 as we would chatter on reliving that day ☺ So, as I just watched JC again (Thank God I purchased on Amazon 2yrs ago & can pull up & watch easily whenever I need a lil inspiration/strength) for the THIRD TIME TODAY, lmao, it is NOW a bittersweet joy: my sister died 5yrs ago as a result of a hospital error & so I no longer have her company during my annual JC traditional watch & enjoyment 😢. & yeah, it REALLY REALLY does hurt my very heart as I miss her SO terribly 😭 Still, if you should ever run across this comment, I'd like to verbally give you (another, lol) GREAT BIG HUG from my sister & I for the magical experience you gave to two sisters on that day so long ago & the host of giddy, loving recounts of the experience that followed in the YEARS afterwards. What you did was nothing short of a miracle in terms of giving another joy. We appreciated & I still do. I remember your gentle kindness, how you took my hands in yours when you greeted us and the sincere spirit that existed ..... I remember understanding (perhaps for the 1st time in MY life up to that point, in my mid 30's), the sincere love a man COULD HAVE for his spouse & family in hearing how BEAUTIFULLY you spoke of your wife & children. It was EVIDENT that there was genuine love & adoration for your loved ones in whom you drew immense strength. And THAT even, gave me a sense of renewed HOPE that I too, just MIGHT find someone to love me someday .... ? Boy, and did I (& sis) really NEED that! [we'd been raised in a fairly physical & emotionally abusive family] Ah well, such wasn't 2b in my (or my sis's) cards .... the whole dynamic of being "damaged" hard to impossible to FIND healing from [despite sincere forgiveness of situations & people unable to give what they didn't HAVE to give n all?] The sun still comes up every morning tho & LIFE goes on ..... & thankfully, blessed be all, that the existence of THE GOOD, positive, the soul uplifting parts of life CAN be recognized, appreciated & rejoiced in. Oh hey! That in our journeys, we can TRY to FOCUS on the blessings, NOT the stressings in our endevours 2b the BEST versions of ourselves possible ..... & maybe that is best accomplished by finding whatever spirit/energy that promotes our ability to LOVE OURSELVES & our fellow man/woman along whichever path(s) we choose? Apologies for this lengthy comment Mr. Neeley 🙄. Maybe all I wanted to express 2U was "Thank you for planting a few flowers" along MY path ? God Bless Mr Anderson [whom also planted MANY a flower], you & yours .... and ALL of us whom are still on our journey 🙏✌

TwelveCastles He was an amazing spirit which resonated in his talent! I dunno if that spirit is one which was fostered/nurtured within ur family dynamic, but IF it was, you are indeed blessed 🙏. Mr Anderson was/is a profoundly positive energy whom gave me personally, a 'nobody' so to speak, SUCH an incredible soul experience after a couple shows wherein I had only brief encounters w/his as a 'fan'. Just watched JC again for the THIRD time today & altho his voice had always moved me, looking back to the two events of meeting him in person & his abundant generosity of human warmth & spirit, knowing he is no longer here with us, brings me to tears now as I watch him &/or hear his voice. I will forever be reminded of both he & Mr Neeley and the effect on MY SPIRIT they had ..... inspirations for being the best version of MYSELF I can be. Bless his heart and bless you, his family, whom were blessed to have had him in your presence for the time you did. I'm of the opinion that such wonderful spirit was likely 'grown' within his family of origin? You must be from & in a magical space of family? Blessings 2U & ur family & I hope the millions of us whom loved ur cousin brings SOME small piece of comfort in ur loss? Take care & God Bless ...🙏

Lu Lucio That was very moving. Had me in tears. I miss him terribly. I had written him a couple of songs because I understood his gift, but unfortunately time was not on our side. I'm amazed at your insight about our family. Yes, we are a "magical" group. Carl was the more ambitious one by persuing a professional career in the industry but the vocal talent runs deep amongst our family. My mom's voice is unlike any you've ever heard. The power, depth, vibrato and range is staggering. Suffice it to say, she is afraid of taking things further.......nerves, shyness, etc. I wrote a book called "On My Way to Hollywood" and I share my journey in the entertainment business. I lived in LA for a couple of years and got to spend some time with Carl. I think it's safe to say that he and I were the only ones bold enough to pursue a career in the industry. I as an actor and he as a singer (amongst other things). Again, the vocal talent in our family is simply amazing! Thank you for those beautiful words. We come from a loving family full of compassion. Blessings to you and yours!

TwelveCastles Awe Bless your heart ❤. I had NEVER left comments on any social media platform in my life (& I'm now 52) until this past year & even at that, very rarely. Under 10 at the most. Having lost my older sis & my best friend a few yrs ago due to a hospital "mistake" I KNOW how it FEELS to LOSE. So when I saw ur comment, something just "moved" me to try n reach out. Unsure of how these platforms operate tbh, lol, & thus never expecting you might SEE my comment so soon (if at all even?) & even LESS expectation to hqve a reply. Allow me to concur how YOUR response followed in moving me as well ..... I think that, right there IS the essence of what I recognize 2b the "Holy Spirit" 🙏 &/or Grace? Now, out of purely curious interest, maybe someday you will share links to viewability of either urself &/or family members for those of us who'd undoubtedly enjoy & appreciate? Grace is Grace & Gifts are 2b shared afterall? *wink* I added ur book title to my list as I am an AVID reader of All Kinds of literary enjoyments & would LOVE to read! My thirst for reading & knowledge basically necessitates that unless a "MUST READ" is otherwise not possible, I relegate purchases from the used &/or 2nd hand markets .... but u can be assured its on my list 😉 I CAN'T even IMAGINE what it must be like to be raised in a warm, loving, compassionate family dynamic (my parents were BOTH diagnosed professionally - & via multiple professionals on separate, but multiple occassions as being of 'highly narcisissitic' personality constructs 😞) .... so yeah, a loving family is (for me) a foreign enough reality .... but add in a joyful, musically or other gifted clan? Wowsa! That's would have been - or for folks like yourself, still is - the lottery! LOL The karmic just-ness of the Universe comes through you so beautifully bcuz the cherry atop the whole family sundae is that YOU RECOGNIZE & APPRECIATE your blessing 🤗 ..... and that right there is just one example possible of the wonderous & Divine Beauty or Perfection that the world & Life DO HAVE to offer .... for those who dare to look for, recognize & appreciate such 😐 Thank YOU for ur lovely & informative response that validated my suspicions, lol. Indeed, you as well lifted MY spirit this eve Again, many Blessings to You & Yours .... always *head nod* & *blown kiss*

For the era/generation/year that this play/movie was released, some of us can recall the lines about backwards times, place and would wonder aloud about 'mass communication' and all that entailed considering today's technology and 'mass' messaging and social media platforms. Seminal and brilliant lyrics and nobody I know would ever deny Mr. Anderson's acting and singing capabilities, which have always remained memorable.

He was very passionate as Judas. The anguished young black man with a hint of militancy in his mien was a popular trope in the early seventies but he was much more than that and not at all hard on the eyes either. The Judas in the 2000 version of JCS was a fine singer/actor but he played Judas as a standoffish cynic, not someone with enough of an emotional investment in Jesus or anyone else to kill himself over them.

In the Bible it doesn't really say what Judas's motives were, whether he was afraid of stirring shit with the Romans, if he just wanted the money, a combination of both, or something completely different. Money as the sole or primary motive doesn't feel true, somehow. People don't kill themselves over someone that they can casually sell out.
