Take a trip back to 1997 and check out Carl Barron's first ever TV appearance on Channel 9's NRL Footy Show. After this he became one of the shows most loved comedians. For tour dates visit www.carlbarron.com
The great thing is you can tell Carl is genuinely surprised that the crowd is having a laugh and you can see his motivation and confidence grow within minutes. Carl's jokes are great observational humour and whilst not always the funniest of jokes, coming from him he pulls them off well and one can not help but love watching him. A great guy and great comedian.
It’s funny how Carl couldn’t believe he was funny when he first started out. It’s lucky for us that he kept going, otherwise he would have been a roof tiler.
Imagine how many roof tilers Australia loses out on potential comedians each year. Aussies are a humble bunch, but not without a wicked sense of humour.
He would have been the funniest roof tiler you ever met lol its strange how many funny buggers there actually is in tradies occupations Paul Hogan was another one
... His genuinely surprised that people are laughing. Aussie legend now. Even though his material is everyday mundane things, his unique and genuine delivery is what makes it work.
It was good before they fucked it up. Once Matty left, the show died. Then they bought the women on, and then the idiot Beau Ryan... it was like a train wreck in slow motion
I remember watching this live. Knew he was going to be a star straight away. The funny thing is I was living in a sharehouse in my early 20's and I do believe he was a friend of my flatmate. At the time I said to him you need to do stand up. I always wondered if it was really him. Lovely guy.
Carl Barron’s jokes work well on the same crowd that love the footy show. He probably never had that many people in his audience that loved his material, but whoever spotted him and thought of putting him on the show was a genius because it was the perfect cross-section of the population that loves his jokes.
I can't say that I've ever been surprised by a comedian's reactions to the crowd's reactions...yeah analyze that...but your reactions are pure gold. Awesome to see. New fan here.
He looks so nervous! Here a star is born. By the way, he uses the same jokes over and over again. That all that i can complain other than that he is the best comedian ever.
I can't help thinking, how nice everyone in the audience looks. It may be, that there are no tattoos, and no face piercings. The audience looks so clean and healthy, I had no idea how bad people had started to look these days.
I had an Italian exchange student who came over with his class and the exchange students and the buddies had a party. when i left i said cya and from that point they were giving me shit for saying it
I meet Carls mum @ a Coolangatta pub one night. She was living with a Kiwi guy from Reporoa & he had a nice 1969 V8 Monaro. She said their family was involved in race horse training or breading.?? & she was very proud of Carl.even gave us a carl stubbie holder & CD.
Yo did they have an ‘applause’ light and that’s why he kept commenting on their reactions? A true respect for a comedian is laughter, not claps, they don’t want claps!!!
