Yes! It's really him! Carl Cox joins us on the show this week, playing cuts and remixes from his brand new album - All Roads Lead To The Dancefloor, in an exclusive mix over four CDJ-2000s and the DJM-2000. This really is special.
Carl tells Dan Tait about the concept behind the album and how it comes on a unique USB key, packed with additional content.

I don't care for the style of music at all; but I am in awe of the coordination it requires, as well as skill. I watched way more of the video than I would have simply listened to the soundtrack. Its and impressive art, and I wish I could do as such. .. even not liking the style in itself.

look who you're talking about ..skrillex, avicii of course they can't mix with vinyls. Theres plenty of "young talent" out there that can mix w/ vinyls. You just gotta search carefully. And I agree, technology progresses you can't stay stuck with vinyls.. as cool as it is to watch someone mix with them they are a thing of the past. Get with the times. this bs about "back in my time" is so overused..old skool is fun but it happened already,give the younger generation their space to do their thing
@MrDarthSeriousmixes
@MrDarthSeriousmixes 11 лет назад
Yes, I use a midi controller with an external mixer. so, yes, i press sync. But I play 4 tracks a the same time with loops and fx sends. pressing sync is a way to let the computer do one thing and it lets you do on-the-fly remix and new tracks. its more of an instrument than just press play, nudge the track blend it with anotherone for hours. its making music just like a pianist, a guitarist or a drummer would do. either you're pressing sync or not, djing is an instrument but in different ways.
@sleepy5zzz
@sleepy5zzz 12 лет назад
alright i get what your saying but i believe all good songs have a climax. I mean take Stairway to Heaven. If the entire song was just beginning flute it would be boring. Or Free Bird with the guitar solo at the end. Both great songs with climaxes. A drop adds a climax to the song which I feel Carl Cox's stuff lacks and it doesn't appeal to me. I can see why people like his stuff cuz it is very easy to dance to and he's amazing at mixing but idk just not really for me.

deadmau5 is producer as kyle munoz said... when deadmau5 plays he has most of it set up for him on ableton live or something similair (you can just tell if you know these things) Carl cox is a legend of house... You are really ignorant to think he is bad or to compare him to deadmau5.... DJing takes alot more skill than playing live via ableton suite (like deadmau5).... atleast he isusing decks(unfortunately not vinyl but i am POSITIVE that carl cox can use vinyl rofl) Pay some respect!!!

36 min - 43 min: Fantasy Earth,Wind & Fire(Album Version-All'n All) Any idea where I can get this?? (Assuming this is whats playing at 36mins, saxophone track???) I'll be damned if I can find it anywhere, not even on Discogs, all I'm finding is a 70's soul track by Fantasy called Earth,Wind & Fire which doesn't even have a sax in it
@MrPrivatewiggles
@MrPrivatewiggles 11 лет назад
i dunno man. sometimes the kick drums are slightly out/eq'd poorly, which never sounds good. not saying he isnt sick, just that he isnt immune from criticism (who is?). also sometimes his use of the fx is a bit too liberal (i've been known to do exactly the same thing)

Hey i have heard much of Carl Cox and i totally believe hes very talented. but yeah this does look easy. i see some general mixing w/ echo effects and things like that. Can someone go more in depth of what hes doing and the techniques hes using so i can get a better understanding?
@sendata
@sendata 12 лет назад
i´m on nothing. maybe i should to love this? no. it is a good tape- really. but who put effects on each track like him here? it was a trained set with cd´s in a chain. nothing else. and ishould i like that? he´s a pro who earns money with stuff like that. ok. but don´t tread me, if i dislike it.
@Jasbrou
@Jasbrou 12 лет назад
I dont know if you noticed the mix table, but he plays like 3 musics at the same time. Have you ever seen a Skrillex live performance? He doesen´t do anything. He is not a dj, he is a producer and musician, but he charges 100k to perform in a show, and he only presses the start and stop button...

@vicentegomes1579

They are doing it wrong. If it clips anywhere, its becase the device cant handle the signal. Carl Cox is very good at mixing, but I dont see why he lets his music clip so fucking much. And a lot of pros do it, and it destoys the equipment.
@Deetnoo
@Deetnoo 11 лет назад
Probably, because he makes music, he dont mix, give some famous dj the same tracks and the session will become bored, but he works hard to make a groove and speed to the session, like no other, thats true. Best dj? probably, best hard worker on cabin? sure.
@Randombutlicker
@Randombutlicker 12 лет назад
I prefer Carl overall but I wont go as far to say Deadmau5 is complete shit, Deadmau5 does have some pretty good produced tunes but his gigs are terrible by comparison, that's probably where his overall hatred of dj'ing stems from.

Everytime I see Carl Cox and his 4 CDJ's-2000 and that DJM-2000 it's like a dream comed true. It's hard to play on 2 CDJ's, but on 4 I think you must have some real quick hands. xD
@sirmiluch6856
@sirmiluch6856 3 года назад
Well, it's not that hard. Actually it's super easy to play with 2x CDJ2000. I mean, you have everything there. BPM, visualized beats and track key. If you moved from vinyls to CDJ2000 it's almost alike auto mix. And it's not like playing on vinyls is complicated though. 3x technics 1200 is easy to play for anyone who have at least a little talent and experience. 4x cdj 2000 with current music that is way less complicated in terms of composition? Easy.
@devidia
@devidia 12 лет назад
i wonder, do dj's of this lvl actually look at the bpm count on the cdj? or do they really just pitch adjust in a sex and instantly know if its correct?
@dfcb11
@dfcb11 12 лет назад
This guy's using 4 cdjs AND a fuken mixer, deadmau5 and skrillex only use a laptop, 1 cdj and a trigger finger... I don't see how people can compare this man to them. And I'm a dubstep fan and producer, but it's the truth, what are you gonna do about it.
