Agreed. The majority of what we know today as "mental health issues" don't stem from a medical condition, yet it has somehow been established that a medical solution is in order. The outcome of the classical brain-mind debate in psychology left us with a physiological paradigm, rather than philosophical one.

It's sad that a lot of the depth of his thoughts and ideas are not more mainstream. The medical model negates the human spirit, and is based in materialism. It can be useful, but it lacks the deep philosophical observations that Jung made about the nature of the human experience and what we need to live a fulfilling life. I also wonder if his theory of the Anima and Animus would help a lot of the current gender confusion happening in society, as it doesn't dismiss the idea of opposing sex energies in an individual as a delusion, but something that needs to be acknowledged and confronted, therefore integrating it into the persons sense of self in a healthy way, rather than projecting that shadow onto everyone else.

For me Jung was a much needed bridge between that very rigorous analytic scepticism (often in association with materialism) to the more elusive and subtle mysteries of psyche and the universe. I like to think that his legacy is the gift of a possible marriage between the two for modern man.

I know a young man who recently earned his master’s degree in counseling. He told me that among academic psychologists nowadays, the easiest way to derail your career is by mentioning the name Carl Jung. I related this to a retired Jungian analyst I know. He said he wasn’t surprised. Jung had predicted it.

A person’s intellect could best measured by their ability or inability to incorporate seemingly disparate concepts into their worldview through strict trial and observation. The process adds new context as well as an appreciation of subtlety you can otherwise never experience through dismissal and a rigid adherence to a single way. Modern academia is in direct opposition to this process and basically equates to a money grabbing machine that expects its acolytes to link arms, gate keep knowledge and ostracize anyone who would suggest that things might not be so simple.

It's great that Jung was able to dive so deeply into mysticism/archetypes/alchemy etc. His work was his passion it seems, so I've always thought of Jung as a natural mystic. Sometimes it feels like Jung was the first person to put his thumbprint on how we envisage the unconscious, so it has a very Jung flavor, steeped in his personal archetypes. Somebody had to do it, because the topic is so intangible how do you take a Scientific scalpel to it?
@agrippasdiary
@agrippasdiary Год назад
You simply don't. The scientific aproach is strictly materialistic, and therefore incomplete. Jung, like Newton, Eliade and other natural mystics knew that you have to study both. The refusal to do so would close the door to many insights, which is really a shame. If you can't explain something with science, it does not mean it does not exist. And what we explain using science, might apply only to what we pretend to know based on our limited perception. But then again, isn't during actual mystical experiences when the limitations of our perception are revealed to us?
@davidcontreras8583
@davidcontreras8583 Год назад
Interesting question at the end. I wonder if it is wise to accommodate our petty scientific models to something so complex, such a wild exploration of the fauna of being that Jung described. Maybe we can start by getting more humble our expectations and look down to earth. I'm talking to you Elon musk types 🤔

Dont get it twisted, Yung was not a mystic nor was he in the vein of alchemists. He believed in one God and had faith. Its remarkably subtle yet dangerous to mix this with gnostic tradition, they're enemies of each other.

The work of Carl jung was very complex scientifically and spiritually. One thing that was constant was his relentless search for answers to his questions that i believe weren't limited by any one source. He did not limit himself in any one theory and this gave us a rich and valuable window to look through from his year's of experience. I believe Jungs goal was to sit in the middle of the magnet/masculine and feminine, or to join in union both hemispheres of the brain to live the fullest life of the Alchemist. IN TRUTH. 🙏💜

I believe it is the role of the philosopher to render eternal truths to the level of awareness in the collective consciousness. In the case of Jung, I believe his teachings fulfill this purpose and have now come to blossom. I'd argue this is largely in response to reconciling the utter madness of these recent years, which was also a catalyst for mass individuation.

Yes I think Jung theory is quite similar to our ancient philosophy. Especially in Hindu it is called as Sanathana, it teaches that our mind is a vehicle to the Soul and soul is nothing but Consciousness. All the activities are doing by our unconscious in it as Jung mentioned about Archytype it is called Guna. Here says the Individiation is called AthmaSakshatkar, means to know our own self. The wholness is to know ourselfs, and finding who we are. Like this lots of process. But Jung theory helps the modern society with great understanding. Carl Jung's theory is the great gift to the Mankind. Thank you

Many of my dreams are not my own. I pick up stuff from other people and others pick up my stuff. I have connected with invisible entities through certain rocks, crystals and minerals that filter what comes in and what goes out in a way that is different from someone who does not cultivate such associations. Some of these are identifiable with what the ancient Egyptians fashioned into engraved gemstones and amulets used in alchemical rituals. The "Book of Lambspring" and "The Golden Tripod- La Practica" by Basil Valentine are monthly progressions for identified talismans of this type, although there is no identifying who or how they were originally created. Likely a forgotten world, techniques and beliefs.

Carl Jung probably had all this in him from childhood to adulthood... however, once he began to study and read about these mysteries. I can imagine he got his confirmation about his understandings and contemplations... so yes and no is my answer... its more like a calling, which he was quite suited for I fell and belive... he is waaay above his contemporaries such as Sigmund.. and I don't know but what I can see in Carl Jung, is a good foundation of humbleness and sacrifice. He did do this and did it right... Good stuff the world would suffer from not having Carl Jung works

Deepest gratitude for the work that you do. To your question: yes I think that CG Jung’s theories are build upon ancient mystical teachings. To this end, having studied Advaita Vedanta, I could draw parallels to spiritual practices such as Atma Vichara, Self enquiry, asking ‘Who am I? ‘ . These form an integral part of one’s spiritual path within this modality. Conclusions reached could lead the seeker to the same revelations: the home coming to the self, our true nature and with this Union to and with source, divinity, the cosmos. Beyond polarity and duality, there are realms where stillness speaks, as one becomes the observer of all and nothing at the same time. The closer one moves towards divine union, the more one can learn about one self and one’s Self. And when one returns, the world and its existence is beginning to make sense.

Regarding your question I believe it’s the source of Carl Jung’s wisdom is beside the take away from all teachings of theory especially philosophy as time change so does what is relevant and in touch with our lives in our respective communities. The source only matters when it’s going to be used legislatively and practically to make decisions we can not afford to risk. Our laws should be and are specific to our times and well-fair state, our principles are inline with our instinct and uninfluenced intuition. This is naturally so, and any new changes must come as result of data collected and pre-application large scale predictive models where we expect unpredictability and unforeseen outcomes.

I would be interested in what you think about the concept of "twin flames". I'm not saying this lightly. Even as a type this, I defy the idea as some psychological nonsense, which it probably is - and yet it may hold a deeper meaning. My own very tumultuous process towards individuation would not have begun, had I not met, a decade ago, someone I later cautiously referred to as "twin flame". It was a strange experience. I saw him as I found myself right opposite him. I glanced at him jokingly, but he stared at me and grabbed my hand - which was of course completely inappropriate. I brushed him off my mind. Three years on, he again tried to draw my attention - he failed and I felt irritated. It's interesting that during our initial fleeting encounter I had the feeling as if I knew him wholly and subconsciously. He was an open book I had no desire to read. He was dull. He was myself in my unpleasant, immature, superficial ways. A few more years passed and I learned he had been diagnosed with a degenerative disease which he had denied for over a decade. I don't know what overcame me, but I felt I should write to him at once. Thus began a journey which lasted for five years. I was of course writing to myself. It was a diary on fire - I spared nothing. I dug as deep as my immense childhood trauma; I left no stone unturned. During all this time he never recognised my existence. When I briefly stopped writing, however, I got a surprise message from a (homosexual) friend of his: "Please keep writing. It's vital. It means the world to him. He loves you passionately. Anything you may throw in for him, is a real thrill." I kept writing for some time, but then I stopped. I realised I had been writing to myself entirely. (Had it been ENTIRELY? Is Jung a secret Nondualist?!...) The effects it all had on him were bizarre. While stricken by this grave condition, and looking almost frightening, he decided to undergo plastic surgery. If the Parkinson's hadn't rendered his face a mask, now he certainly WAS one.I was going to brush all this away, but I keep getting reminders of him. Today a song of his is in my head: Look at me And you'll begin to recognize reality Sickness lives only in your mind Look at me Give yourself completely Look at me, trust in me Look at me, I can heal you

As a Christian, I believe the world misunderstands our faith as assimilation. Christianity is serving the God who tells us to lose ourselves so we may gain who we truly are. He helps us to be made whole, but not through self-actualization, but by laying our life down at the feet of Christ, who can save us from the sin that keeps us from thinking and knowing truly.

This is very true. Self realization makes us think it’s all about us but it’s not.

Apocryphal Text sure, but 'Thunder Perfect Mind's is a good example of this. YHWH says 'I am.' THUNDER (YHWH) says 'I am the Utterance of My Name.' And thus he is saying, 'I exist, I am Existence'

In a way it kind of is. You basically confirmed that followers of your faith promote submission to an abstract absolute concept. The problem with Christianity is that it requires for people/worshippers to lose themselves while in truth there needs to be a balance. The pursuit of self-actualization for the sake of actualization itself (the obsession with which is present in modern society) is just as bad as the negative side of your faith which is total submission and belief in a "absolute source of truth and knowledge" that limits your understanding of the world along with yourself and keeps you trapped in a personal Neverland akin to Peter Pan. In truth as previously mentioned there needs to be a balance of both sides for otherwise we risk to becoming slaves of either side and not whole beings. Christ himself is capable of keeping you from thinking and knowing truly just like sin. I would also add that many things that your faith calls "sin" is not sin at all, but necessary instincts that helped our species to survive since the time that our ancestors started to evolve. Just like with self actualization and submission to abstract truths there needs to be a balance between our conscious minds and the primal instinct. Our life is an endless battle to achieve unity between two opposites that rule our nature and it can only come when we find a way to "feed both of our wolves correctly" as told to us by an ancient Native American tale. To clarify I have nothing against the search of truth in the concept of God and a desire to believe that there is a kind of order/Great plan which we are a part of or which we are potentially supposed to reflect. My problem is with the ignorance and unquestionable devotion which prevents people from listening to differing ideas or points of view and unfortunately many Christians (especially in current times) seem to take the former approach instead of the latter one and ironically enough that approach is primarily driven by a desire to protect the idea to which they submitted themselves.

I've personally witnessed and thusly concluded, those of us that will say we've discovered the meaning of life, say the same. The meaning of life is to create meaning. The purpose of life is to create purpose. All who find it either created themselves or were there to witness another create it and latched on with all their being.

Admirable words can win the public's respect Admirable actions can improve people Those who are unkind How can they be abandoned? Therefore, when crowning the Emperor And installing the three ministers Although there is the offering of jade before four horses None of it can compare to being seated in this Tao Why did the ancients value the Tao so much? Is it not said that those who seek will find, And those with guilt will not be faulted? Therefore, it is the greatest value in the world

I feel as though Jung himself knew more then he could convey through his writings. One has to remember that certain information gets limited and one is chosen for the pinnacle that gets promoted. Ie; accepted and made popular. Sweetening over time like a fine wine. Knowing there is much more, than yin and yang as just a mere title, or name, it does not explain further. Like which impulse may be directed or in directed at the earth, at certain times in history. Which may further exacerbate one impulse, yin, over the other, yang. Which would beg the question. Why and where is the impulse originating? Is our consciousness affecting the decision of which impulse is stronger? If earth is conscious, would our actions have a direct impact on which impulses were absorbed, so to speak. Or acknowledged by earth to regain balance at certain times.

i would imagine carl jung was heavily influenced by the mystery schools given his ties to them through other influential people/scholars/academics he was associated with. however a universal truth is a universal truth which still can be found by any person in any space of time. i think at the very least he rediscovered the deeper meanings which have laid hidden/lost for many years but even the great jung was shaped/influenced/guided by his environment. mentors, and intuition and that it was his environment or path witch led him to discover and ancient universal truth which has always been there.

Of course, good and seeking sir, Jung did indeed build a theory of the unconcious and of individuation upon the pioneers of the ancient past. Pioneers who, through myth and legend, 'unconsciously' delved into the challenging and agonizing processs of going deep within to realize one's true potential as an individual, not just another copy cat non-entity. The Christ used word play with Divine wisdom when He said "If you bring forth, that which is inside you, that which is inside you, will save you. If you fail to bring forth that which is inside you, that which is inside you WILL destroy you"...The authentic individual is faced with no choice but to embrace the deep challenge of individuation.

This makes me wonder. I have Autism, so the societal imprints on my behaviour is pretty clear to me, because I have to consciously learn it to implement it. Does this put me at an advantage to individuation? If so how much and how far along am I?

Thank You but what do I know, at this moment in time I only know I know nothing. I feel I have a thousand steps to climb and I am on the first step, thanks to Carl Jung. I'd probably know more if I was born, raised in a more spiritual society. Yes, of course Carl Jung built his work on the ancient world of myths and legends For me, we are a living mother earth to the cosmos and what life out there is no other but our own spiritual ancestors. Who operate on frequencies unknown to us returning to us in many forms. Our ancient teachings have been erased or lost for what reasons I do not know. Our purpose or my purpose is look within, rather than out to space because there I have found purpose and peace.

The one area in which I don't fully agree, and this is based on the insight of a psychoanalyst with over 40 years of experience, is that the anima/animus is actually a relating function, not an inner man or woman(this is a very common misconception). It is the image we experience the anima/animus as, either in our own psyche or project onto another. The relationship with the masculine or feminine aspects of the psyche start with our mother and father, hence when the relationship is strained, unhealthy or nonexistent, the idea and reality of "mommy issues" or "daddy issues." If these unhealthy relationships are not reconciled by the individual, either externally or internally, the person will express those wounds(for lack of a better word) in his or her relationships with others, usually the opposite gender. The "shit tests" that women put men through, mostly unconsciously, are expressions of her animus, in a similar way that a father would look after his daughter when engaging in a relationship with a male partner...

To answer the question in the vid...Jung did not take credit for the SELF motif. He openly gave credit to another culture and belief system (the likes of which skip my mind atm) I will add it soon as I remember it. While the Self motif was not a blow by blow plagiarism it was a fascia of things to come and part of the recipe called the Ego Shadow dance (in my head)...now I need to go find the source and add it. No doubt Jung went above and beyond to research out a multitude of contributions to the final depth of his work. As always such an amazing though provoking vid 🙂👍...you do not disappoint fine sir & lovely madam 😋 hehe just messing.

I'm sure he used the ancient stuff in his work but I see it like there's no song that doesn't sound a little like another song its inevitable. I'm very grateful for jungian wisdom and the stuff that came out as a byproduct like Alcoholics anonymous for one and idk I guess he showed us that we can be our own guru oh yeah and the concept of introverts and extroverts. He truly traveled the road less traveled to hell and back and he brought his pen with him to jot it all down
