Carl's proficiency is breathtaking! And guitarist Paul Bielatowicz and bassist Simon Fitzpatrick play fantastically well along with him! Thank you for sharing this video, what a treat. I wasn't able to be at this show, but Redwood City is my home town and it's great to enjoy this performance. This was recorded two days after Carl's birthday - and almost exactly 46 years after the first shows that I saw ELP, in San Francisco 24 and 25 March 1972. My musician brother introduced me to Carl and Greg before ELP's sound check-rehearsal the first day, and Carl and Greg kindly visited with us throughout the day when they took breaks while the crew was perfecting the sound and lighting effects for the show. Keith Emerson played non-stop all day, and appeared to be composing a piece that turned up later on "Brain Salad Surgery". It was an amazing day for a 15-year-old girl at only my second rock concert! (My brother enlisted several friends to be my bodyguards, to get our parents to let me attend concerts - my hero!) I was so intimidated by meeting ELP, felt so out of my depth, and Carl and Greg were so kind and friendly. One of the most fun and memorable days of my life. I'm happy to see Carl performing, happy and well. Thank you again for sharing.
Awesome, love it! ...sure Keith and Greg would be so proud of Carl and his band of continuing their great musical legacy. The question I want to know, when is Carl and his band heading for down under especially Adelaide?
Bollocks Keith the whole idea of this clip is to watch the drums thats why they are predominant and Palmer has lost non of his speed skill and technique even with advancing years
In this video, the drums completely drown out the others. It's either poorly miked or poorly mixed. I saw ELP play this song live half a dozen times. This is a weak impersonation of Tarkus.
Bass needs more volume. And a guitar, in my opinion, doesn't have enough power to replace Emerson's Moog. That's damn tough. (Truth be told, I watched only the first 3 minutes... so maybe something improved part way through). Palmer is great.
