Note:
In June of 2020 the owner of Jacksonville Guitar Center retired (after 45+ years of business). All of the vintage guitars and amps in the museum were sold to Guitar House of Tulsa in Oklahoma

Growing up as a drummer, Carl was the bassist I most wanted to play with during the Bonnie and Delaney, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, and Eric Clapton/Layla years. Solid groove. perfect tempo and tastefull notes. The Best I've heard at making the song. R.I.P. - a fan. p.s. The Alembic was where it should be, - on a stand.

I had that same Alembic bass in a lefty model I found in 1980 at Manny's Music in NY when my band was on the road. It wasn't cheap, but a few guys in the band lent me some money until we got paid so I could have it. Finding left handed basses back then wasn't easy and to find an Alembic lefty was too good to pass up. I wish.....oh I wish I still had it !

Yes I was the proud owner of that Series 1 Alembic serial #75-171. It was walnut. Unfortunately Carl never played it, he hocked it to Terry at Golden Pawn shortly before he tragically and sadly passed away.

My recent album "Tony Marino - Friday Night" has a song dedicated to Carl. Here is my story. When I was 11 years old I bought a single ticket to see Leon Russell perform at the Philadelphia Spectrum. I arrived a few hours before the show started so that I could get as close to the stage as possible. I was able to find a spot up front right near the piano. While I was waiting for the show to start, Carl Radle walked on stage. When I saw him I yelled “HEY CARL”, he looked over at me I waved, he waved back and left the stage. About two hours later the show started. When Carl walked on stage, he looked over at me, waved and smiled. I was so happy, he made my day. This song is dedicated to the memory of Carl Dean Radle. RIP Carl. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-izqcOP6AORE.html

I saw Carl playing this monster in concert one time. Biggest electric bass I had ever seen. Always wondered what it was. Thanks for posting!

Very nice. I once owned a Series I, serial number 7412 which I believe made it the 12th bass ever built by Alembic. I remember that it had brown pickups and a more rounded top and bottom horn.

@@grouchosays No. I owned a store named Jacksonville Guitar Ctr and I had a small guitar museum in one end of the store. I sold everything when I retired in 2020. And I like to play volleyball.

Lucky bastard. How much was the bass? Alembic is the best ever, never mind my name.

Alembics are great, but for Brother's Johnson type of funk playing, the Music Man Stingray can't be beat.
