As a matter of fact, she was born in a castle in Italy, and happens to have an actual aristocratic family background. Her accent does sound quite French though I must a admit. This background in question explains why she used to be so close to designers such as Gianni Versace and Thierry Mugler, got to date incredibly bright and iconic men and used to stand out without ever having to try - back in the supermodels era - as the education she has recieved caused her to blossom into quite a bright woman who carries herself very graciously. Lovely lady. She was relevant before becoming our first lady years ago, is still relevant to this day and will most definitely remain relevant "post Nicolas" if - god forbid - the two of them were to end their relationship for some reason.
I'm french and I always assumed her parents immigrated in france when she was little or something because her and her sisters don't have any accent what so ever.
@@ggboy4948 did you actually watch the video? She said she is Italian, but become French citizen once she got married to her French husband, who later became the President of France.
@@HeathifyMyLife Sarkozy killed Kadhafi for not paying French debts to Libya. Sarkozy accepted the money of a powerful Arab president to come to power and participated in Kadhafi elimination. Gangster but deceitful .
I know right!! She lived so many lives, it’s so inspiring, Kim Kardashian is a successful woman clearly but when she comes onto the Ellen show, she doesn’t have much to talk about and that goes for all her sisters, especially Kourtney who is as interesting as looking at paint drying. Carla Burni, is such a cool and interesting guest, I hope Ellen brings more people like her.
@S Han For outsiders like us it comes off that way...she speaks so softly...and she is so laid back...so above all the pettiness. Someone like Linda Evangelista for example exudes so much pretence and arrogance in comparison.
@@shivapejman8155 She stood out of all the women in that league...She was originally from an aristo family...and the classiness always showed in her interviews.
Carla is in the ASMR section of music. She's a poet who sings quietly, almost in a spoken way. It takes TONS of talent, culture in arts, thought, sensitivity and sensibility to pull off a successful music career without having been born with a Mariah Carey's voice. I often compare her path to Charlotte Gainsbourg's (who also started doing music after cementing a career in a different field and was born into a family of wealth). Not everything that is good has to be X-Factor good.
Charlotte Gainsbourg first released music when she was around 12, with her father. I think she focused on acting after that before also doing music again, but she did music first.
This is the first interview I saw with her and she seems an absolute delight, so calm, grateful, artistic and happy. Beautiful. And also LOVE her music:)xx
Well the super Mario accent is a myth and I agree on that, although I'd say she sounds somewhere in between French and Italian, can't really decide for any of her native languages
I'm a native french speaker and I can hear the french accent, but it's true that it's not as heavy and as french as when let's say Macron or other french people speak it. There is some italian influence on it.
She's so sweet. I love her music, I guess you can say it is very "original" when you think about the kind of music we're used to listen on the radio these days.
I don't. I'm just saying that crappy songs is what is on the radio these days, not that they're all there is. Idina Menzel is on my playlist, not Katy Perry. (And no, not Let It Go, I like her since way before Frozen).
I think she's got a rather thick italian accent (she's ethnically italian afterall) even though she speaks good english. However when she speaks french she sounds like a native.
C-phora Yeah I think her whole persona is off-putting. The typical gorgeous, rich, bitchy queen who feels too damn artsy to even breathe your same air. Ultimately she might even be the complete opposite as in the most lovable ever. Public image isn't always the truth.
Marto Marto Sei italiano? I'm sorry but I have to disagree..I am Italian and I don't have the stereotypical italian-english accent and so many other people I know!
MrGuitarShowMan Proud to be Italian? I'm pretty sure Carla Bruni hates Italy and everything related to it! But yes, she definitely doesn't sound Italian - I'd say she sounds like an Italian trying to fake a French accent while speaking English.
@@Kristina-fl4dn wow so politically correct. I'm sure if your daughter wants to chat with you at 3am you won't send her to bed because you can't silence women :D :D
This girl knows how to play her cards well in an admirable way. She was one of the highest sought after models by designers in the 90's. I believe she was with Silvester Stallon too.
She talks well and smart...the way she answers the question about whether to support her husband to run again is just brilliant and right on the spot. Watched her earlier interviews when she was in her 20s, she was smart back then. I like her.
What a classy, lovely, talented and intelligent woman. Ellen, don't be afraid to have other off-the-beaten-path guests such as this. Such a breath of fresh air...
Oh that is a very nice thing to say, thank you. And please, us Europeans absolutely love the American optimism, it is very charming and refreshing, you are also very ingenious in your own right, as well.
we europeans love your americans too, we learn also a lot from your culture......all in all the americans also are europeans back in the days so we share one history.
Smarter? you can write this lie thanks to an american invention made by americans called Internet, You Tube, for sure you have Facebook and Instagram.. well you must know NASA, Apple, etc. etc. and there are a lot of beautiful and slim ladies among the 300 million americans..
She's an incredibly deep and has a complex personality. She is clever and very cultivated. Of course that wouldn't come out easily in another language or in that type of shows or interviews.
she comes from a very healthy italian family, she was raised there in the first years of her life so she perfectly speaks italian but at a very young age she went to France that's why she perfectly speaks french too
She has an Italian accent in English, I don't know what is your idea of Italian accent. Southern Italian maybe? She's from North Italy but her family moved to France when she was a child. Also her name is Italian.
3:53 She said "stand by your man" back in, I guess, 2014, and then sang "Stand by Your Man" in 2017, which became part of the sound track for the Korean drama "Something in the Rain" in 2018.
I love how she referred to her husband the President of France as her “man”. That was so endearing. She has lived 100 lives, makes me feel like I haven’t achieved much.
Jean-Marie Le Pain La liste de ses amants célèbres en France et même dans le monde est impressionnante, même Donald Trump se l'est tapé il y a de nombreuses années. Incroyable d'avoir eu un président français et un futur président des USA.
nope. It's botox It got a lot better, but I still remember when she first used it she looked so inflated and everytime i'd watch the news they'd talk about her face.
***** Nope, she doesn't. She looks fake. Every woman should get old without investing useless time and money on plastic and cosmetic surgery, just taking care of themselves is enough.
I dunno why a lot of you are commenting about accents. It's possible to speak several languages without an accent, as simple as that. And if you've lived in Europe it's normal to speak minimum 2-3-4 languages almost fluently.
Céline from London interesting point of view, Celine, and really unusual. :))))) And why is not normal , in your opinion, to speak other languages when you are french? :) doctor's orders?
***** I' speaking from experience. I'm french and didn't start learning until I was in middle school. I remember my teacher in middle school wanted to teach us but the school head master refused.... French people are arrogant and not open to the world. They assume that when they go somewhere (not that they travel to non french speaking countries that much)people will speak french. It's true. It's probably due to the fact that the french empire was so huge that there's so many countries that speak french(in africa, canada etc...) plus we do have a lot of overseas territories so when you're french you can go on vacations to many exotic places where you know people speak french so you don't need to speak english. Look at Sarkozy and even Hollande, they can't speak english to save their lives ( although Sarkozy is currently learning). I remember seeing this video of Sarko with Carla in Egypt I think and Carla was translating for him...And that is a man who graduated from one of our top schools, he's not an idiot but even as a president he never felt he needed to I guess.
Céline from London I see your point, but you do not have to generalize, I think it depends a lot on the person mainly, doesn't matter the nationality - if one wants to educate onself more than the average. And so :) you don't have to point to the Fr people, since in UK is the same rarely a person who'll necessary want to bother learning other than English, same goes in US- statistically speaking :). And I don't think it's arrogance, it's rather a comfort from which people are not motivated to get out. That's all. When your life depends on learning a new language ( I mean economically, socially) you'll do the effort and get out of your comfort. Learning (seriously) a language, I hope you agree, implies study but also practice, reading, writing extensively - that is more of what you do in school which (no matter the country) is never serious, that unless you're in a specialized languages scool and that's a different story. Me , I speak 3 other languages than my own very good, and other 3 less good. But in my case I was lucky... for some reason I didn't have to do too much effort to learn a language, that helped. :)To me every language is like a melody :). Once you get the right scale code then it comes natural. :)
Quando parlo Italiano si sente sempre il mio accento (robotico) Croato, invece quando parlo Inglese mi dicono che a volte sentono l'accento Italiano, manca solo quando parlo Croato sentirmi dire che ho accento americano
My favorite supermodel. Just an icon. I am so happy she said she became also french because of Sarkozy's career, otherwise she would have remained just italian.
Ari8anna She said she was just italian until she got married with Sarkozy (she was born in Italy and had been living there until 9 years old) , and if he had not been prime minister of France she would have remained just italian. She became french-italian after marrying him because was the right choice for his career..
When I saw her doing fashion 25 years ago I said this is one of the most beautiful women in the world. She comes over as very nice. She is also very intelligent, and modest.
+Carpe Diem Yes because she speaks it from a long time. And the italian accent for a lot of lenguages is really "adaptable".French is one of those lenguages. And then if you heard well, she still has a bit of italian accent. But like, you can barely listen to it
+Carpe Diem Italian is her mother language but she lives in France since a very young age which makes her perfectly bilingual. She speaks french without any particular Italian inflection but then when she speaks English she absolutely has an Italian accent.
