+Earl Dwire Oops, so sorry for the typo, silly me, at least I got it correct when commemorating him on a regional UK & internet live radio broadcast this week.
Great song/record from the Bronx's own Carlo Mastrangelo from 1964 on the Laurie record label. This is not the Belmont's but rather another Bronx, NYC group called the Demilles/Tremonts. This is 4 years after Dion & the Belmonts broke up and two years after Carlo left the Belmonts to pursue a solo career. Truly a wonderful song from that time that received a lot of airplay in the NYC area! Rest in Peace Carlo & thank you for the wonderful music memories......
sad! i used to hang withh im and his band at the tenderTrap in the bronx back in the real early 70's.. him and Vinnie from the Fudge .. and other great guys from bands when music was HOT in the Bronx.. R.I.P.
doctordoowop, Thanks for the great compliment about my Dad, Carlo Mastrangelo. Johnny Maestro is not his cousin, and I'm not sure about the Glen Stuart chorus. I'll let him know about your other two questions. Thanks, again, LuAnn Mastrangelo You can reach him on facebook.
Just recently learned of this great Doo Wop song. Love it. So glad that Carlo was able to achieve greatness without Dion, though I wish it had been with the Belmonts.
Ring-A-Ling was featured on Murray the K's nightly "Record Review Board Contest" in February of 1964 and was the clear winner! I still remember, as I voted for it. Thanks again Carlo for another great song. Is that you also doing the bass parts?
LuAnn Mastrangelo Carlo was an amazing singer and deserved recognition. i'm not sure if you would know the answer but I have a question concerning his career. I heard in a radio interview I was listening to of his and he said his hits like baby doll and this song would have been big hits but weren't for a reason he said he couldn't talk about yet. Do you know about that by any chance? I can link you the video if you'd like. Thanks in advance
yerboyfloyd I'm a huge Beatlefan myself, but I agree with you! When I was 14, I fell in love with Doo-Wop Music, since I first saw the movie "Peggy Sue got married". It really hit me and I listened to nothing else but Doo-Wop Songs and Rock n Roll of the 50ies and 60ies. When I was 19, my friend became a Beatlefan, and she showed me some songs, and I did not like them at all. :-P But after I got used to their unique sound, I became a huuuge Beatlefan! Since now, and I'm 30, I listen to this kind of music. I'm not into modern music at all. But I have to say, there are times, where I listen only The Beatles, but most of the times I listen to Doo-Wop, it just makes me happy! I LOVE IT!! ♡♡♡
