Neal Schon will always be on my TOP 10 Greatest Guitar Heroes of Rock (Santana is another one) ! Without Neal Schon, Journey wouldn't be as successful and legendary as they have ever been..!
apart from the obvious connection to see Steve Smith playing with the legendary Carlos Santana is a true joy to see and hear. thank you for posting this.
I remember Neal Schon joining Gary Moore on stage at the Cow Palace in Frisco 1984.....Rush Grace Under Pressure Tour. During Moore's Encore he invited Neal out and they went at it. Facing each other and ripping it. Nice Jam with Carlos. I like his Jersey...Thanks for Posting.
WOW--- Santana was there- as a special guest with Gregg Rollie. !! . Loved Santana on the 70's music at that times-but I realized now that it was NOt the trend - that I would love to hear-- BUT it seems that it was the sound of Journey songs that are TIMELESS-!!!!!!- it does not matter who sings it !! I lived through SP years --but he left Journey, band, for 30 years now..!!! Now, with AP around and delivering Journey amazingly well songs to maintain Journey's legacy-- why not? After all, SP left 30 years ago.. Some Bashers who are still hoping for SP's comeback---should understand that SP publicly claimed that he is NOT rejoining Journey ( even though AP publicly claimed that he would STEP BACK if SP rejoins Journey--BUT SP said NO in many of his 2018 Interviews.. SP plays SOLO now. BUT---- on the part of Journey- with AP - it is good that they are still doing LIVE Concerts and keeping the legacy of Journey alive !! With NO one keeping its legacy and NO songs around on shows---- maybe the song will be forgotten, same with the band that goes along with it---and NO additional pay for SP ( because SP gets a cut each time there's Tour Concerts ! ) I think AP is not imitating SP-- he was just hired to sing Journey songs as it is--- I saw the documentary! AP is Journey's frontman for 15 years now( from 2007--2022 and counting.. He had performed LIVE Concerts all over the world and millions of people had accepted him because they love Journey songs and AP sings incredibly well each time on LIVE Concerts! So, for a handful of bashers out there that want AP to fail---it's not worth it!! Schon and J Cain are NOT stupid to get a new frontman just to please a handful of bashers out there who some of them are racists! There are millions of people around the world that Journey had performed with AP loves and accepted AP and wish to see AP again on LIVE Concerts !! To get another steady frontman may take years-- at that time, maybe there's no more Journey at all !! SP even acknowledged & thanked AP ( see SP Speech during 2017 Rock Music Hall of Fame) Here's a Quote from SP..see below "I must give a complete shout-out to someone who sings his heart out every night, and it's Arnel Pineda. Where are you, Arnel? Where are you? He must be backstage. To Arnel, I love you. Woooo! Hi Arnel! Thank you. ( Quote from SP, Rock Hall of fame 2017 ) SP does not hate AP--- in fact, the 2 are on good terms.. So STOP fueling hate and anger! *****PEACE **** ######### Note" There may be lines that appear on top of my comments above, it was NOT my intention--- I just have a problem with my computer lately..
+Totong he can still sing..lol. he still sounds great.. his health is another thing.. has bad arthritis and had a hip replacement.. he is 67 years old.. the touring did him in.. he will not have the same voice he did in his younger days.. no singer does when they are that age.. :) Steve does not want to tour anymore. i wish he could though.. i never got to see them back in the day.. huge regret.
It is really challenging to try to fill the void of Steve Perry powerful and melodic voice; Arnel Pineda is doing a really good job coming close to what it was before and he should be thanked for it. There is only one Steve Perry.
your living off a memory of what you remember Steve Perry to be. He isn't that, and hasn't been that for a long time. There is not a chance he will ever be back with journey, steve perry (+30years) is going to break your heart. If your over 40, haven't learned yet that you can never go back?
+Tom Clark yeah.. he's referring to the fact that Greg Rolie was one of the founders of Journey with Neal Schon, so you would think with him there for the Santana reunion that Neal would have Greg come out and do a few of the early Journey classics that he sang on as well.
and bad eq and the fact that uses the neck pickup to solo instead of the bridge one like he used to do in the 70s, makes him sunk in the mix. Listen to the song The Journey on Revelations album and you will understand.
I was at this show. I went to see Journey more then Santana. Santana was awesome. Journey was ok only because Arnel's voice was bad. He was breaking up and could not hit the notes. I saw a video of him singing years before with Journey and he was much better. The dude's voice is worn out. To be expected I understand that.
