oh well. they’re missing out on this pop masterpiece of an album. this album is like a big wonderful secret. a reward for us that looked past that silly single ha
from what i understood Carly had a connection with Japan before Call Me Maybe with her Folk indie 1st CD release Tug of War, Japan took her in before any one else outside of Canada knew her ,Also with her other Canadian EP Curiosity, She even did a bonus song for the Tug of War CD for Japan , This is more then likely why she released Emotion in Japan 1st ,,
Okay, this just changed my mind about her. It has plenty of 80's influence from the synth to the Prince like chorus. And the deep drums makes for a fantastic ballad. Well done Carly, I had no idea you had it in you.
I think this is her best work yet...people underestimate her so much because of Call Me Maybe. Music like this will get her the recognition she deserves
***** Dont count out the music from Her Canadian Albums , Tug of War and Curiosity She did some very good work on those 2 Albums. they are just not known to well outside of Canada , Call Me May Be kinda was the focus ,
+sincerelysheo maybe so, its in your mind not reality. reality for 80's is Carly Simon... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c0A7jAVDPJU.html from 1987 "Coming Around Again" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xtdsUS5SRwI.html from 1987 The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q3rGRuwTbSI.html from 1987 "Give Me All Night ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uiACGM3Qh2k.html from 1987 All I Want Is You en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coming_Around_Again_(album) On AC not Billboard, but according to R & R /Gavin radio air play...Carly was #1 Coming, #4 Stuff, #5 Give, # 8 All. All because Carly Rae slows down the beat people think she's 80's, if that is so people want more from singers like Jepsen who give you pop trash. This is 1st song of hers that actually is good. Taylor isn't much better, she's hit and miss as far as true AC Pop from 80's. Neither qualifies for 80's sound. I called both 90's song. Only Carly Simon is truly 80's! Let me set the record straight! If you like Carly Simon, true 80's I suggest you subscribe to The AC Music Ch where we truly bring out the best of the past in today's singers... you won't hear all the bs of pop singers today[ nor conglomerate radio payola], incl only sporadic Jepsen, and Swift. What you will hear is Heritage style that made AC the #1 rated radio format in the world. Come join us, thx 4 your support.
+The Adult Contemporary Music Channel the funny thing is since you mentioned Carly Simon , Carly Rae J and Carly Simon ,Have become friends and keep in Contact, Also CRJ mentioned about some type of project together later on
+The Adult Contemporary Music Channel If you go and check out Carlys music she wrote before the pop stuff you will see her as who she really was before a Folk Indie song writer ,, Songs like Money and The Ego ,Worldly Matters ,A Cup of Tea and many others green couch series on youtube that is how she was known in Canada before writing pop songs
damn, I was sleeping on this whole ass album only playing "I really like you" on repeat. I miss out on this hidden gem of a song BIGTIME. SO GLAD I FOUND IT NOW.
E•MO•TION really was generational. Not necessarily because Carly was the first to get in on the 80s revival, but because the album was very much the benchmark for the style for a very long while. Not even mentioning how good it is lyrically, she just nails a perfect level of maturity and still relatabilty that most of her peers never really reached, even after the sub-genre hit its acme.
RapandRocker - This sounds nothing like 80s music, nor' does it have an 80s feel to it. There's just a linn drum. That's it. No polyphonic synths, nothing.
As a victim of bullying, all I wanted was a friend. This song just made me cry because there are people in the world that care. Thanks *Carly Rae Jepsen*, you just warmed my heart up.
Check out a Song by Carly called Worldly Matters on you-tube i Believe the Lyrics will touch you.,this not a pop song ,, its how she use to write before pop music
she has always been a great song writer even before Call Maybe,Her songs were Indie and folk back in 2009, She had a Gold Album in Canada based on Indie and Folk music,Call me Maybe, was written as a folk song ,it was a huge distraction for her fro the type of songs she did write it forced her into being pop for one CD This Kiss .Emotion CD is really Carly’s Style. And theTug of War CD
1 Yes ***** How her vocal style is at some parts reminds me of Britney's Baby One More Time album days, because it's coming from a throat and head voice projection.
But then again... it's cool to know about songs such as this one which are amazing but only you know about them and no one else. Plus, Imagine if songs like is got well known and the radio repeated them 24/7, it would the song!
One of my friends who’s really into hardcore punk introduced me to this song. I’m mostly into extreme metal, but I also fell in love with this song, and eventually the whole album. Who’da guessed it?
Jade's new single - Angels of my dreams was totally inspired by this great song. Hope Carly it's getting all the credits for that, girls. The pop bible keeps inspiring the world after almost 10 years 💕💕
I wanna play this for you all the time I wanna play this for you when you're feeling used and tired I wanna make the best of you and more Just let me in your arms Just let me in your arms I'll be the magic you ever see You can always rely on me To help you do what you want to do I wanna be the best you've ever known Just let me in your arms Just let me in your arms Show me if you want me If I'm all that I will be that I will be your friend Show me if you want me If I'm all that I will be that I will be your friend I'll be your lighthouse when you're lost to see I'll keep my light on, baby, you can always come to me I wanna be the place you call your home Just let me in your arms Just let me in your arms Show me if you want me If I'm all that I will be that I will be your friend Show me if you want me If I'm all that I will be that I will be your friend When you need me I will never let you come apart When you need me I will be your candle in the dark When you need someone Oh, let me be the one The only one And the only one And the only one Show me if you want me If I'm all that I will be that I will be your friend Show me if you want me If I'm all that I will be that I will be your friend (Show me if you want me) Show me if you want me If I'm all that (And I will be your friend) I will be that I will be your friend (Show me if you want me) Show me if you want me If I'm all that (And I will be your friend) I will be that I will be your friend (Show me if you want me) Show me if you want me If I'm all that (Show me if you care) I will be that I will be your friend (Show me if you want me) Show me if you want me If I'm all that (Show me if you care) I will be that I will be your friend (Show me that you care) I will be that I will be your friend Oh, show me that you care I will be that I will be your friend Just show me that you care Welcome! 😁
+Ronyl Gernalin Thanks for posting these lyrics. I love this song! Here are a couple of corrections: I wanna make the best *so you want more* (not "of you and more") I'll be your lighthouse when you're lost *at sea* (not "to see")
This song always have consoled me whenever I'm tired and used. Love every factor of this song, Carly's gentle voice like quiet waves, beautiful lyrics, and melodies. I hope someday there will be someone who is my lighthouse when I'm lost at sea. Love this song for years.
I always listen to Al Green and Prince and music that really defined certain era's. What I always wanted to hear was a modern song that actually placed itself in the past and, most importantly, be able to pull it off. Never did I ever think it would come from CRJ, but here we are. She has captured the 80's and I love her for it.
A lot better than her last single. If she continues down this route I think she can make some really good music. I hope she becomes more involved in the production process of her songs.
I love Carly ray Jepsen , her voice is killer to the bone. The music in this song is to die for, I thank God for her talents. She just keeps getting better and better. The backup singers are just super !!!!!!!
I feel like I'm in a music video listening to this song. In a pink bedroom, with teddy bears all around and looking out the window for him to come see me. When he comes, I sneak out the window and we ride off to the park. Walk in the park with the city lights on a warm summer night laughin. Him telling me all his hopes and fears. This music is made of dream love and hope.
Not me reading and agreeing with this comment, tearing up! By just simply wondering if she ever feels this way about me, I'd really love to know. And then look up to your name, and it said "Jessica".. The girl that I've fallen in love with has the same name with ya. Now you made me has such an emotional wreck. Tearing me up even more! What a sad sad boy I am :(
Okay it's been a fucking month, so why in the FUCK does this only have 1 million views? I've literally told everyone I know, even my fucking great grandma about this song cause it's my absolute favorite right now, and it gets no recognition!?!? stupid.
lolnation123 I don't think they have pushed this single , No Video , they seem to only push I Really Like You ,, But its sad cause Carly has a lot of Amazing songs she wrote , in Folk Style and Indie Style and pop music she has not pushed , and these songs were before she became known out side of Canada
+lolnation123 1 million views is really a lot, i think .-.. I usually listen artist who has less than 10k views. That's we can call : no recognition ^^.
The lyrics of this song just moves me even after listening to it a few years later since it’s release. It reminded me of my ex, our relationship. How we had always been there for each other. It was extremely memorable, the highs and lows we been through yet sad looking back what could have should have would have been. Thank you for this song
if Carly keeps this up she'll be one of the best pop artists. Honestly, I did not like Kiss at all, but this album showed how truly talented a musician she is.
Now silk sonic and Bruno Mars doing the same vibe. She’s ahead of her time ladies and gentlemen. I hope Carley will get the recognition she deserves not just the call me maybe girl.
Me too, I was painting,.then herd this song, and was like who is singing this! I love this song so much, that I felt something that got me a little choked up! Great job, and thank you Carly!
THIS IS SO GOOD. Its like a blend of Janet Jackson, Prince, Madonna and Michael Jackson. 80's pop and new wave confection glittered with synthesizers and cool-chill lyrics. So underrated. I got fucking tired of radio stations playing Taylor Swift and meghan trainor songs.
Most people say Carly can't make anything different and it sounds the same. I disagree. I nice change from Call Me Maybe, Tonight I'm Getting Over You, Good Time,This Kiss and her other works. I like it and if this is the variety that will be on the new album I am sure at least one song will pick up the eyes of many people. I wish you great success Carly, you are my third favorite Canadian!
Daniel Mezquita Carly opened for Cyndi Lauper at a concert, said there was something about her she wants to bring back into music, and inducted her into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She's a total fan of Cyndi.
I haven't seen so many positive comments for someone like her in a long time 💯 I've had this song on repeat since the day I heard it❗️ I just wish that her voice was heard more. She has an amazing voice.
I hate how criminally underrated this young lady is! She sings, writes, and produces almost all of her music. She got pigeonholed for “Call Me Maybe” and no one took her serious for that but she’s actually brilliant.
i want a few but not a lot I think pop songs dominated Kiss and it just reinforced her as a mainstream pop artist & not someone who's really unique when it comes to their artistry plus songs like these really suits her voice I hope she brings back the vibe from her first album tug of war :)
***** I heard all of the album has to offer. It still has the joy of the bubblegum but has more of an emotional edge and sounds like a hipster record! I like it.
In a world filled with shallow songs about lust and excess, Carly's music is a breath of fresh air. It's nice to hear songs with sincere lyrics that touches the heart, and you can sing along to with so much EMOTION.
I was reading these comments while the 30 second advertisement played, and it got me SO excited for this song. And boy, did it reach expectations. I love the Blood Orange vibes!
This is a Masterpiece by Carly! I love it so much, its a real 80's soul song and i love it so much, im so excited for carly! Im gonna replay the song all day long
waaimasjien that was my first thought as well. if i didn't already know he was involved (as per their SNL appearance), i would've definitely called this a blood orange rip off. What i really want to hear is the demo that i'm sure exists with Dev singing
its an 80's R&B style Prince, Janet, and some of the early R&B singer used it. That's what stuck out to me and I love it as well. I give her two 👍 for the take me back to the days.
I am really digging this song. I love the instrumentation and production of this song, from the dark vibe, the melancholy guitars that add a nice touch to the song and the shimmering synthesizers that make this song pop out to me. Carly Rae Jepsen's vocal sound really good and makes this an excellent song. Well done :)
Some of you might call it generic but there's beauty in simplicity. The vibe and sonics of this song feel really nice, definitely 80's influenced. All her popular songs are fast paced so this is a nice change. Whoever wrote this song is good at what they do.
Talking to someone who doesn't quite seem to reciprocate the same level of interest in you as you is probably the worst most confusing feeling ever. Our emotions don't deserve to be kept in limbo but the heart's curiosity always insists we continue even if it's bound for heartbreak...."Just show me that you care..."
