And I'm 1000% sure that she's gonna be overlooked again

For Dedicated, Carly Rae found inspirations in Bleachers, The Naked & Famous, Daft Punk, M83 and similar artists. The sounds are influenced by Jazz, Disco, 80's New Wave, African, Classical Music and Dream Pop. I am wondering if Jack Antonoff is the producer. I am really impressed and satisfied by this record, definitely Carly Rae Jepsen dedicated this gif for her fans.

This is one of the best and most dynamic reviews of a piece of music I've ever encountered.

I always saw your videos on here but never really clicked on them, but i did for this one and i do not regret it a bit, i love the way you break down the songs and point out the production of them (especially as an almost producer myslef) cause i really felt like this album has so many layers that will probably get over people's heads and THANK YOU for mentioning the lack of drop or release on For Sure, i feel like a lot of people will be expecting the song to go that way but it doesn't need it, and it what makes it such an stellar track, LOVE the outro on it, it reminds me to the 12" mixes that artists used to do in the 80's

Man this album is a bop but seeing you analyse this really brought a little tear as I didn't quite pick up the depth of it until you started describing it, I could see before the end of this video where the album was going and its a genius level of production, kinda made me think of my fave band NIN hearing about the production side, fantastic video and really eye opening, thanks for making this album just that much more awesome to me ^_^

But I can clearly see that you're much more musically inclined than alot of others. Production-wise Carly really pushes herself by the time the fourth track kicks in. Want You In My Room is just about the wildest and wackiest thing she has done. Very brash yet cutesy and cheeky at the same time. Couple that with the next track, Everything He Needs, which is the least Carly-sounding song at first but then you realize it's such a perfect fit for her with its weird mish-mash of elements, interesting melodic choices and embellishments. The one-two punch of those songs are the artistic, experimental peak of the record, and not that the other songs are any bad, they're still great, but just seem paler, tamer and less interesting by comparison. Still, this is a stronger, more varied album than her previous one, which is saying a lot as that one was brilliant as well.

Thanks for the thoughtful review, I have similar observations. Dedicated tells a story and many of its songs will make better sense and feel more powerful after you put them in context, just like you did here. Say, No Drug Like Me is very sultry and dremy whereas For Sure sounds startling, as a sense of awakening and the Party for One, which sounds cheesy with no context, is actually a feel-good song about resilience. I notice that many people compare this album to Emotion but that's a bit unfair. It has its own narrative which makes it unique.

I know you don't have in your plans react to this, but I recommend you an Indie Electronic band from New Zealand, they are The Naked & Famous and her latest album was Simple Forms (2016). People usually don't react to this band. Actually their are working on their next record, I don't know If they will release their album this year or next year, 2020. I love watching your reactions because your voice sounds beautiful and calm, so you are not talking while the music is playing, like other people do. I am glad for that, I notice you are a musician that have knowledge of music, and you love Pop Music. I think pop music is a very underrated genre. 💖👌🎶

I loooove Julien but i don't like the reverb on Carly's voice on the verbs. I like how "wet" it sounds but i don't like the fact that the delay vanishes so fast that it sounds like it just immediately cuts, i would like it way better if the delay was longer
