P.S. This album is a pop bible!! Loved it the second it was released in 2015, and have had it on rotation every year since!! It deserved SO MUCH MORE than what it got, partly due to the popularity and comparisons to Taylor Swift’s “1989” at the time, and also due to lackluster promotion 😭 Btw, the reason for the stylization of “E•MO•TION” is because the word was sent to her in its phonetic spelling, and ultimately convinced her to use it for the album title. It’s definitely better than what she was originally gonna call it (“Eternal Summer” as an homage to L.A. 😝👎🏼).
OMG LA HALLUCINATIONS NO STAR! YOU ARE DESD TO MEEEEEE 🤪🤪🤪 Omg that original name is tragic haha! Way prefer this and looks cool too! Sounds nothing like 1989 :( Hate that is got overshone AND poor promotion… HATE THESE LABELS!!!!!
@@bennshouts PHEW, glad I’m just “DESD” and not actually DEAD to you cuz that would make me very sad… 😁👍🏼 LA Hallucinations is a BOP, but gets overshadowed by a good majority of the other songs on the album for me. Seriously!! 1989 and this album are LIGHTYEARS apart from each other >__< they both used 80s pop elements in their sound, which I guess was enough for the public to pit them against each other back then 😒😣😩
@@jaykay9400 1989 and E•MO•TION both have a special place in my heart.Actually I wouldn't even know Carly Rae Jepsen besides Call Me Maybe if I didn't check out 1989 so I'm happy that both exist.
fuck yeah, this one is the purest definition of a BOP. In fact, this album have a B side with two songs in particular that are just my favorites from her catalogue: Cry and Roses; I think you should definitely give a listen to them. Great reaction as always
Fun fact: She wrote 250 songs for emotion. Some of them were later released on Side B. She also did the same for Dedicated, wrote 200+ songs and chose some unreleased for side B (the way she didn't pick some of them for side b tho, Disco Darling deserved a release). Also, you really should've heard the deluxe tracks, they are some of the best on the album, and the only reason they weren't standard was because the label didn't let them be.
This album is such a rush of joy! Glad you enjoyed it. The deluxe tracks (Black Heart, I Didn't Just Come Here to Dance, Favorite Colour, Never Get to Hold You) are really not that special compared to the standard tracks (although they ARE good, cause Carly is that talented). Maybe listen on your own later, if you will. The Side B EP, however, you should definitely react to! It's 8 "discarded" tracks from Emotion, but the EP was released a year later, so there were proper production and work done, it's not just demos or whatever. Higher and Roses are highlights for me. Lastly, Cut to the Feeling is a stand alone single from this era and it's arguably a Run Away with Me 2.0, so one of the bests of her catalogue! Sending love from Brazil ♥
i love this album! i saw carly live at a fun fair in sweden a few years ago, nobody knew who she was so she was only performing to a few dozen people. She was awesome! i'm so happy you reacted to her album :D
An essential pop album and probably in the Top 5 of the 2010s. It turned Carly into a gay icon over night. It's a masterpiece and her discography is just mental. Check out E.MO.TION Side B and the both Dedicated albums 💕
you should totally do more Maggie Rogerssssss, she's writing an album now and she released one last year called 'notes from the archive' which is music she's written from 2011 - 2016 (don't quote me on that) and it includes her talking you through the album :)
So good!!! Yo you have to listen to Emotion side B, its not a deluxe its like a separate project that follows similar sounds and motif's!! It has some of my absolute favourite pop songs on it!
Benn!! love this album! you've gotta react to Dedicated by Carly. I also think you'll really enjoy the album Lady Jesus by UPSAHL. She JUST dropped it and ive had it on repeat!! Love ya xx stay happy
This album brings back so many memories working in retail they played the fuck out of this album at forever 21. Can you react to Trick R Treat album by Cottontail based off your reactions I think you would enjoy it also it’s spooky season so why not
Welcome to the CRJ-verse! She honestly makes the catchiest and most earnest pop music, yet she flies under so many people's radars. And as a Canadian myself, I have no choice but to stan.
Carly has a good ear for catchy pop music. I just hate that a lot are comparing this record and Taylor Swift’s 1989. Both are good in their own ways, and are already a cult classic in pop culture. I would love to see them collaborate tho
So glad you did this, so ashamed I hadn't yelled about it in comments before. This is pretty much perfect as a pop album. So this is kinda niche / UK-pop-nerd, but Rachel Stevens - Come and Get It is almost on par with this with its vision and cohesiveness for pop. Criminally under-appreciated but hey, most works of genius are
I was craving for a POP summer BOP and I ran into this one and OMG I'm so in loooooooveeeeeeee. Ofc you'd have a reaction to this, as the GOAT you areeee!!!!!!💓💓💓💓
regarded as the best pop album since teenage dream and run away with me is THE best pop song of all time imo 🤷🏼♀️ carly is just sooo good idk if you have yet but you need to react to the b sides and also dedicated + its b sides
I’ll leave my recommendations here to see if u are interested, would love to see u reacting to this albums ❤️ bonito generation by kero kero bonito the dreaming by kate bush shabrang by sevdaliza daddys home by st vincent rid of me by pj harvey kala by M.I.A grey area by little simz el mal querer by rosalia dirty comoputer by janelle monáe broke with expensive taste by azealia banks
Bb your taste is so good lmao... also the deluxe tracks are cute! You def don't need to listen to them in conjunction with the album, but they're good~~ there's also a Side B EP with some genuine bops!!
Can you please react to an album by Lights? Preferably Little Machines or Skin & Earth. She's a hella underrated artist from Canada and her music has similar vibes to CRJ!
Please react to 2 of the Deluxe tracks: I'm Not Just Here To Dance and Favorite Colour, two Target Deluxe tracks : Never Get To Hold You and Love Again!!! And also please react to her songs: Cut To The Feeling (Such a banger!!!), Party For One, and This Love Isn't Crazy!!! Also some of her singles in her KISS album: Good Time (you probably heard of it before? It was kinda big back in 2012 too), This Kiss and Tonight I'm Getting Over You!!! And also please react to Taylor Swift's 1989, Speak Now and Lover!!!! and one of the songs in her debut album I'm Only Me When I'm With You!!!!
