Carly Rae Jepsen, is the iconic voice behind the global hit "Call Me Maybe.” Before her huge breakout, she was writing songs and performing in local clubs, gradually building her presence in the music scene. But even with that background, nothing could prepare her for the worldwide sensation that "Call Me Maybe" would become.
In this interview, Carly Rae opens up about the transition - from the day-to-day life of a waiter in a café to becoming the artist behind one of the world's most recognized songs. Dive deep into her experiences, her emotions, and the lessons she learned on this journey.
📖 About Carly Rae Jepsen:
At the beginning of 2012, Carly Rae Jepsen was working as a waitress in Vancouver, BC, dropping off demo tapes and playing coffeeshops in her free time. By the end of that year, she was a global superstar thanks to her hit song Call Me Maybe. Since then, Carly has become a pop fixture with four chart-topping albums. She joins Guy to talk about how she handled the pressure of her sudden rise to fame and built a career, her secret to good collaboration, and the inspiration behind her latest albums: The Loneliest Time and The Loveliest Time.

She is like a ray of sunshine. I always enjoy listening to her interviews. I wish the music industry paid her more attention as she has a great perspective that could inspire other artists that are still finding their way.

Fantastic interview - best interview I've seen with CRJ. Great job, Guy Raz. Carly Rae Jepsen's music is a true gift to the world in my humble estimation. I listen to her everyday, and her music fills me with positivity and joy. I'm so grateful for her many fantastic records and her fantastic songwriting. I really look forward to those "experiments" she mentions at the end. I love the way she is exploring on the latest two records. I think she has a very promising future as a song writer!

My natural voice it is what it is. To hit the different octaves that's using the vocal cords as an instrument.

Being a one hit wonder must be embarrassing as a artist lmao it's about to be 2024 and she still doing interviews on her only hit song from 2012 😂

You realize she is an indie darling right? CMM was her big moment of mainstream success but her albums since then have gained her a cult following and critical acclaim. I would hardly call her a one hit wonder because her career is in a great place right now and anyone who knows about pop music holds her in very high regard.

@@Rings-of-Saturn2 her career still blows my mind - she's at a very special and kind of amazing place of her career - she's set for life, has access to the industry's best songwriters yet can experiment and have fun with her writing. She's super relevant in many music scenes and still gets a ton of streams despite her being kind of an indie darling as you say. You have to be very, very talented and strong to make your career more than just your hit song.

Carly, you've had that blonde hair since 2016, please go back t being brunette (or a redhead) the blonde hair looks so cheap and dull, its not you.
