I think psychedelic switch is the best of the album, personally it has made my skin stand up at the same time of crying and feeling that beautiful sound creating beautiful emotions that no song has made me feel since the music of 2015
As a whole, this feels like the best album she's had since Emotion B Sides. She always has a few real bangers per album, but the albums have become pretty routine since Dedicated, and this one finally has enough variety and highlights to stay interesting. 5-11 is a really strong run of tracks. I'm really only lukewarm on 3-4 and the last two.
Kamikaze in my opinion is the best song on the album. My only gripe with her is the writing. I wish the writing was stronger on this. The vocals and especially the production are really good.
The album has grown on me, didn’t feel it too much om first listen. It’s just structurally a lot more unpredictable and not really exploding into the chorus like she usually does.
Grimes just dropped I wanna be software. I thought I would hate the song but it surprised me. The end is pretty cool. You will love or hate it. It's a safe grimes song. Not too much going on
Originally there was a couple songs which I was super mid about but after relistening to them again, my judgement absoloutely changed. These songs are so brilliantly constructed and experimental yet it still fits with her style and voice and theme. Like how
Kamikaze, Psychedelic Switch & Come Over are my top 3!! Love the experimental tracks. There were some growers for sure. Out of the two albums though, The Loneliest Time still has my heart. The way it captures the funk of the 70s & 80s synth sounds with the deep/isolative lyrics, I just love her work!! her hooks are always so so soooo good.
Currently obsessing over Kamikaze, Psychedelic Switch and Shadow! I’m in love with this new album of hers. Reminds of the instrumentals and style of Emotion Side B…. Thumbs up if you love Carly! ❤ (i forgot Stadium Love in the list! 😆)
OMG I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO SO MUCH 😭😭 My top 3 songs will be Psychedelic Switch, Kollage and After Last Night. DAMNN i love Carly Rae Jepsen ❤ Edit: i can relate to your experience of the first time listening to this album. it's so weird but after few listens, it's getting better and better😭 definitely a grower album. on repeat for me 😭✨
Weekend Love's outro flows so naturally into Western Wind, like the beat is literally the same lol. It's a very experimental album, at least for her, I'm on my third listen cause it's taking a bit longer to digest it. I also didn't really vibe much with The Loneliest Time, loved the singles but after WW, this was the kind of album I was expecting, and then Beach House came out. Started revisiting and vibing with that album literally in the last few weeks since the release of Shy Boy, even tho I still think there's a lot of fillers that could've been cut/replaced with the first two bonus tracks. Interesting direction she's taking overall tho, the 60s-70s sultry pop rock and disco sound fits her a lot.
