@Albert Fartenstein his lack of defense is severely overblown by the media and casual fans that use sports enter to replace watching. Melo is definitely an average defender at worst. He’s never been “the person to go at” on the defensive end, people just like a narrative.
Right or even ask him about his thoughts seeing the miami linkup and not being apart of it..some good questions were missed out but I still rock with them 👌🏾
@@tommyhigh7140 yh I know the story but I feel like it still would’ve been good as Matt is good with his questions so would’ve gotten a different type of answer maybe..but oh well
Say what you want about melo, but I’ll remember him as one of the best scorers the game of basketball has ever seen, and hopefully a champ soon. Congrats on 100 episodes all the smoke! Keep inspiring us ✊🏽🏀💨
Melo you’re one of the greatest basketball scorers of all time man, and your story is impeccable and comprised of such grit and hustle. Perfect guest for episode 💯
@@jaygee4017 Media did Melo dirty over the years. I remember when he was becoming the guy out in Denver, they kept accusing him of being lazy and uninterested, even though he was the only fucking guy on those Nuggets worth a dime then the racist sports media went after Melo again when he was on NY because he refused to kiss ass. Fuck the sports media
@@aktiipp7700 what series? cause he lost in nearly every one. Dude defines this garbage ass era, shot chucking one way player who needs a super team to win anything. Carmelo has shit game, scoring is easy.... Playing real basketball is hard.
@@noshotnova2432 😂😂😂 ur not a hooper, scoring in the nba is easy??? So why doesn’t everybody do it let alone half as well as Melo, all u do is listen to sports commentators and run with their narratives, the eye test can’t be beat, he’s not a legendary defender but he holds his own, and he rebounds very well which is 95% effort, this guy here smh
When you love something and it don’t love you back, there ain’t no point of giving any of your own anymore. Something I didn’t want to hear but I needed to hear.
Melo is my favorite player. This gave me a great insight to him off the court. Yea he got a fan in me for life. Them 5 dinner guests were nice. I got some research to do and get familiar with a few of them.
Melo came to place I bounced at the night before he went pro . In the press conferance he has an X on his hand from being under age . Was a cool experience
"People don't know" Melo Anthony 😆... I'm an avid listener of "What's In Your Glass"...I appreciate Melo, he's a solid brotha, happy that he's in LA for a chance to get a chip 🏆 🏆 🏆
It probably did , but Stax has said he doesn’t wanna talk about it anymore .. & they would’ve ended up talking about fighting each other 😂 probably smart to skip over that
Lol in a unparalleled universe it probably never happens if melo played in Detroit cuz think about it pistons we’re losing none of that shit happens if the game is close and u insert Carmelo which is at least 15 points considering what role he would have been for them no way does tinsley tell artest to cheap shot Ben
@@ZoDrama young Melo would have had 30 ... no disrespect but a lot of kids don’t know young Melo was the best offensive player in the league other then Kobe
Been a Melo fan since I was 13. I am happy to see him getting his flowers from his peers. The media was ruthless to Melo throughout his career. Specially exiting Denver, then NY and then the situation in Houston. Arguably one of the top 5 pure scorers the league has seen to-date. Keep pushing my guy! #StayMe7o #PeaceGod
@@almills2675 what makes a lottery draft pick a bust, realistically speaking? I've always wondered. I guess the question is tantamount to the perplexities of what makes someone a superstar -- to piggyback off of Dame D.O.L.L.A.
@@mogreens13 honestly just comparing and contrasting expectations versus actual results. As a Knick fan , sadly I remember guys like Antonio Mcdyss to Amare Stoudemire, and I think sometimes injury makes us forget but players such as Greg oden or even Brandon Roy would have been multi all stars in my opinion and some might say Greg was a bust but far from the truth.
@@almills2675 comparison is the thief of joy without a doubt... There has to be certain criteria, though. I mean, this has become a game of analytics, so what are the rudiments of the comparative analysis?
Wqs about to say... the Melo comments are great, but we ain't about to skip over that cheesy manscape add. Dude said, "get your rocket ready", had me so weak 🤣
One of the greatest scorers to ever lace up. Man those Bron Vs. Melo matchups use to be 🔥🔥🔥… hope Melo get a ring with Bron. Definitely long overdue 💪🏾💪🏾
These guys the perfect duo, jack isn’t that good at asking good questions but he got the respect and connections of the players in the league. Matt is great at interviews and talking.
Right I just feel like jack should step in a little more and put a different spin on the questions sometimes. The black community is going through a lot and we could dive deeper into some of our problems and some solutions with jack maybe. But I appreciate this either way. Matt is really teaching people that you can adapt and become anything fr. He talks so fluently. He knows how to make people comfortable
2012 and 2013 Knicks were so fun for me to watch as a local. That team with Melo, J Kidd, JR, Tyson Chandler, Steve Novak, Felton was (and STILL is) the best New York Knicks team since the turn of the century. 🔥
I live in Atlanta. I was at the game where Carmelo got 10th all time scoring. It was my first time seeing him play live so that was very special for me
BRING KYRIE ON !!! it’s a reason why all these legends and future hall of famers always bring his name up in who they would wanna rock wit on the court and the impact he got on this game we love watching. 💯
I appreciate this interview man for MY taste Melo is the greatest scorer that’s a normal size not freakishly tall or fast. Footwork Post work Dribble pull up triple threat the 🐐
My favorite player since a little kid. Him and AI on the Nuggets was everything to me as a kid. Being from Ohio I loved LeBron but nothing like Melo. So now they both on a team it's a dream come true for all 3 of us. Let's go get that chip. Haters gonna hate but they gonna say it was a superteam when we win the chip
Melo is of my favorite scorers of all time up there with Kobe & Durant in his prime..I wish he would have went to the bulls when he had the chance to, would have help d.rose also..good to see him doing well its just him & Bron left from they draft
I think they left out a lot of the interview. I'm guessing for timing purposes. I can tell there are a lot of cuts and edits at certain point. I would PAY for the full uncut interview.
Carmelo Anthony deserves to win an NBA Championship one day. He brought a lot of excitement to the New York Knicks when he was traded from Denver. He always kept his composure through the adversity. Great interview by Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson.
@@KD_SWAGGER you had 25 years of the same excuse. You still made bad decisions this off-season and after a decade of tryna get a high draft picks, y’all choose the deepest draft in 2 decades to go .500, sounds like the typical Knicks to me
S/O to Matt, Stack & my Guy Melo. Been my favorite player, since he stepped foot in the league 03. I was in Middle School at the time and I remember every boy had a string back, that was either Melo or LeBron. I was so mad when he got snubbed for rookie of the year. It's only fitting they finish their careers together and get a chip
I knew from jump this show would stand the test of time. Two of the realest dudes to play in the NBA are now killin the game with this podcast. Great guest to have for episode 100. I wish y’all all the best in the world. Keep up the great work fellas. 🦾🦾🦾👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💯🎯✅🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🍾🥂
That was a awesome episode I've been a melo fan since Syracuse man it's been a honor to watch him play and I cant wait to see him win this season plus I hope ya get Jay-Z for real
Nah, disagree highly. He wasn't going to get much playing time under larry brown his 1st year. Who knows how he would have handled that. I personally dont think he would have handled it good considering him being the man on a ncaa championship team. He wasn't going to be the man in detroit. Not even the 2nd man. Detroit had 3 leaders, Billups, Sheed and Ben. All of those other players in the draft (Lebron, wade and bosh) went to teams where they were expected to be the man. Not to mention the year before they drafted tayshaun prince. And tay EARNED being a starter. Tays defense solidified what Brown preached, playing the right way. It sounds good to say he would have been the difference but nah he wouldn't have developed that quickly under Brown.
@@andrewchristiana7314 starting 1st day? Are you smoking ? He Could have been R.O.Y on another team. But on detroit he would have barely played. He would have struggled learning how to play defense. All five starters bought into LBs philosophy of defense and team ball. The foundation was laid by rick Carlisle. No way he starts with that team!
@@redman6790 his size 6'8 240 very quick and athletic ...his first step was lethal, post up game was nice 👌 turnaround jumper was his go 2..excellent mid range , at that time 3z wasn't a thing like now..good free throw shooter , made alot contact when driving to hole and would either get fouled or make the hoop...In 2k terms he was a 3 lvl scorer hit up his highlights.
@@kaliboi2475 definitely was such a cold shooter, one of the best evidently given his top10 all time now. Im interested in his bully game tho, was he like Demarcus cousins type of bully to the basket and easy bucket?
People wanna talk trash bout Melo like he shouldn’t be a HOF but this man was my favorite player back when I started high school in 03. He was the most complete scorer in the game in Denver. Take u off the dribble, kill u in the paint, mid range legend, knock down 3 point shooter & was CLUTCH. Melo was the reason I grew braids for 8 years lol. But c’mon Melo, that top 5 ‘civil rights’ leaders was trash. Omit Obama, insert Elijah Honorable Muhammad 💯
Melo was getting love here in bmore to the point where we even asked him to be on the stop snitching DVD. He was on whitelock when he said he went oversees worth 100 mill to come back with a penny. So he threw that sh!+ In the water lol. Talking about that Olympic bronze medal
One thing about this show is the chemistry Matt & stacks got wit interviewing guest. Well put together & ask the right questions. Gives the guest plenty of room to speak & express themselves. Salut 🏁
Congrats on your 100th episode fellas well deserved. Melo was a great choice. Melo gets a bad rap because he was selfish and wasn't a team player but he will go down as one of the best players and scorers in the NBA History. Stak and Matt you did it again. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 episode.
Melo is my second favorite all time and I got love for him like he kin cause of his character. I was so pissed when everybody was talking down on him and trying to bury and was glad he bounced back. I lost all respect for Phil Jackson for how he played it and it’s nice to finally hear melo fully speak on that b.s. Bron my favorite player but the two players I wanted to model my game after when I was a kid was rondo and melo. Stay Me7o😎😎
