She IS Carmen! I'm a mezzosoprano and I decided to study opera at 8, whe I first heard her singing Carmen... (I'll never be that good, she's kinda my goddes)
Dear, for that person saying she was bad because she sings in chest voice, well, you can't be a fucking mezzo without chest voice, for me most modern mezzo are never much of a mezzo for never using their chest voice. This is a great example of a what mezzo is supposed to be
Baltsa was a falcon, not properly a mezzo. I love her chest voice, even that she over uses it even in a high register, but she can do it!!!! Not every mezzo can do this, that does not mean is not a mezzo. The chest voice is big issue to discuss.
Fenomenala CARMEN, o mezzosoprana uimitoare, cu un temperament debordant cu o plastica a miscarii foarte fireasca cu o tehnica de cint impecabila...FELICITARI!!!
Real bei canto scares people...a Problem of out modern time where it is modern to fake voices smaller as they are! What you call belting is right idea of operasinging of the 20th century and is the only way to sing above the hole orchestra while playing forte...use your mind a bit before you start talking about things you have no idea! You are only allowed to say you like it or not because its a sjective opinion. It means not good or bad in any professional critic!
Legend says that there were elegant viennese ladies among the audience, who, during the interval, in their long dresses and jewels, were trying to imitate Agnes Baltsa with her tambourine! Such a strong was the impression of her performance!
The music of Faso is an inexhaustible source of sweetness. It allows us to plunge deep inside ourselves and at the same time resonate with our fellow man, Yé Lassina Coulibaly❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
so you do not know a lot I guess. Of course todays Carmens are worse but in earlier times there were much better ones. I did see her as Carmen, I did not like her acting, and yet less her looking and personality, I was not able to understand Don Jose.
I love this song and I love Agnes performance on stage. But I'm driven from a layman perspective. When I read the comments I get sad because I'm not able to comprehend the beauty of her voice in depth. Can someone please try to explain me why Agnes is so special compared to other opera singers?

Actually this is the beginning of act 2. The entracte to act 2 comes before, its a slow flute melody. Nice voice but poor pronunciation and she should leave the tambourine playing to the musicians...
Thomas Pearce The tambourine was not meant to add to the music, but to her act. She is singing about the joys of the free gypsy life. This is like her celebratory song- she’s dancing and playing the tambourine for the joyful, rowdy act. I’m not fluent in French, so I can’t say much about the accent.
contraltissima that's your poor opinion. I thought she was a very good Carmen she looked the part and she sang the part as many others would agree with me. Of course you're entitled to your opinion carry on. Rapper loving aficionado sincerely Arnold Bourbon Amaral who would you prefer in this role besides Risa Stevens?
@@arnoldamaral7406 its a difficult role for sopranos, as she is without any doubt. All together she is quite ok, contraltissima is talking from the vocal point of view I guess. I prefer Berganza, Rachvelishvili, Leontyne Price, all the more refined singing and acting ones. Carmen is not a hore, she is a very sexy and independent women. I realy also can't listen to the belting of Baltsa. I don't like her entire personality, she is just not a nice person. In my eyes she has no feminin sensuality, Listen to Rachvelishvili, she is incredible feminin and sexy. Vocally.
@@vitabella6481 notice that Rachvelishvili sings the role with a microphone stuck on her mouth, it's much easier to color the voice with whatever you want if you don't have to project your voice over an orchestra, it makes it easier for people not accustomed to opera to discern the emotion when these singers "sing" with almost a talking volume and manerisms, some even whisper in an attempt to add what I suppose they think it's realism... If you care about opera and listen to older singers you'll notice heavier affectations, might call it overacting, but that's the effective way to convey emotion with a big voice.
vita bella Her voice is horrible.Sorry her Amneris was so bad we left after she's suppose to shine with Radames trial scene. We left after she butchered that scene so badly. That was enough for us.
heikization exactly.... those who idolize those singers have never heard anyone live lol... they dont know how opera should sound 🤣... for me baltsa sounds so free and exciting...
