My only regret is that I cannot make it louder. Oh, my goodness. This is the most beautiful human thing I have ever seen. I wish with all of my heart that I might have been there. Wow. This is the recording I carry. Seeing it performed is blowing my mind.💐💐💐❤️🔥💥💥💥💋🇺🇸🌸
One of those exceptional works, one of those moments when a composer reaches beyond their ability and births a unique masterpiece. This has been a favorite for 60 years for me
Imagine listening to this after the fact, as a member of the choir or orchestra and finding fault with their performance? I know musicians don't like to listen to their own performances, but it just does not seem possible to find fault here.
Me too, the INTERPRETATION IS unique, i Mean, there IS some cenic skill at play here that you wont see in a ordinária concert hall. You Really feel the comic and dramatic energy when they Sing. The baritone IS funny as heck. People normaly would Just recitate It, but there IS SOUL here.
I bought the CD many yrs ago recorded by Telarc. then later I attended the performance at Kimmel Center with the Philadelphia Orchestra. It was Extraordinary & Spine Tingling
For those not in the know: the choir is supposed to say "abbas" at 35:35. Not "go owls". The owl is the Temple University athletic mascot. The white stylized letter "T" on a red background that the orchestra member is displaying on the right of the screen is the logo of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, USA
Music - it is the only one universal language, all nations can " speak" and understand. Great performance! I wish i could be on the tage and sing this magnificent piece by Carl Orff! I sang this as choir member in 1990- ies.
Herr Orff, thank you so much for such a wonderful piece of music! Thank you to all the excellent performers! So many mixed feelings when I listen to it.
Simplesmente ARREBATADOR!!!!
I couldn't understand one word! But I really don't care! I love this music just for itself. I am totally impressed by the exactness that this extremely complex piece of music is performed by this orchestra, choir, soloists and conductor. I have never listened to such a beautiful and satisfying piece of music. Kudos to all involved in this performance! I can't say enough good things about it!!!
It wouldn't hurt you if you use Google, you'll be surprised how mich you can learn trough the the music, especially European l. Give it a chance. Be brave😏
The lyrics to Carmina Burana are in 3 languages - Secular Latin, High Middle German and Old French. Not that I know those languages but we had to know the translations to have a feel for what we were singing. It's the most fun piece I've ever song. Twenty years later it still thrills me.
There are certain works of art that if someone came to earth after Humans have disappeared, if the alien culture heard it ... they would say wow! This is one of them
This was my first time seeing anyone other than the "famous" UC Davis version of Carmina Burana. It was enlightening after listening and watching it on YT for so many years. There are some funny bits in it that I always thought were possibly unintentional. Now I see that the lighthearted nature of a few pieces in this work is totally intentional. Robert Orth was good. I wonder what it would be like to have Malcolm Mackenzie in his place though. Malcolm is amazing, more expressive, and his diction is better. It was also strange that there was no Boychoir.
