This walk in Glen Shiel, on the north side of Loch Cluanie takes in the three munros of Sail Chaorainn, Sgurr nan Conbhairean & Carn Ghluasaid. Starting from Lundie where there is ample parking between the loch and the A87 a good stalkers path takes you to the top of the first summit.
It was a stunning weather day with high temperatures warm and no wind.... just one of these special summer days.

Nice to see you guys got your trip up north! I thought those midges were snow at first haha. Lovely inversion as well. What a brilliant day out. If only they were all like this! Cheers for sharing! Kris.

Hi Kris, it was certainly worth the trip with the northwest in a settled weather window. There was snow on the ground last time we visited so quite a contrast and great to warm in heat with no wind. ATB Charlie.

Its a great walk , but I always wonder why Carn Ghluasaid was ever made a Munro. It is only about a gentle 50 m climb from the bealach which rises to Conbhairian. There are many more deserving hills , especially in Torridon.
@charliemccartney7055
@charliemccartney7055 3 года назад
Hi Michael, I know what you mean but it's unlikely the measurements are wrong for it to comply as a munro. I agree there are many on tops close to the mark that are more deserving but you just go and walk these as well. Beinn Dearg in Torridon is a fine example. Take care, Charlie.
@michaelrooke2544
@michaelrooke2544 3 года назад
@@charliemccartney7055 Hi Charlie. I didnt mean that its not high enough to be a munro, Its just that there isnt enough height separation from the bealach between it and Conbhairian for it to feel like a separate and distinct mountain rather than just a top. More deserving hills I was thinking of in Torridon would be Sail Mhor and Sgurr nan Fhir Duibhe on Beinn Eighe or Stob Coire nan Lochan on Bidean nan Bian.

I can no longer walk far, so your films are a lovely way for me to 'walk.' Whilst I love Mark Knopfler's Local Hero music you have used on some of your films, the sound of the wind and occassional commentary it all that is required for atmosphere. Thanks for including the ordnance survey clip so I could follow your route. I enjoyed the panoramic shots with you giving the direction and naming the various landmarks and then finding them on the map. Thankyou: keep up the good work.

Great video Charlie of my nearest Munros which are visible from the trails above our house. Yes, indeed, the midges were out in force yesterday morning - I had barely a chance to get my boots on for a morning walk before I had been bitten many times. Similar day today, although a brisk wind saw them off later. :-)
